Visual Edge Optometric Group

I had my first appt recently. The staff was friendly, helpful and courteous. I needed new frames, lens etc and was able to find them easily. I even purchased a pair of new sunglasses. Dr Patel took the time to explain his findings. I would recommend highly.

I have been coming here for about 10 years. Until my last visit I’ve been very happy there. They have a new girl with straight long hair that has the personality of a stump. She was very matter of fact and had no idea how to treat loyal customers. As a business owner myself I would be alarmed to find I had an employee that was so discourteous to my customers. I tried to explain my insurance to her but she didn’t want to hear it. I then tried to explain what type of glasses I would like and she cut me off and told me here you go these are your choices. The final straw was when she handed me the price and had the wrong insurance info on it because she wouldn’t listen to me. I excused myself and walked out of the door. My family spends about 4k a year on glasses and I will be spending that money elsewhere.
On a different note I did give it 2 stars as I feel the Dr’s here are wonderful and have had nothing but great experiences with my interactions with each one of them.

Professional & polite. Have bought two pairs of transition glasses here over the last 4 years. Good current of frames and up to date lenses. Clean office with this months magazines as well!

Been coming here for a couple years now my wife’s been coming here for even longer than that did my regular check ups I don’t need glasses but my wife says she loves his collection on the types of lenses people are friendly really nice they help get you and get you out to actually really nice location and a nice set up inside

Dr. Kovach is the best! Very friendly and explains everything in full detail! I didn’t have many questions because he answered them all as he walked me through my examination. The staff is friendly, environment is clean and comfortable. They also have affordable glasses. My glasses were ready exactly in a week. I definitely recommend this place.

I have been going to a doctor in San Jose but since we moved here it was time for an eye exam. A friend who sees Dr. Kovach recommended me to this office and I was very impressed. The staff was friendly I was seen right away but why I honestly rated this office so high was because of the top notch service. Dr. Kovach was extremely nice and thorough, you never know what to expect when referred to a new doctor, after my exam I was directed to the eye wear to chose some new glasses, a sweet lady named Beverly took over from here. She sat down with me talked about my likes and dislikes and went from there. She picked out every pair of glasses I was «eyeing» and she was spot on. Beverly took her time with me and gave her honest opinions on what looked best and what didn’t, spending that much money you don’t want to rush purchasing something you will be wearing everyday. Great experience.

My family and I started going to this office when we moved to Gilroy. Their staff is friendly and very accomdable. Our doctor, Dr Patel, is very knowledgable and friendly too.

I’ve been a patient with visual edge for many years and had always had good experiences. Every time I had bought contacts with them they always assured me that if I didn’t use all of my contacts and the boxes were unopened I could return them.
Today I went in to do a post-​LASIK check up and I took two unopened boxes of contacts I never used to return them, after some hassle they said they could give me a credit, however the credit was half the price of what I paid for them, I still decided to return them since now I have no use for them but I was left with a really bad impression since they didn’t follow what they normally say.

Going in initially was a great experience. Good knowledgable staff, really like the doctor. A few years in, also adding my children, it has become nothing but a headache. I called in to schedule my children for a visit, maybe because of their insurance or maybe not, we were rescheduled on 3 separate occassions all with the excuse that the doctor is not in on that day. Last appointment I called in to reschedule and they tried to charge me a fee for it. Each time I let the person on the phone know my experience and they blew my off acting as if it didn’t matter what they put me through. It is hard to coordinate work and kids to get to an eye appt. They just lost 3 patients and I am a cash paying patient.

Sure, I have to drive all the way to Gilroy for my annual eye checkups! But hey, it’s so worth it.
Dr.Paresh (aka Par) Patel and his team are professional and friendly.
So far, they’ve never made me wait, the appointments are always on time.
His front desk crew is also friendly and helpful.

