B & M Custom Transmission

Brian and Jeff are the best. They have been working on my cars for the last 20 years. Actually my whole family’s. Just had my transmission rebuilt there a couple weeks ago. I wanted something that was going to handle towing. Got exactly what I wanted. Everything is beefed up and added an extra cooler. Truck runs and shifts better than it ever has. Also got it back earlier then expected.
Go see these guys for any transmission needs. They are honest, friendly people that take pride in their work.

One of the worst experiences I ever had with buying ANYTHING. I wish I could give a NEGATIVE 5 stars.
In 2003 I called around Fresno to find a good shop to buy a trans. I spoke with the old man there and though he was very gruff and short I figured he knew his stuff so I swung by. When I got there there were literally bullet holes in the window. I asked the old man and he said someone had done a drive-​by not long before. I ended up buying a rebuilt TH350, and was up-​sold by the old man on some modifications to beef it up like machining to allow extra clutches/​steels, hardened sprag, etc., installed it, drove it literally one day and it broke on HWY 41 in Fresno while just cruising along.
Had it towed, pulled the trans, took it in and they found that they’d installed a faulty used front drum (cracked at where the shaft is pressed in). They rebuilt it and I got them to sign off on it for the 1-​year warranty after I re-​installed it. I used this trans for about 3k miles (it’s not my daily driver), all the while the trans ran very hot, clunked very hard into gear out of park, and when I drained the fluid it was BLACK.
Well it finally pooped out a little over a year after I got it so I had another mechanic crack it open. What did he find? Well the trans actually had NO extra clutches that I’d been fraudulently up-​sold on and the counter-​rotating input and output shafts were rubbing on the ends because it was put together wrong so it was getting very hot and burning the fluid, and spitting a lot of metal. To top it all off the accumulator spring was broken, yet only one half of it was installed, so they actually installed it broken so that it would be shorter, I’m not a transmission mechanic so I’m guessing they did this to make it shift hard, but I don’t know.
This experience went from feeling good about having a trans built and beefed up by a company that’s been around a long time, to feeling the most ripped off I’ve ever been after spending over $ 1,600 for the trans, towing, not to mention pulling and installing the trans 3 times in just over one year.
I bought all new internals at Trans Parts Inc and had it rebuilt and it has been working great, and running cool since 2004 to now (2011)
If I were a cussing man I’d cuss about these guys. I think I now know who did the drive-​by shooting of their windows; some other previously screwed customer did it while on their bicycle because their B&M built trans broke.

A few days ago my transmission started acting up. I took it to B & M Custom Transmission on Belmont. I was ready to spend $ 2000 based on what friends and family had told me to expect. When I got down there Bryan, the owner, took it out for a test drive. He returned and gave me a quote. He ended up getting me back on the road for $ 200 bucks! He could have taken advantage but didn’t. That must be the reason they have been in business for over 50 years.
