Bobcat Pets

I got fired by Bob (owner of Bobcat) in the 80’s when he worked for Scamps because I TURNED HIM IN FOR DUMPING KITTENS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD on his way home one night! (we had them on medication for colds and in a hospital kennel and they were all doing great). He was our «new» manager and had only been there about two weeks. Upper Management ignored my complaint, and my reward was the sidewalk the next day when BOB fired me. BTW Bob did not deny doing this, and told me to my face when I worriedly asked where the kittens were when I came into work one morning. He said, «I got rid of them», I said, «You sold them? Gave them away?». Then he admitted he dumped them! I pleaded with him to tell me where he did it, and he said he didn’t know because it was on the side of the road on his way home,” & He did it because he was «Sick of looking at them». At the time I was a 2 year employee and had given IV meds to turtles and CPR to hamsters, we NEVER hurt animals and did out very best to keep all our pets healthy and happy, back then when you wanted to hold a puppy, we just brought them out and handed them to you to play with because we were eager to find them homes ! All that changed when BOB arrived. I won a Workers Comp claim and received medical care for mental anguish (PTSD) as a result of the emotional harm this caused me. I have never spoken about this publicly until today, and I think it’s time I do. I tried allowing for amends by going and patronizing his shop, and he remembers me by name, but never said a word about his horrible behavior at Scamps (VRC). No apology and no sign of remorse. Should you patronize a pet store owned by a guy who admittedly once dumped innocent kittens onto the road to die? You decide.

I went to Bobcat Pets today with my 19 year old daughter. When she asked to hold one of the puppies, the employee made her hand over her ID and escorted her to a rear aisle to stand under a security camera. When I figured out what was happening, I told the employee that I would never patronize a business that treats it’s customers like criminals.

This is the best pet store in Eugene. Let’s start with that it is locally owned. But to top it off they truly care about the animals that come in and out of their store. Even if that means they turn down business to a family that isn’t a right fit for an animal. To me this is very respectable and more important than just making some money. I have been shopping from them since I was a little kid. The customer service has always been great, the animals have always been healthy and well taken care of. I have owned two dogs from them that are great! Many reptiles, fish and birds as well. They always can answer any questions I have about the animals I get from them. I highly recommend this place for a good personal customer service experience with your furry friend. :)