The eye doctor is nice and competent. He must be unaware that his staff do not match his capabilities — which is too bad.
I just moved to the area. Visited Visual Edge based on info from Unilocal.Provided staff with the boxes of my old contacts and just wanted a re-​order. They told me it was required to have a check up. I said, «okay, I just need my new contacts quickly as I’m on my last pair». A month later the office staff were still bumbling around with paperwork and a comedy of errors so simple it got embarrassing.
Eventually I called my old eye doctor several hours drive away. He had my papers transferred. He couldn’t believe it either. He told me they had all the paperwork they needed to complete the order. He mailed my new contacts to me in 3 days.
I’d pass on Visual Edge unless you have alot of time, money and patience you feel like squandering.
PS…I asked around after my experience and my dog walker told me her mother had a bad experience with this place –that pretty much matched my experience.

I have been going to Visual Edge for almost 10 years. Dr. Patel is awesome. I have now relocated to Sunnyvale from Morgan Hill and I still go and see them. I’ve never had a poor experience, glasses have always
been perfect and I really don’t have a good reason to chanhge groups. It also provides and excuse to go see my old neighbors.

I’ve been coming to Visual Edge since I was 9, and now I’m 21, so it’s been a minute. Overall, they’re a great optometric group. Dr. Brown is my main doctor, but I’ve had experience with all 3, so I can say that they all know their stuff.
Dr. Brown:
He’s a super nice guy, and I like how he chit chats a bit before getting down to business during my yearly appointments. Why not catch up a bit, I’ve been seeing him most of my life after all. He answers all my questions really thoroughly and helps me make really informed decisions about my eyecare (I’ve had glasses since I was 7 and contacts since I was 13). He’s my main eye doctor and I’m really glad he is.
Dr. Kovach:
I saw him once a few years ago when I scratched my cornea. He was really kind, but he didn’t actually help with my problem; I had to see Dr. Patel shortly after to get the drops I needed. Something I take issue with regarding Dr. Kovach is that he gave me a sample size of some random eye drops, leading me to believe they were free, and when I get to the front desk they charge me $ 75? And they didn’t address my scratched cornea at all. I don’t think he necessarily tried to dupe me or anything, I just don’t think we saw eye to eye (ha. ha. Sorry.)
Dr. Patel:
He’s the one who did treat my scratched cornea, and I’m really grateful he helped me out. He was quick and to the point, and he helped me understand what was actually going on with my eye when it was hurting so badly. He prescribed me the right drops I needed and let me know how expensive they would be. However, one thing he forgot to mention was that one of my drops would dilate my pupils. That was pretty terrifying to find out the hard way. Once I stopped freaking out, I realized that was a very non-​serious side effect. I wish he told me in advance though when he was explaining the drops! In any case, I appreciate that he got me the help I needed.
The opticians are really helpful too, whenever I need my glasses adjusted. I’m also a fan of the front desk women, they’re all very friendly (especially Mindy!). And it’s such a pretty office! Anywho, I highly recommend this optometric group and especially Dr. Brown. :)

Been coming here ever since the board started getting fuzzy back in the good old days of high school. That was when Dr. Brown told me the story of my extreme nearsightedness. And when I say story, I literally mean he tells you a detailed story about your eyes and how they’ve developed their inevitable problems. Dr. Brown is super friendly, very thorough, and a funny man to see if you’ve got the time. I feel as though he’s a big hit with the kiddos that come in.
If you’re not so much into story time and prefer someone more to the point, Dr. Patel is an excellent choice. Dr. Patel is also a nice and friendly man that gets the job done well. You really can’t go wrong with anyone here. It really just depends on what type of personality you prefer.
The rest of the staff is friendly and very helpful with everything from making appointments to choosing frames. Speaking of frames, they do have a pretty good selection of frames and sunglasses. They are a bit on the pricier side but, if you’ve got insurance, prices aren’t too bad.
Overall, Visual Edge is a great place for any and all eye problems. And if you don’t have eye problems… well I don’t know why you’re reading this but, lucky you.
