Danielle is a fantastic stylist and owner of the salon; she takes her time and makes you feel so comfortable. It feels like you’re chatting with an old friend while you have your hair done. This was the third time that I have ever colored my hair and she walked me through the entire process including maintenance. Her pricing is extremely competitive. Her salon is cozy and private with some beautiful antique pieces– she makes you delicious hot chocolate/​coffee/​tea while you wait. Highly recommended!

Bad experience, haircut was un-​even and was pressured to buy products. Over priced, going to super cuts next time.

Danielle is awesome! I went to her for the first time today after reading other Unilocal reviews. She did exactly what I asked but also recommended some additional color to help blend highlights into my roots. I love the way it turned out and will definitely be a repeat customer!

I’ve been coming to Danielle for 5 years, even flew in for my haircut when I lived out of state! My hair is long and wavy and she always makes it look gorgeous, even when I come in inches of split ends. Fantastic with color, she uses hair color that is not as harsh and hair products based on essential oils, so it’s extra great if you’re trying to use more natural products. She always goes the extra mile, has great customer service, and is a blast to talk to! In always looking forward to my next appointment.

My hair was so screwed up when a stylist put a super dark permanent brown in my hair last autumn. I’ve never been an avid salon-​goer because of the cost so when my roots started showing, and showing, and showing I tried to go lighter with bottle dye because it was getting close to summer. Well, imagine my surprise when only my roots turned light and the rest of my hair stayed dark! I looked like I had a blond toupee over top a dark wig. It was horrendous. So to get me by before I could find a new place I bottle dyed it again just back to dark — not as dark as the permanent.
Well, I called Danielle because of her reviews and described what torment my hair had undergone over the last several months. She talked me through what she’d probably do and the cost for it. She was very accommodating for the time and day (thank goodness b/​c I had a weekend of parties to go to!). I spent about 1.5−2 hours there and she was able to correct it. She made the permanent look like a natural part of my hair color but managed to lighten it up nicely. And for a very reasonable price!
And not only is the girl skilled but she was actually fun to chit chat with. I normally don’t talk much with my stylist. Just do my hair and let me go. But I enjoyed chatting with her about food, her job, my job, our pets, etc and will definitely not dread the next time I go to see her. thank you Danielle!

Danielle gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years, plus she was very friendly and fun to talk with. It’s clear why she has a big following among celebrities as well as with common folks like me. I did have to wait for her to finish someone else, but she takes as much time as necessary with everyone, you won’t be rushed.

Danielle has been cutting and highlighting my hair forever. I followed her through 2 salons until she opened this one. She listens to what I want and does it, with flair and fun; when I tell her to use her judgment, that judgment is solid. She tunes in to what I like or am experimenting with and remembers it. She is experienced and talented enough to come up with great ideas, suggestions and solutions.
The few products that I have bought there I have found to be high-​quality and worth the money — and I’m picky.
Danielle is very in demand, which is a good recommendation in itself. It is true that she is busy and can run a little late; in her case it’s a minor inconvenience — she’s the best!

I’ve been coming to Danielle since moving to Chicago in 2009. Yes, she does talk a lot about products and other services because she is proud of the offerings. So if you find it impossible to say «no», you might be uncomfortable here. Or, you could just learn how to say no.
But Danielle does such a great job cutting and styling! She takes everything I say to heart and really, really works to figure out what I am looking for in each cut. She talks me through what she is doing as she is styling so that I know how to do it myself when I get home. I always have a great time when I come in, and the prices are very reasonable. If you need a trim, a cut or a special occasion style (these are the only types of services I’ve had here) — Danielle does a fantastic job. She also stays on trend and I am always excited to get her advice on how to look edgy but still maintain a professional hairstyle for work.
I have a lot of very thick hair, but the texture is just a subtle wave. So, I am not really subject to frizz, but I do take very special care in washing and conditioning it in case that provides any additional help.

Although I didn’t know this when I first started using Unilocal,business owners are not supposed to offer perks for good reviews. The reason why so many reviews are filtered for this salon is because the business owner does offer perks in exchange for Unilocal reviews.
I was a pretty steadfast customer of this salon for quite some time, back when Celebrity employed Casi. Unfortunately, Casi changed salons and so I moved with her (she’s at Techniques Salon, if you want a great haircut!).
While my experience at Celebrity was great when I went there, the turnover is high and that can be a frustrating experience.
All in all, I’d recommend going to Casi at Techniques if you want a great cut, but I’m a little biased since she’s my hair guru.

I got my hair cut yesterday with Agnes. She was super sweet, listened to what I wanted done and then did it! I’m going back to her for sure!

The owner uses as hard a sell as a car salesman. She did okay on trims and roots then sold me on her ability to straighten and smooth frizzy hair. What a big mistake! A large percentage of my hair broke off down the part and around the hairline after the process! She said she knew what she was doing and got compliments from other salons, so why did she have to stop several times and read the product directions? I will never go there again as it is going to take a few years for all that breakage to grow back out! I cannot recommend this salon, not even to someone I don’t like.

While the sweet stylist who did my color was ok (althought I’ve been asked if it was «box color» by people), the owner’s abrasive attitude (she got irritated with clients who showed up for their scheduled appointments, telling them «I’m running late, so you can come back later or reschedule,») and shameless self-​promotion was grating. No thanks.

So the appointment started out late… which was the only downside!
Upside: They were super apologetic and offered me gingerbread tea (yum). Also, great selection of magazines, so my wait wasn’t too bad. I wish I knew the name of the person that cut my hair… she is brunette and youngish. Anyways, she did an awesome job! I showed her a picture of a haircut I was thinking of, and she did a great job of layering and really listening to me.
She gave me advice on how to upkeep my hair and showed me how to style it as well. My hair looked so flat before, but the new do is a A+ for me :).
Customer service is so key, and I felt they really went out of their way for me. Keep up the good work!

