Bought some Windows and sliding glass door in 2005. Very satisfied with sales person, quality of product, and installation.
Recently the catch on the screen door broke. Sent them and email, got a follow up call, and replacement piece sent within a week.

There was no flaw in the door as Dolans fixed in less than 15 minutes. Yes, we purchased a home that had the doors and were told that they were under warrantee by the sellers. My negative review was for the following reasons: the contact we were told to call did not return calls, the first appointment to have technician look at doors was not met (nor were we called to inform us that they weren’t going to show up) and perhaps most important, it took over a month to actually tell me that the doors were NOT under warrantee — had we been told this from the start, it would have avoided weeks of run around and wasted time.
Sorry for negative review but had this merchant told the sellers that the doors were out of warrantee when they first inquired back in January, it would have saved everyone grief.

If you use this company you need to make sure that the information that you or your contractor gives the salesman is the same in every respect as the one he writes up, and then watch while he faxes it in. Or better yet, don’t use this company at all. They can’t be trusted. The salesman, Jack, and I must have gone over the order at least four times. Each time I reiterated what I wanted and made corrections. Early on, Jack had been given accurate measurements from my contractor but I had had to correct several of his mistakes. When the order came a french door was a foot off on the measurement though I had corrected Jack on this particular item more than once. The manager, Dave, I think his name was, said that he would make it right and accepted payment for the rest of the order. Upon delivery we discovered that there were other windows that were the wrong size, one missing, trim omitted, incorrect trim, the wrong hardware, and two mystery windows that didn’t resemble anything that had been ordered. Jack agreed to meet with my contractor to compare the original measurements we submitted and the order Jack had faxed to us with the products that were actually delivered. Jack never showed up for the meeting with my contractor. Instead I got a threatening phone call from the manager. He literally yelled at me to pay him for the french door and refused to even consider going over the paperwork with us to establish any of the mistakes that they had made or correct them. Though I feared the threats, I refused to pay for the door. I purchased doors and windows from another vender at my own expense and I’ve waited several months to write this review for fear of what these people might do. Really, stay away from this company.

Got all my windows (21) plus patio door replaced by Custom Exteriors. Used the Anlin brand vinyl windows/​door. They were extremely professional, completed the job on time, and quality was good. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Initially, we had a good experience with Custom Exteriors and their sales guy David L. He was thorough/​helpful in answering questions, especially because we had an HOA approval process for the windows. Before we finalized the contract we asked David to return a second time to go over the many changes made since the proposal. He seemed very put-​off by this request, telling us us he would only come if we assured him we were signing a contract, that we were not «shopping around» for other options, and that otherwise the visit was not «worth his time.» While we were ready to sign the contract, we did not appreciate the hard-​sell tactic or being cornered into signing a contract just because we requested a second visit from the sale guy. Needless to say, we opted to take our business elsewhere.

You know how it is… you are «going» to write a Unilocal review to share with community. Well Custom Exterior deserves the highest review. I LOVE LOVE the Patio Sliding Door that has a made a huge positive difference in the most frequented room in my house. my roommate looks out the patio door and says «beautiful». The result is terrific and the service provided was remarkable. …have total trust in them to do quality work and to go the extra mile for their customers. I was referred to them by my HOA Manager and she has extensive positive experience with them.

If I had written this review after they first replaced EVERY window and slider door in our first home, the review would have been 5 stars. I even recommended them multiple times. This was until I had an issue with one of the very large (8foot) bay windows they installed. The window was stuck shut, the crank not working. What happened next was 5 months of calling over and over and over again, chasing someone down to fix the window. I was lied to, told that the replacement part hadn’t arrived yet — then when i finally asked to speak to a manager, I was told the person i was working with was inexperienced and that in fact the company had failed to report to the manufacturer that we actually owned the window after our initial installation. So no parts had yet been ordered. 3 months later, still calling almost every other day, as I was trying to now sell my house and wanted it fixed for the new owners. When we FINALLY got someone out, he accidentally cracked the window… So i realize this was an accident of course, but again more calls ensued — frustrated to the point of tears at times. It should never had taken that long, nor required so much follow up on my part to fix one stuck window. Fernando and his manager will not be surprised to see this review. I would think twice about using this company that treats their existing customers so poorly. A little honesty and follow up could have made all the difference.

Very pleased with the quality of work preformed by Custom Exteriors regarding the installation of Anlin replacement windows in our 90+ year old home. Received the estimate, agreed to the measuring and changes, and, made the deposit. Got the call when expected and the crew showed up and installed 10+ windows over 2 days. Don’t expect any suits on the job, just the crew, who were professional and respectful of our home.

This review is long over due. I wanted to wait for our PG&E bill to see if there was a reduction and yes there was. $ 93 cheaper.
Let’s start from the beginning. We needed our roof, windows, front, and side door replaced. We got three bids. Although Custom Exteriors was the highest among them, they are worth every penny. Every installer that came out was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. When they could not answer my question, they were able to get back to me in a timely manner with the correct info.
Even the one of the owner Jeff came out and inspected the work after the install. Jeff was also able to recommend Armand’s Drapery for my window shutters. Kevin, the other owner left me a message after the work was completed. From top to bottom, great customer service!
I cannot say enough about their workmanship. The roof turned out good, but the jewel of the project has to be all 18 windows and the two doors. They look beautiful. My wife and I feel like we have a brand new home.

