brand from seoul. high prices, but it’s the go-to when korean foreign dignitaries visit. very nice kalbi tang with good broth, clean. dinner items pricey even such things as pajun and bindaetteok.

Food is tasty but for the price you pay for dinner it’s not worth it!!! I took my mom here for Mother’s Day and it seemed as if they really cannot mange a large party or multiple large parties. I highly recommend them for lunch on a slow day, not for dinner on special occasions. They also have a slight language barrier if you don’t speak Korean. But I have to admit customer service is slow but they are friendly and really show appreciation for your patronage. Also keep in mind when I say it is pricy they are! We ordered two orders of rib eye steak and it looked like it was a single serving. So if you go there to eat then I recommend to order wisely.

Price:$$$~ Service: Great Stopped by at this place randomly since didn’t have any plans for restaurant. I don’t remember having any english sigh outside(except Budnamujip), but realize there is a «焼肉» Japanese sign underneath. «焼肉”(Yakiniku)=BBQ. First thing i realized when i look at the menu is very limited selection and little expensive for Korean BBQ. This restaurant is not a typical«affordable, all-you-can-eat, or many selections» type of place. Maybe this restaurant put more focus on «more than average, mid-high quality» type of meat. The service was great. Our food came very fast including few complimentary appetisers. The server cooked our meat for us from start to finish. All we did was keep eating. I kinda felt rushed somehow maybe because the meat cooked very fast or the server was cooking for us. Other than that, it was great. It wasn’t a bad experience at all. However, I am not too sure I would come back here because the choice is limited and I like typical Korean BBQ more. The price wise, I don’t think it is matching with the quality or quantity. I would highly recommend to check the menu first.

This is our first time trying this Resturant. Not a friendly environment. Everyone looks so mad and grouchy. We didn’t get our waters refill. When we asked the server for soy source out server told us they don’t have soy sauce which I thought it was weird. Really junk and bad service. I really like eating Koreans food but I don’t think I’ll return to this Resturant

We came here for an early dinner. Nice, clean restaurant. It came highly recommended by two of my Korean friend so I had really high expectations. I also knew to expect high prices, but from what I was told it was worth it. We ordered the boneless short ribs and a meat called jumuleok or something. I didn’t want to cook it so they cooked it in the kitchen and brought out two tiny dishes with the meats. They didn’t bother saying which one was which, and they looked the same — tiny tasteless squares. One was chewy and the other seemed to be a better quality. I couldn’t believe how overpriced it was. We also got the bibimbap which tasted pretty good, but it was cold and I prefer the stone pot bibimbaps. The side dishes were bland and we were unimpressed. Maybe this is authentic Korean and every place I’ve been here is westernized??? Then I very much prefer that. I’d been craving Korean yakiniku for a while and this certainly did not satisfy. Also, the service was not good at all and on the way out, I noticed there was a valet.

This place is a total rip off. I had the tofu soup. It was a tiny bowl. They served four banchan of the cheapest ones. It’s very fancy for a Korean restaurant, but our bill was $ 45 with tip for tofu soup and vegetarian bi bim bap. The meal came with tea.

Very disappointed with this place. My go to item at any Korean BBQ place is galbi, and I will always order it. I ordered the YangNyeomGalbi(beef short rib marinated and aged in special Budnamujip’s house sauce) for $ 35 and it was the worst galbi I’ve ever had. The sauce did not taste good and the texture of the meat was weird. I also ordered the AnChangSal(sliced beef outside skirt steak marinated with our signature sauce) for $ 35. It tasted good, but the three pieces were tiny. They cook the meats for you about half way, then place it on the edges for you. I hated how they kept putting it on the edge when I placed it back in the middle to cook a bit more. There was a reason why I put it back in the middle, but they would just keep bringing it back to the edges. The appetizers did not taste great and they did not refill them like most other Korean BBQ places I have been to. In my opinion, stick to 678.

It’s the almost half price of Seoul, Budnamuzip. But the vegetables and small banchans were fewer. The taste was almost same.(it’s always best) I love here.

3.5STARS My MIL still enjoys Budamujip because of the nice atmosphere and the authentic Korean taste they produce. She says their mul-naengmyeon takes just like she remembers when she was growing up in Korea. I’ve still never tried their BBQ meats because I stand by my original review that it just seems unreasonably expensive for a lunch. I’d much prefer going to 678 Hawaii for one of their geneous combos. I like the service there, the meat is high quality, and has a fun atmosphere. But, it depends on the type of experience you’re looking for. Budnamujip is a little bit of an older crowd and is more classic. I also enjoy their bibim-naengmyeon and the burdock root appetizer. Sometimes the service can be a bit off, but it’s not usually terrible. You just have to be an advocate for what you want. For example, don’t expect to get a refill unless you call someone over. I know we’ll keep going back to Budnamujip because of its authentic flavor and nice atmosphere.

Real Korean BBQ! We had a bad experience eating at Kuhio BBQ. It was the worst Korean food ever so this place is a thumb up! Full of senior local Koreans so you get to enjoy the real taste with good beef. Interior: 3.5 As a foreigner to enjoy experience: 4 Taste: 4 Service: 3.5 Price: 3.5 Surprise: they don’t serve the usual kimchi. I do miss that! Valet parking is available.

