History

Established in 2014.

Surprise! Marcus, our founder, had twins. More precisely, Marcus’ wife Katy had twins and Marcus cheered. Marcus and Katy quickly needed to make room in their house. And Marcus needed help moving his dining room furniture and boxes of children’s clothes into storage. Traditional self-storage and mobile storage left Marcus alone to load, haul and stack furniture and boxes. Moving firms and mobile storage were way too expensive, even before the cost to get an item returned. So Marcus moved himself and ruined some furniture. Not too long thereafter, during one particularly late night holding babies, Marcus and Katy created Closetbox.

Closetbox simplifies storage by bringing convenient storage to your door. It is only a few clicks to order only the items you need to store. Closetbox picks up your valuables at your door, then secures in our warehouse. You no longer have to load, haul and stack. You can track their valuables through your account dashboard or via mobile app.

Meet the Business Owner

Marcus M.

Business Owner

Marcus founded Closetbox, Inc. out of a desperate search for additional space in their home but no free hands and no free days to move into a self storage unit.

Prior to Closetbox Marcus founded Capdominus, a marketing platform for commercial real estate brokers. Marcus and his technology partner, Dan Kunnath, co-founded Capdominus, bootstrapped its development, and grew it into a profitable venture. Capdominus still serves hundreds of real estate brokers and over 150,000 commercial real estate investors. Prior to Capdominus, Marcus was the President and Founder of New West Investment, LLC, a principal investment company that acquired and repositioned commercial real estate and asset-backed debt. Marcus received a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Duke University with a dual major in Economics and Public Policy. Marcus served as Chairman of the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program.
