My parents had Feast at their house last October as part of my wedding celebration. We had a traditional catholic mass in Hinsdale and had a gap between the ceremony and reception. All guests were invited to my parents home after the ceremony for appetizers and drinks for a couple of hours before the dinner reception. I kid you not people are still raving about the food. It was incredible. The presentation was unreal and our guests were blown away. Everything is cooked and served right there. I would recommend this husband and wife team for any event where you are looking for a wow factor. They will not disappoint!

I contacted Heather for an private dinner I wanted to do for my boyfriend’s birthday. My boyfriend is very passionate about tea so along with Heather and D’andre’s help, I was able to customize a menu that featured dishes inspired by tea! My boyfriend was really surprised and could not stop raving about how beautifully D’andre was able to bring out the flavor of Puerh tea in the octopus consommé and balance that with smoky, vanilla flavors. The desert also featured a lychee tea sorbet that was really light and refreshing and highlighted the flavor of tea really well. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared with a multitude of flavors and textures. The atmosphere was intimate and casual which was a nice change from the stuffy atmosphere you’d usually get accompanying a 5 course meal of similar caliber. D’andre and Heather were more than happy to share how the dishes were prepared and conversed with us about everything from foraging mushrooms to their favorite restaurants in the city. After dinner, we brought some Tribute Tea for them to try and spent the last portion of our evening talking about tea. The quality and presentation of food you get here is as flavorful and aesthetically pleasing as in any Michelin starred restaurant but D’andre made the night even more special by throwing in a couple of freebies into our 5 course meal. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner and recommend it to anyone looking for a different type of dining experience! Oh! And you can also make it BYOB, which we did, and loved!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Moto, Ing and Tru under the direction of D’Andre and Heather, so when I found out they were branching out and launching their own underground restaurant I jumped at the chance to see what they’d learned and were turning out. Let me just say WOW, WOW, WOW! The atmosphere is casual and intimate, no jacket policy here! Come as you are, sit back and wait for the gastrogasm to occur. The courses that Chef Carter creates are as innovative as they are flavor forward and impeccably balanced by Ms. Bublick’s wine selections. I love that you never know who you’ll be dining with outside the guest that you may bring with. I’ve met a wide swath of Chicagoans and even residents of other countries. F&E truly brings people together.

My husband and I joined 3 other couples for an outstanding dinner on Mar 1^st. Each dish in our 7 course meal was beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. Everything was an absolute hit but some of the stand out dishes were the grapefruit chip, the pan seared scallops with vanilla smoke (that’s right, *smoke*), the «chicken alfredo» with truffles, and the amazing dessert finale; the foie gras milkshake. By the end of the meal I gave up any pretense of etiquete and was running my finger over the dish to get the last bits of the stellar sauces. The wine pairings were spot on and really highlighted Heather’s wine expertise.
Not only were the food and drink fantastic but the entire experience was really wonderfully structured. We all ate together at a large dining table and Heather and D’andre’s were very welcoming and attentive. I sincerely recommend that everyone experience the Feast & Imbibe pop up dinner. Not only is the food exceptionally delicious and creative but the dining experience can’t be beat. Loved it!

Feast & Imbibe is a popup dinner venue that kicked off in January of 2013; it is a collaboration of Chef D’Andre Carter (most recently of iNG and Moto) and Heather Bublick (formerly of Moto and Tru). While they are still developing, I had the pleasure of dining with them during their second night of service and everything was so well executed it was hard to believe it was a brand new venue! The first weekend of service consisted of a five course tasting menu (plus amuse bouche) paired with cocktails and wine for just $ 75. The dining space consisted of three communal tables for six and everybody is served courses at the same time; Chef Carter comes out and presents each dish tableside. We had some wonderful tablemates that added to the experience.
The food is modern, creative, interesting and most importantly tastes amazing. While everything was excellent, my favorite courses included a tea smoked octopus with basil gnocchi and abalone mushrooms; it was served wrapped up and opened tableside releasing a very pleasant smoky aroma that enhances the taste of the food. The best course was titled a Study of Quail and consisted of an edible bird’s nest (made of celery root) with a poached quail egg inside, surrounded by perfectly seared quail and «quail food» (it was garnished by foods quail eat such as corn and sunflower seeds); stunning presentation and incredibly delicious. The food is high end, but approachable.
Heather’s beverage pairings were spot on and really enhanced the experience (the first drink was a take on a Dark n Stormy cocktail served alongside ginger cotton candy that you were instructed to add to the beverage to sweeten it to your taste; the other pairings were some really good wines — two of which were so nice I wrote them down and plan to try and seek them out). Service was warm, attentive and friendly; everyone seemed so excited and passionate about the venue.
This was one of the most fun dining experiences I have had in recent history and definitely plan to return soon!