I was referred to Custom Exteriors by a neighbor because the Board and Batten siding on home needed to be replaced. We decided to take the plunge and get the fiber cement siding.
The crew came out (Franicsco was the lead guy and he was AWESOME). The guys showed up ON TIME, EVERY DAY until the work was 100% completed. I was very worried because they’d taken down the siding and put new insulation in and then the next day it was pouring down rain. BUT, they had it all sealed off and protected. They assured me there was nothing to worry about and they were right.
Also, I had a gutter on the side of my house that covers the A/​C cords. When it was installed many years ago, it was never capped (by another company). Unfortunately, over the years, rain got into this and caused a slow leak we discovered was coming in and damaged our wood floors. When they gave me a bid to do the siding, I asked if they could also cap that pipe. I’d forgotten about it and after the job was completed and everyone was gone, I remembered about it and was upset that I’d forgotten to mention it while they were here. Well, they had remembered and capped it!!!
Anyhow, we love love love our new siding and I would very highly recommend Custom Exteriors. Very professional!!!

We had all 13 windows in our home (including 2 custom trapezoids), replaced with brand new Anlin energy efficient windows. The process was very straightforward, their staff was great to work with, and the new windows are beautiful. We’ve actually had them in for almost 5 years now, and sure don’t miss those drafty old 1950s metal frame windows!

This is a schizophrenic review.
On the one hand the estimate, measuring, and ordering part was fine, and although it was pricier than another estimate, it seemed more professional. And when the windows arrived and were installed, it was nicely done and they really reduced our summer heat problem.
An early warning sign was that there was no contact at all after I signed for six weeks. Nobody called to say anything was delayed, or suggest a possible time frame. Finally I called and was given an installation date, after some confusion explained as the installation manager having my phone number wrong.
That was in July. The windows went in quickly and were functional, but the job was not done until October. We went with the construction option instead of replacement tilt-​ins, and it was the stucco /​paint /​caulk part that was the problem.
It was really just a management problem on «the small stuff» and I should emphasize that the windows themselves were in and perfectly functional right on time. I hope reviews by others in the future will show that the problems are fixed.
If I need more windows done, I would definitely consider this company, if they fix this management problem.

I was not home during the installations, but this is the first time EVER I’ve come home to hear how the workers were polite and didn’t have any rude comments/​conversation around my family. Even as busy and interactive my 2 year old is with people, they had the patience and kindness to interact with him as well. I have absolutely no complaints about the quality of the installation after everything was completed.

We invited this company over to bid for an exterior work of our 2000 sqft house in Dublin, CA. The gentleman who stopped by (David Lopoez) was very nice and seemed like a good specialist. What really threw us off was the estimates he provided. For example: other companies bids to remove a small exterior window (interior was already done) and stucco the hole were about 250 – 300 $ but Custom-​Exteriors wanted $ 2,310. Other prices were even more ridiculous.
Also, It was briefly mentioned that for the labor of 2 people David would charge 150 $ per hour for both, but when the final estimate came for the 5 – 6 days of labor it was around $ 40,000. We were very shocked by that and I imagined that they would probably hire Elon Musk or Tim Cook for such manual labor

We purchased our home two years ago which had new windows and a slider installed by the previous owners about 10 years before that. They left us the paperwork from Custom Exteriors in case it was ever needed.
Fast forward to this week when the single-​hook lock on the slider broke and we needed it to be replaced. I pulled out the filed paperwork, spoke with Mary Jo at CE, and crossed my fingers that we weren’t going to be shelling out some unexpected dough.
She was extremely friendly and professional and, because this situation involved a passing of the warranty from original purchaser to new homeowner, it needed to be directed to the manufacturer who made the windows/​slider. She gave me all the info needed in order to call the part in directly from the manufacturer. Not only was that second phone call a piece of cake, the part was received at our home a few days later and they sent us a spare set.
It would have cost $ 150 to send the manufacturer’s sub out to install it so we opted to do it ourselves since we’re pretty handy. It didn’t even take 5 minutes. Even though the original order was through the previous homeowners, we were taken care of and it didn’t cost us a dime. Kudos to Mary Jo for being so pleasant and helpful.

Update 03÷19÷15 to my earlier review: Although CE sent an individual (whom I won’t name) to come to our place to get our inspection passed, and this person called my husband to apologize for dropping the ball once we wrote the Unilocal review, it was very disappointing to see the discarded painters tape thrown over our balcony onto the flower bed below — see pictures. (This was used to help keep the stucco filler off the window.) How difficult is it to pick this up and throw this away versus just throwing it over the edge? Also, there was stucco on the inside handle of our white slider, which I had to spend time scratching off. Another point — this individual said the stucco would dry and match the color of our existing stucco… well, it’s dried and it’s stark white in comparison to our cream stucco so it stands out. Clearly, this doesn’t match.
All in all, it’s about service when you have a choice of vendors and this was not the 5 (or even 4) star service you’d expect. Again, Jeff was very nice during the initial sales cycle and I’m sure the business would benefit if the service received after the sale reflected the upfront sales cycle. The overall lack of care of the installation and afterwards (it’s as tho they don’t really care about your time or your property) was still disappointing and I really can’t justify improving my rating beyond a 2 at best given this experience after the sale.

We have redone all the windows in our entire house, and custom exteriors is fantastic! We first had a garden window installed and a sliding door changed into french doors, with a small side window. They listened to what we wanted and made it work (they did install two silver hinges and one brushed bronze, though said they will fix it). They fixed up the stucco after doing the garden window, and now they are moving along with the rest of the windows. They work quickly, and are very polite and easy going. And on top of everything, the price is great!

From our first meeting with Jack Cooper to our final walk through we had a great experience with Custom Exteriors. We hired them to replace our Front Door and large slider window in our Rossmoor Co-​Op.
Installers were prompt and extremely capable. Great problem solvers, who stayed on task and did great cleanup.
Easy communication was a hallmark of this transaction. We are very pleased with the work and the overall experience.
