Renewal by Andersen

Update: RNA has terrific follow-​up customer service and is making every effort to provide a great customer experience (in addition to high quality product offerings). Erik offered to have someone pick up the remaining parts and glass left after the job completion and followed up with a hand written notice and token of appreciation.

We went with Renewal by Anderson after the sales presentation. The product looked great and the sales rep assured us they had their own installers who were outstanding. We had our entire home redone, the installers were polite, but the quality of the work stopped there. I discovered the installers were contract workers who were not full time Renewal by Anderson employees. They failed the initial city inspection, then they had to come out two more times to adjust the windows since not of them were square. They damaged our hardwood floors that we are still waiting to have repaired. Finally we had to have our own contractor correct a problem with one window since the Renewal install people couldn’t get it right. The customer service provided by this company was terrible. I left several messages trying to contact someone to discuss the problems we had. My calls were not returned. Finally I had to resort to emails to reach anyone. I will say that the quality of the windows and sliding doors is quite good, but we could have gotten quality windows through other suppliers. Not a positive experience at all.

Buyer beware. I signed a contract for 6 windows and a patio door. Granted, the quality of the product is not in question. But be sure to do some homework. The sales tactic will be to offer a discount only if you sign today. I cancelled after finding out the next day that the same product can be ordered and installed through Home Depot. I saved $ 7000 off the Renewal By Andersen price at Home Depot for identical service. Also got 24 months no interest vs 18.

So it has been about 2 months since I posted my review of the Renewal by Andersen window replacement in my home. I have yet to hear from Renewal by Andersen to see how satisfied I was with their work when they were last here and if they can do anything to make it right. It seems now that I have paid them in full they have moved on and don’t care. Buyers beware. These people are all talk and no delivery on their promises.

We had all 8 windows replaced several weeks ago and one of the panes came out of the box cracked. Wilson and Manny came out today to replace the cracked pane and they were awesome. They were extremely courteous and did the job quickly. They were really great to work with.

Alex and Danny completed our install and they were very professional, considerate and polite. We had 5 windows replaced and we are completely satisfied with the new windows. This is the third time we have used Renewal by Andersen and we only go to them for windows. The windows and the installers are the best!

We have worked with Renewal by Andersen now for a couple of years. We had them replace all of our original single pane windows in our house, 9 in total. The first time was we had them come and replace 4 windows and it went so well we had them come back and replace 5 more!
They did a great job matching the look and feel of the original windows but replacing them with dual pane energy efficient casement, double hung and sliding windows.
Alex and Danny, our install guys have been amazing. Our large picture window was a tricky but Alex managed to replace it and did not have to bother the original stucco on the outside. Even when the Andersen factory sent us the wrong window, Alex installed it for us like it would be in forever even though he knew Andersen was shipping a replacement to us a 6 weeks later. They were respectful of our property by covering areas in drop cloth and plastic, they removed the windows carefully without hurting any of our original 1930s window framing or original newly finished floors. They even swept up and vacuumed the areas they worked in.

I recently had a few very old windows replaced by this company. The scheduler (Jackie) was very responsive to my emails and request for rescheduling. The installers (Alex and Danny) arrived on time, and did a great job installing the windows. They gave me clear instructions on where to leave the paperwork for the inspection after the windows were installed, and then, when they returned a few days later to place the trim, made sure that I understood the various options. After each work day, the yard was cleaned and all debris was hauled away on their truck. They were kind and polite, made sure that I knew how to operate all of the new windows, and answered all of my many questions.
I replaced the windows in the two rooms of the house where the rooms were very drafty, because of air leaking around the windows. After the windows were replaced, I noticed an immediate difference in the temperature of these two rooms (they did not get overly hot during the day, or too cool during the night). The new windows greatly improved the appearance of both rooms.
I will be asking this company to replace more windows in my home next year. Hopefully, I will get the same crew!

We are very happy with this whole experience. We had some issues with our HOA at the start and they stood with us through the whole HOA fiasco. Jesus, Joel, Cris, & Jorge were courteous, professional, & very accommodating. You will not work with a better installer group. Great team effort!

Gabriel and his team were amazing. They showed up on time, greeted us with smiles and handshakes, and got right to work. They were polite and respectful throughout the day. The service was great. Very professional. They even installed all our smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors! The windows look fantastic. They finished on time and cleanup up perfectly.

The MG4 crew just finished our installation of our replacement windows. They were very detailed oriented and very clean. The new windows look great. Thanks

Great job by Renewal by Anderson of San Francisco! The estimator Keven was knowledgeable, friendly, not at all pushy, and patiently explained all the alternatives and the costs.
Ramiro, the lead installer, was terrific. He and his team were polite, professional, and efficient. Ramiro took care to make sure each window was perfectly installed. He always kept us informed of progress and schedule. He and his coworkers were upbeat and friendly even when parts of job were more challenging than anticipated. A large job like ours (36 windows) had inevitable unexpected problems. Ramiro solved every one. He never complained or asked for more money. No drama.
Ramiro took care and added creative touches of his own to make sure the job was perfect. The end result was fantastic. I would highly recommend Renewal by Anderson of San Francisco, and Ramiro and his crew.

I needed a minor adjustment made after a new slider was installed. Manuel Sandoval, a service rep for Renewal Andersen, arrived on time, with a smile, and was efficient in diagnosing/​correcting the issue. Manny did a great job and wanted to pass along the thanks.

