I was surprised by the quick response/​comment by Amanda from the AMLI Evanston (although I can understand that they are concerned of their reputation). According to the comment the manager wanted to reach out to me to clarify the issues, so I was curious what I would hear. Unfortunately I have not heard anything from AMLI nor did I receive an email. I was considering changing the review to 1 star, but as I indicated before, not everything was bad and some of the former teammembers were really nice to us. Hopefully AMLI is really changing something as there are some nice people in the community.

A fast response to our request to inspect and adjust a dish washer problem. Decision was made by Fernando, Raul, and community manager, Joe P. that the dish washer was beyond repair and should be replaced. Within hours, a new one was delivered to our apartment and installed. Great management team of Nerva, Tara, and Joe. A great maintenance staff of Manny, Fernando, and Raul. My wife and I thank you for all you do to make our life comfortable.

Good location close to the city, but only live here if you want to be surrounded with north shore entitled residents. They are rude and don’t care about anyone’s feelings. Have been moved to tears on multiple occasions, only move here if you don’t care about being in a neighborly environment!
The building may be pet friendly, but the people are not. Neighborhood is definitely good for pets and love the area– but animal owners here in the building can be abrasive, or aggressive.
Evanston is not easy to get to– unless you use metra/​cta– if you don’t use this think twice about this location

I’m 14 months into my 18 month lease, so I figured that I would come back and provide ya’ll with a bit of an update about my experience.
Most of the front office staff changed. They are cordial, but some of the least helpful people around. In my experience, the only thing they excel at is accepting rent checks on the first of the month and signing for packages that you have to pick up on weekends because the offices closes at 6pm. Other than that, I haven’t really figured out their purpose.
I know this is community living, but the walls are paper thin. Amli, since this is a new building that you built from the ground up, it would have been great if you would have invested in more insulation between apartments. I hear the residents above me walking ALL night long, entire conversations from my neighbors and music blaring from apartment ACROSS the courtyard from me. The people above me stomp all of the time and it feels like the roof is going to cave in.
Additionally, whenever someone cooks or sprays pesticides, the smell ends up in my place. A few times, my apartment has been a horrid and vomit inducing combination of Raid, grilled onions and curry — and it wasn’t even my doing! Sadly, Febreeze cannot rid the apartment of the stench.
Since this is a pet friendly — yet ‘luxe’ building, I would recommend that Amli invest in daily cleaning of the elevators and hallways. I’ve seen hair — yes, people, hair — in the hallway for longer than a week at a time. The dog smell has been so disgusting that I’ve had to spray the elevators with my own air freshener. And, speaking of dogs… they are cute, but annoying a hell after a long day at work. Because the walls of tissue thin, when one dog barks, every dog within earshot starts barking — and it can last for quite a long time. Not the best way to relax.
I’ll admit that I’m torn about renewing my lease when the time comes later this year. i love the convenience to the ‘L’ and the metra as well as the close proximity to the lake, but the noise and grit of the building has me really considering where i invest my nearly $ 2,000/month for rent in Evanston.

Aesthetically nice, but feels like a 100 year old building, lots of noises (pipes rattle, hear the shower above louder than when we use ours, every noise from the floor above is heard and echoes through the vents, dogs barking constantly), and we have the added pleasure of living over the pie shop where we constantly hear the banging and rolling of the dough, especially in the middle of the night when I like to work. Other residents I know moved out due to these issues. It’s a great space and the amenities are wonderful as is the staff, just not peaceful.

Amli has been very flexible and easy to work with as far as getting an apartment. Yes, you get the usual salesly approach since it is a professionally managed building, but the Staff is genuinely helpful and not pushy.
The apartment have a wide variety of layout (almost too many to keep track!) and the gym is not busy, which is great. I liked the location and for Evanston the price is not bad with a garage option.
They also have a generous referral program which we took advantage of and that was nice. PM me if you are interested, you will get a good move-​in discount!

Most unfortunately, I am leaving AMLI Evanston. I always felt really safe. It is a community with a ton of diversity and international flair (a heavy Kellogg/​NU faculty presence). In addition, all of the facilities are amazing. Ending the lease early might be quite onerous (I am renting until they find someone to rent my place), but if that is not an issue for you, it is a great place to live. Incidentally, I will buy you dinner at evanston’s best restaurant if you end up renting my apartment from AMLI!

After 5 months, I thought I’d come back and update. The security issue seemed to have been mostly because of all the construction workers coming in and out (and whatever AMLI says, it was definitely a security issue), but construction is over so no more random workers plus AMLI has added a security guard. I definitely am not as worried about safety as I used to be.
As for the management issues, no one ever followed up or apologized to me from corporate but the person in the office who had treated me horribly is no longer there, I won’t speculate as to why but she’s gone. And the rest of the office staff is SO NICE. Seriously, so so nice.
So those are my updates to my previous review.
As for the rest of it. It’s got the glitches of a new place — heating/​cooling always seems to be being reworked, ventilation was an issue they’re working on, appliances have hiccups that need to be fixed. But they do address all these things when you bring them up.
I absolutely love the lounge, it really is such a great thing to have an extra space in the winter to go when you have to get out of your apartment but can’t go outside.

We’re very happy in our apartment here at AMLI. It’s a beautiful unit, with the types of finishes that we’d pick ourselves if we were building something from scratch. The building and amenities are pretty much untouched, and after many years in historic buildings, it’s awfully nice to have something brand new. Most other residents seem to be pretty quiet and keep to themselves, definitely a more adult building. Staff has all been extremely helpful and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this building to anyone we know.

Management does a great job of signing for deliveries. Maintenance requests are resolved quickly. The building is very close to Metra and CTA. The one downside is that it is a new building, so AT&T requires a professional installation ($ 100) if you want Uverse.

My family and I have lived at AMLI Evanston for 6 weeks, and we have had a great experience with the staff and with the building’s amenities. We have a young child, and we have felt very safe in the building. The building actually has many safety features I have not had in previous apartment buildings in Chicago. The management team has been extremely helpful and very attentive to any and all concerns or needs we have expressed so far. We have been very happy with our choice!