I am pleased to say that budnamujip has quality Korean food. Having had my fair share of Korean food, I really enjoyed and was impressed by their Kalbi tang. The soup was flavorful yet had a clean, refreshing taste. Also the Kalbi in the soup was very tender and soft, making it an overall great meal. Definitely will be coming again for the Kalbi tang!

First time here and wasn’t sure what to expect as I have read/heard mixed reviews. Parking lot to the East is small, but there is an adjacent lot behind, South, of the restaurant. Even though the lots are adjacent, th entrance to the back lot is from Waimanu St. The restrooms are located to the left once you pass the front desk. Lots of tables all with a tube vent suspended over it. There are several«private» rooms that seat 4 and up. The vents over the cooktops are very strong. They suck the smoke up into it like a vacuum cleaner, so you don’t walk out smelling like a bbq. You have the option of cooking at the table or having the kitchen do it. The menu is not as extensive as other Korean restautants, and the food offered is high end. I was not disappointed not dissatisfied with the food, however, I was quite outraged by the bill. Way over my food budget. I’d have to sell a kidney to afford to eat here on my own! Been there, done that.

«Budnamujip» reads funny, but it’s just a folksy restaurant name meaning«willow tree house.» Sounds like«buh-doo-nah-moo-jeep.» Fun fact: willow trees are kind of a nostalgic sight for an older generation of Koreans and this name pops up in restaurants all over the place. Now for the review: the criticisms of this place is for real. Freaking expensive! You’re paying for wagyu beef kalbi and, trust me, it’s steak at Gangnam prices. Maybe if your rich Korean uncle pays, you can enjoy the food better, haha. Minimum order for meat is 2, so whatever you see on the menu, double that. The reason is that the meat is grilled with special wood – think Korean kiawe! Lunch specials are where it’s at. Kalbi tang is the best on the island and their bibimbap is a good deal. They charge for the special sides – japchae and raw spicy crab, but to be honest, these weren’t good and they’re definitely not worth the money. Kim chee and basic veggies are fine here. Here’s the thing, the food at Budnamujip is very clean and the it’s more one of those places you go when special guests come from out of town or when you want to eat fancy Korean. It’s Korean food glammed up in a way that Sorabol aspires to and Cho Dang and Yummy BBQ could never be. For the local Korean community, Choi’s Garden has been the go-to place for delicious, more high end Korean food. 6−7−8 is kind of a meat/steam zone, but it’s getting warmer to the idea of Korean cuisine and cute ambience being one and the same thing. Think of all those pricy Japanese sushi bars in town or how much you’d pay at a Ruth’s Chris, this would be the Korean version of that.

I came to this place because I was craving korean food during a family vacation. First thing first, this place does not know what customer service is. As soon as my family walked in, we made an eye contact with two staffs and said«Hi.» But, they just passed by us as if we weren’t there. ??? I don’t expect a whole lot of welcoming from you guys but at least seat us down? We were just standing there for at least 5 mins trying to figure out if we have to seat ourselves. And I do apologize if the store policy requires the customers to seat themselves. Finally, we asked one of the ladies passing by us if we can sit down at the closest table we saw. Her simple reply was«YES.» okay. not only this, food was definitely overpriced. The taxi driver who recommended this restaurant obviously hasn’t tried this place yet. Food wasn’t bad, but the quality was not worth the price. Ended up leaving ¾ of food untouched. PLEASESAVEYOURMONEY.

Yes, all the other reviewers are correct about this place being pretty expensive for Korean food. I honestly don’t think that they make THE best Korean food either. However, I did enjoy everything that we ordered while we were there on Friday night. We had a few sets of kalbi tang, joomooluck, bibim naeng myun, mul naeng myun and a few other items to share amongst 8 adults and 1 child. My son is a growing boy(12 years old) so he had a whole order of the kalbi tang to himself. He finished it, no complaint! Everyone in our party enjoyed the meal and the service is excellent. It’s nice to be able to just sit and enjoy dinner while the staff is BBQ’ing the meat for you. Although, the place is on the pricey end, I would still come back for their kalbi tang for sure!

Disclaimer: I have to note that I don’t eat meat. I also have to note that I may not be the best reviewer for this restaurant. However, I do love me some Korean food, especially their vegetables and when I saw that this place was opening up I was super excited to go visit and check it out. So after a few months a co-worker and I went to go check out the place. Parking was a little sketchy however we got in thanks to their valet person. We sat down and I was given the menu and it was meat, meat and more meat. Ugh, I was super bummed. However I found myself a meal with veggies – bibimbap – and decided to order that. Plus I thought I would still get all of the side vegetables that would come with the meal. When my food came I have to admit I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t what I expected it to be. Not only did it seem skimpy, it was very overpriced and the flavoring was just meh, so-so. Even the side vegetables were discouraging. I was surprised because I was expecting so much more and unfortunately got so much less. So maybe this restaurant is a little too fancy for me, and maybe I need to be more of a meat lover. But overall I’ve eaten at some really, really good Korean places and I wouldn’t even place this in the top five. And even my coworker who joined me felt the same way. Plus we both thought for lunch, the pricing was a bit outrageous.
