The Comb

LOVE Lindsay. She is a coloring queen and I felt like I instantly bonded with her. Every time I went to get my highlights done, I felt like she completely got what I was looking for and made my hair looks sun kissed and natural. If this review was just on color it would be 5 stars hands down no question.
The reason why it’s 4 stars is because I had an iffy experience with my hair cut. I don’t think it was any fault of Risa’s– I think my hair is just hard to deal with. I went in with an open mind but I don’t think she and I were completely on the same page and I ended up with layers that were a bit too short and bangs. I went back and there wasn’t much that could be done to fix it so for now I’m just growing it out.

If you’re like me and tired of paying ridiculous prices at snobby chain salons and walking away with an empty wallet and just OKAY hair, GO TO THE COMB a Hair Studio. You will have yourself your new salon to call home.
Lindsay does color and Risa cuts hair. They both do a wonderful job and really work together to make you look your best.
I have been to other salons in Evanston and they are typically over-​crowded and noisy. You are so overwhelmed by what is going on around you — you can’t relax. The Comb is super cute and cozy. They have only a few salon stations so while you are at the salon you can actually relax. AND sometimes they bust out some bubbly — And that never hurts!
Oh and they have the CUTEST shop dog! His name is Capone — He greets you and then goes back to sleep! The BEST part of Capone — is that he actually does remember you when you return!
I would recommend this place over and over and over again… THIS PLACE ROCKS!

After moving to the Chicago area almost a year ago I desperately needed a new salon! I was so lucky to find The Comb and meet Lindsay and Risa! Lindsay did an excellent job with the color on my hair and I am so picky about it because it is red. The best part about the salon is the cute dog hanging out with the gals all day!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I have been getting my hair colored by Lindsay for many years and was thrilled to follow her to her own salon because she is just that talented. Risa has been cutting my hair for the past three+ years and I have never been happier with my style. I get compliments on my hair all the time (from strangers)! Lindsay is very creative, knowledgeable and on trend with color, and Risa is a rock-​star with style, including curls… and you ladies (and gents) with curls know how hard it can be to find a stylist that knows the curls! I recommend both Lindsay and Risa to my family and friends (and those strangers!) whenever I get the chance. When the ladies told me they were opening a salon together I knew it would be as chic and charming as the two of them. Both Lindsay and Risa have amazing personal style and it is showcased in their beautiful space. The Comb is trendy, sophisticated and inviting, the décor oozes a calm, clean ambience that makes you want to linger and chat with these two ladies all afternoon. Which would be easy since their talent is only overshadowed by their genuine and inviting personalities. I look so forward to my monthly appointments at The Comb, I leave looking beautiful and feeling relaxed.

How delightful! I came to the comb from a recommendation from my sister. I went because the stylist I normally see was booked. Not only is the atmosphere warm, inviting, + so well decorated the two lovely women that own it are so friendly! The stylist-​Risa greeted me as opposed to a front desk of discourteous staff + made me feel welcomed immediately! She was SO thorough with my haircut all while making me feel at ease and genuine with our conversation. The intimate setting is something that I have missed out on and urge everyone to see for themselves! She did not push any product on me but was very knowledgable when I asked questions! Not to leave out the other owner, Lindsey who is personable + kind. These two ladies are a great duo! If you are like me and have seen the same people for your hair for ages give the Comb a try-​even if just for a blow-​out. You will not be disappointed and I am definitely going back! Thank you Risa and Lindsey!

I love the cuts I’ve gotten from Risa! I moved to Evanston from NY and finding somewhere to get a haircut was so stressful!
She did such an amazing job. I went from 10 inches of hair to a cute short haircut. She’s kept it looking great growing it back out too. Definitely my go to salon!

Lindsey and Risa are incredibly talented and creative. This is a boutique salon with individual client attention and collaboration.
Lindsey is a color master. She has colored my hair for more than two years every three weeks and I’ve never left disappointed.
The atmosphere is peaceful and festive and there’s even a mascot dog who is very well mannered.

Wonderful hair stylist and colorist. Risa does the cuts and Lyndsey the color. Risa does a great job on my somewhat curly hair. Her cuts last and last keeping their shape. She also put my hair up for a party and that looked wonderful. Charming space wonderful décor. Good coffee and snacks. Cute dog too. Free parking in the building.

OK, I’ll admit it… I’m a mom of a certain age: but, thanks to Lyndsey’s expert hands, I look much younger (and hipper) than I really am which explains why I have faithfully followed Lyndsey to 3 different places over the past 7 years.
Im so happy that she has her own spot now. I love that Lyndsey talks WITH (never at) me about what I’d like and she always offers fresh ideas for me to try out or not. Such a great atmosphere at the Comb too! Does not feel like a «salon» for all you salon phobic.

I’m a somewhat slovenly dude who rarely shells out for fancy haircuts. But on a friend’s recommendation I let Risa do her thing. Not only is she totally charming, but I think this is the best haircut I’ve ever had. It looked good the day of and a month later it still looks great. Highly recommended!

I visited The Comb this past Friday, and got the best haircut I’ve had in a decade. The place is comfy and relaxing, and very hip. Risa did an amazing job, and I had a blast chatting with her while she worked her magic. Normally, I dread finding parking in Evanston and it deters me from driving in, but parking was a breeze at this location. Great experience, excellent service, and I will definitely be back!

I have tried to make an appointment at comb on three different occasions, each time the phone rang and rang until the voicemail picked up. Each time I left a message and never got a call back. Each call was made during the normal business hours over the course of three days.
I am not able to speak on the quality of Comb simply because I was never able to make an appointment.

Best salon in Evanston! Highly chic, yet also very warm, welcoming and personal. Both Risa and Lindsay are fabulous – my teenage daughter and I will never go elsewhere for our cuts and color. I have a feeling this place is going to really book up, once word spreads…

First of all, I don’t write Unilocal reviews (this is my first) but The Comb warranted some accolade. It’s warm, friendly, and just cool. Both Risa and Lindsay are pros and made me feel awesome about my hair! Best haircut and color I’ve ever gotten.

As always, very pleased with my color by Lindsay and cut by Risa. The duo wows in their hip and inviting salon!