We met the rep at the Napa Home Show. We explained that we live in Sacramento, but will soon be taking possession of my in-law’s former home in Napa. My husband is the executor for his parents’ will, and we have reached an agreement with his only sibling. It’s just a matter of waiting for probate to clear, which it should do any day. She said no problem, and after the series of personal questions referenced in other reviews, made an appointment, confirming it on the phone with somebody. Our appointment was tomorrow.
Today we received a confirming call from someone back east. The rep on the phone started again with the 20 questions, and my husband again explained the whole probate issue, and that we intend to start making upgrades to the home in a matter of weeks. She became very argumentative (I was sitting across the room and could hear both sides of the conversation even though it was on speaker phone). The conversation ended with my husband, who is always polite and I’ve only seen lose his temper once during our 31 year marriage, saying, «That’s fine. If you don’t want to deal with us, we will simply take our business elsewhere. Good bye.»
These people are idiots. Why would they want to alienate a potential customer who is planning to replace 20+ windows? Not to mention the fact we own 3 other residential properties and have no need to finance any of the improvement projects we are planning for the home. Poor business practices, and if I were Anderson, I would terminate the employment of a representative who cost me business. There were plenty of other window companies at the Home Show, and I am sure that at least one of them will appreciate our business.

These windows not only look beautiful, but they function so much better. Less noise from outside, no drafts, amazing.
I really have to thank Erik for taking such good care of us, along with his amazing crew, Jimmy, Raul, and Alberto. Once again went above and beyond to accommodate me!
I had to go out of town, so they all stayed later than they would have liked I, m sure with traffic theses days, in order to finish.
We are thrilled, happy to show them off!

I recently had a pair of french doors and 5 double hung, traditional check rail windows replaced using Renewal by Andersen. I have an early 1900’s building in Pacific Heights and wanted the aesthetic of the new windows to be appropriate for the architecture of the period.
Installation was fast (3 days) and the crew was excellent – Manny, Gabriel and their team were professional, prompt and knowledgeable. The quality of their work is top-​notch. They keep a very clean job site and are conscientious. I would recommend them! They can even work weekends if that accommodates your schedule better. They work hard for their 5-​star ratings and will ensure things are right for the customer!
I’m very pleased with the look and functionality of the windows. The quality is excellent and the dual pane glass keeps the cold out and reduces exterior noise. Upgrade to the better TruScene screens – they are worth the extra cost.
My sales rep, Anthony Amelio, was also knowledgeable and easy to work with. If you want to simplify your construction process, Renewal by Anderson takes the hassle out of replacing windows with their full-​service model.

Happened to speak with one of their event marketing guys at a local hardware store. Long story short I told him we only have an interest in all wood windows. He assured me several times that they have several different materials from vinyl to 100% hardwoods. He gave me his card and a few weeks later I called. What a weird experience! Just the appointment setting was invasive and off putting: was I married and would my husband be home? What is this 1950? But I chose to ignore it because my thinking is if they have a product that works I can deal with one dude who is backwards. Then I get literally 3 more calls all with the same salesy «man of the house» push.
Today though, a final call caused me some concern as they were confirming an appointment for the wrong day. I called back and again went through the same salesy confirm. Then the rep said, we are looking forward to introducing you to our proprietary composite blah blah window. I said, no, we are specifically looking for all wood. Please note that so we don’t waste time. Oh we don’t do wood he says. Wait. What?! I explained that we were told the opposite. He apologized that we were misinformed. Well yeah — not just misinformation but a bald lie by three people representing this company. I stated in each interaction with each rep what I was looking for. Maybe if I was a man they would have taken me seriously? So I cancelled the appointment.

I’ve waited over a year to post this review as I wanted to see how well the windows worked. I had 2 8ft French door windows and 3 other sets replaced. I love the look and ease of windows, receiving many compliments. Installation was quick and completed in 1 day. Now I’ve had to call for warranty service twice on the large windows. Each time of 1 side of window warped which is strange since I don’t live in a very sunny area (SF Sunset). The service technicians, Paul & Anthony, have been great doing the replacement work. Both are extremely professional and quick in getting the work done. GREAT GUYS!
Glad for the warranty on the windows, great installation, and repair work. Mark them down for 1 star for the warped windows and slight disorganization in the Hayward office (but this now changing).

My review is overdue by a few months, but I just wanted to say that I’m impressed!
I got replacement windows on my house a bunch of years ago from Renewal by Anderson which was expensive, but good product; however, my house, like most houses over time, had shifted and moved around with the forces of nature and the trim pieces around the frame on a couple windows on the outside of my house started separating at the corners.
I called Renewal and they sent out a technician to take a look and fix it. He arrived a few minutes early and was done in about 45 minutes! Right trim color and caulk color and everything. And they didn’t charge me at all for the work even though it was not their defect and was beyond the warranty period.
I’ve had unpleasant experiences with contractors lately, but Renewal provided good service, good work, and it was no cost to me!

I honestly cannot say enough about the level of service I received from everyone at this company.
Our house was remodeled in 2003 by the previous owners who thankfully put in really high quality Andersen windows. Fast-​forward to 2015: Our front window that gets pounded by the sun, was leaking. This company tracked down the original order for the windows and determined they were still covered by warranty (after 12 years and other owners). We thought they would replace the weather-​stripping which had deteriorated in the sun. When they came out to evaluate, they determined that the wood-​veneer on the sashes had also been damaged because of the leaking and they decided to replace the sashes for the entire window (three BIG windows)! They also replaced the crank opening mechanisms on a couple of the other windows. We had hoped for new weather-​stripping and we got new windows! Awesome!
Renewal by Andersen was totally on-​it from start to finish! It’s so refreshing working with a company that goes above and beyond for their customers. I’d give these guys more stars if I could! Thank you to Paul, Dan & Michelle especially. You guys are great!
