History

Established in 1969.

Our President, Mr. Dan Schroeder (9th degree black belt), opened his Karate School in 1969. We teach one of the oldest and purest forms of Karate in the world. Our heritage can be traced all the way back to the Shaolin Temple in China over 500 years ago. We stress traditional karate and classic form but are not chained to the past. Our system is noted for its speed and power, emphasizing speed and agility rather than brute force. We use our over 45 years experience to bring out the best in our students on an individual basis. We try to put their needs and inspirations foremost in our minds. It is our hope that our students will make the art of Shorin Ryu Karate a way of life that they can pursue and enjoy well into their advance years.

Meet the Business Owner

Dan S.

Business Owner

Sensei started karate when he was 18 years old. He was looking for something to burn energy and to do some physical exercise with a purpose. He joined a karate studio in Milwaukee that taught Goshin Do karate. He enjoyed karate so much that in 1969 he opened his first dojo in Waukesha.

In the 1970’s, while at a tournament in Grand Rapids Michigan, he met a martial artist that impressed him. This man was fast and he generated a lot of power for a someone of his body structure. He was so impressed that he started training with him, Master Tadashi Yamashita, in his style of Okinawan Shorin Ryu.

In 1983 he sold his Waukesha studio to one of his black belts. He open his new dojo in Hales Corners.