I booked my first appointment at this shop on a whim but boy am I glad that I did. I have very thick, very short hair that a lot of people have trouble getting right so I was nervous but Cassie did an amazing job. Then another time I tried to trim my own bangs and wound up doing a terrible chop job on myself. Cassie fixed me right up, as usual, and told me that they offer free clean ups between hair cuts so I never have to blindly chop my bangs again! They always offer me coffee or water whenever I have gone, the owner Danielle is always super friendly and helpful and they use great products as well. They atmosphere is cool and funky, the people are friendly and they do an amazing job– what else could you ask for? I love this place.

Danielle has been cutting my hair for a year and always does a really great job. She’s skilled and talks me through the process. She also cares about her clients and makes sure they are satisfied; she always reminds me that if I need something tweaked in a week, etc., to come back and she’ll fix it up for free. She’s also a very sweet person. I won’t go anywhere else!

Worst hair coloring experience ever.
I booked an appointment for color and highlights. I said I had my hair colored dark brown and wanted it lighter with highlights. I brought pictures in with me, and the woman said okay. I said nothing in the red family of dyes. Then the owner, Danielle (Michelle), kept coming over to tell me the woman who was coloring my hair, Casi, knew what she was doing. She assured me of this multiple times (though by constantly trying to reassure me, I was then a bit frightened).
Long story short, my hair was colored bright orange. No joke. Clown orange. They said it was just the lighting (they had dimmed the lights because it was evening). I drove home and turned on the lights, and boom — orange hair.
I called the next day and asked if they used red dye on my hair. Danielle/​Michelle never denied it. She said this happens to only one in a thousand people, and she would fix it by adding highlights for $ 90. She wanted me to pay for her error, and she said she was giving me a deal. She was defensive and mean, and she lectured me that I had been a difficult customer. She said that I couldn’t get my hair the color I wanted because of all the prior dye on it.
I didn’t trust these people at all with my hair, and luckily made an appointment at another salon and they fixed it. I filed a case with the Better Business Bureau, which Celebrity Salon is not a part of. This was the most horrible experience I ever had at a salon, and I have been coloring my hair for decades.
These people are unprofessional and rude. Don’t go.

I wouldn’t get my hair cut anywhere else. Danielle does a great job, and you can’t beat this place for fun conversation, and funky atmosphere.
I actually look forward to my next trim. I’m calling for an appt. now!

Awesome awesome awesome! I had my first appointment with Kate today– super friendly, personable and incredibly skilled. I’ve been buzzing my hair for a few years now, so I was a little nervous to step outside my comfort zone… but it was well worth it. Kate did a fantastic job with my hair, and I’m quite pleased! I can’t wait to rock my pompadour!
Everyone at the salon was really friendly and obviously took a lot of pride in their career. The salon atmosphere was welcoming, comfortable, smelled great, very clean, and is full of interesting/​retro things to look at. The price for the cut was really reasonable and definitely worth it. Kate even threw in a free conditioner sample to try!
I’ll definitely be making an appointment at CS with Kate as soon as my hair grows out! Next time, I’ll remember to bring cash for a tip (had to stop at Whole Foods for some cash, no biggie). They only accept credit cards for the actual cost of the cut, not for tip.

I followed Kate here from Red 7. It is out of my way but it is worth it. Kate does really great highlights. Several people told me they were the best highlights I’ve had. I also got my haircut there and it looked great! She has a very down to earth, fun personality and I look forward to my next appointment.
The salon itself is very cute and small. Hollywood memorabilia on walls and I love the gold framed mirrors for each chair. Great place for guys and girls!

The search for the perfect salon is complete. Granted, I could find anything on Google these days.
My husband needed a hair cut. Very badly. He had been hiding his hair underneath a Mets hat. I encouraged this until he saw a stylist. Just kidding, sort of. Originally I wanted him to go to a salon in Boystown, but his hair (and my patience) couldn’t wait. We went to Celebrity Salon in hopes of scoring a walk-​in appointment. Unfortunately they were booked solid for the entire day, but the owner, Danielle, managed to pencil Curtis in for late in the evening.
There was a slight wait when we returned. With all the various reading material and comfortable, yet swanky chairs we didn’t mind it. The salon and its décor is so uniquely rock ‘n’ roll, so there’s much to look at. Moe, Curtis’s stylist, called him up for a quick consultation and shampoo. Moe is quick, friendly, and very skilled. My jaw dropped when she showed me the final results. The cut was so modern, sexy, yet effortless! For $ 25, it was the best hair cut he’s had since Salon Blu in DC. I couldn’t stop giggling at my husband during our short walk home.
Men tend to have three options for getting hair cuts. One is the classic neighborhood barber shop. Friendly, talkative, manly and just fine if all you need is a quick trim or a fresh buzz. The second alternative is SuperCuts or a similar place. Cheap, corporate, and often inconsistent. The third is a high end salon. Most men would opt out of paying $ 40+ for a hair cut. With the economy these days, it wouldn’t be very practical to get an expensive hair cut every two to three weeks, even if it does come with a complimentary scalp massage and product to keep your hair looking fabulous.
There’s a reason why Celebrity Salon has a large male clientele, these girls know how to cut and style any man’s hair with the quality of a high end salon, but the friendly feel of the neighborhood barber shop. So please, say no to SuperCuts. Whether or not you’re a stingy Northwestern student or established fashionista, call and book an appointment at Celebrity Salon. Mind you, it will be difficult to resist headbanging to «Ballroom Blitz» and other rock favorites playing overhead!
