Advanced Eye Care Center uses the most current, high quality, wave front lenses and coatings out in the market.

We offer the latest in ultra thin lenses, and premium glare coatings from Crizal, offering wearers a two-​year warranty on their lenses. We fit progressive wearers, new and experienced, with wave front technology lenses from Essilor. Wave front lenses combine SynchronEyes Technology, Nanoptix Technology, and 4D Technology, providing the wearer with expansive vision, faster visual reaction time, and stability in motion by eliminating all swim in the periphery.

Contact lens wearers are fit with lenses that utilizes the latest contact lens technology that aim for the best clarity, comfort, and safety. Dr. Hansen specializes in hard-​to-​fit patients and complex prescriptions.

Business Owner

Dr. Michael W. Hansen received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry, graduating Suma Cum Laude in 2000. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from California State University of Fullerton with honors. Dr. Hansen’s dedication to individualized care has led him to treat many diverse patient constituents from treating partially sighted Veterans, to assisting with several different ophthalmic surgical procedures in Alaska, and serving as clinical director of several different FDA studies on contact lenses and contact lens solutions.

Dr. Hansen is currently is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, South Bay Optometric Society, Torrance and the Manhattan Beach Chambers of Commerce.

Dr. Hansen and his wife Christine, along with their twins, Owen and Ella reside in Rancho Palos Verdes. If not at the office, Dr. Hansen enjoys his time on the water pursuing his passion for fresh and saltwater angling.

The worst experience I’ve ever had with an eye doctor office.
This place is just too slickly run. From the moment I was called back, they tried to upsell me on an extra exam that isn’t covered by insurance. Every person I was ferreted around to see commented with mock surprise that I opted against this exam with the extra fee it carries and remarked in hushed serious tone almost verbatim that «you know we highly recommend it, it can turn up serious problems you may not know about».
At the end of my exam I was brought out to a table for my «contact lens fitting». I have worn the exam same contact lens for 8 years. There was no mention of a fee for this, I basically just put a pair of my same daily contact lens in, then got up to leave, but not before seeing the bill. All of my past eye exams elsewhere have been free, covered by my unchanged insurance. This one charged an extra $ 80 for the bs unnecessary lens fitting. Such a scam. I called back to object after confirming I’ve never been charged for past appointments, but it fell on deaf ears.
And now, over a year later, I continue to be harassed by calls and emails imploring that it’s time for my next appointment. I won’t be having that. From top to bottom, I couldn’t have regretted my last appointment more.
The ironic thing is I decided to go to target on la cienega for my latest appointment, and wouldn’t you know it had a super cool doctor, no attempted upsell, they price match contacts, no extra charges, and a policy where you only get future appointment reminders if you fill out a card requesting them. Who would have guessed target would have more of a small town, down to earth feel than this place?
I don’t blame the people who work at advanced, to my eye it appears they have been extensively trained by marketers on what to say and when to say it. If you do go here, I suggest you keep your eyes peeled and unfortunately go to great lengths to be clear about which services have a fee and which do not.

The entire staff is courteous, friendly and helpful. The office is spotless. Dr. Wong clearly explained my eye issues and took the extra time to ensure a slight change to my prescription would truly benefit me now. My insurance benefits were explained thoroughly and there were no «hidden» costs.

A rip off joint. I need specially made contacts and they take 2+ weeks to get them in store. Finally got fed up of waiting and went to Modo Optometry in MDR that have them in stock all the time. 6 months after I got a bill from an assistant for the contacts that I never even picked up and had CANCELLED over the phone that the lady at the time confirmed was cancelled. The assistant said there are no notes in the system about my canceling.
I called them about the bill to sort things out and the assistants put me on hold for over 5 minutes. I called back and someone else picked up the phone and put me on hold again before the manager came on and confirmed that they will cancel the invoice.

The doc & staff were super helpful, friendly and informative. They went above and beyond what I’m normally used to (I’m lookin’ at you, Lens Crafters).

Dr. Tracy Wong is always pleasant to deal with as is the staff.
Good selection of frames and sunglasses, although they seem pricey to me, but I haven’t really shopped for eye glasses much so they might be comparable.

The best of the best! I wish I had been coming here for all my eye care needs in previous years. I just left from my first appointment today. The receptionist is SUPER nice and personable. All the staff is very nice. They explain everything to you clearly so you can understand it. Meeting with the doctor was awesome. He explained my eye issues (I have a lot) that are going on and seemed genuinely concerned. I just bought my new glasses and am so exited to be going back just for the simple fact that they made my day better and less stressful.

Best eye exam ever! Dr. Hansen and his staff are very professional, thorough & courteous. The office is very clean and welcoming. I felt comfortable the whole time. All my questions were answered. My insurance coverage was clearly explained. I highly recommend this eye care center. I will return for my next visit!

I have needed glasses the majority of my life, so I’m quite picky about where I go for my eyes. I love going here. The staff is very knowledgeable, selection of glasses is great, and it is in a convenient location. Dr. Hansen will explain things and is mindful if you have more severe situations like in my case where my family has a history of eye disease. The latest technology is used and they do know about the latest advances in eye care.
I have been going to this office since the previous owner doctor (Dr. Christopher Orenic) that passed away way too young. So I wasn’t actively looking for a doctor when Dr. Hansen took over the practice. I decided to give Dr. Hansen a chance and I’m glad I did. He has been great and the staff has always been wonderful.

I am a patient of Dr. Wong at this facility. She’s great and the office staff is prompt, helpful and responsive. I have been a customer for many years (since the previous doctor, Dr. Orenic; unfortunately, he passed away). I have recommended them to my husband and others. A very pleasant and thorough experience. They even recommended my LASIK surgeon, and that went great!

About 90 percent of my time at work is spent in front of a computer and I wear glasses, so every year I get my eyes checked.
This was the second time I’ve been to Advanced Eyecare and even though the ownership has changed, the quality of the exam still impresses me. I met with Dr. Wong and found the information she provided pertinent to why my eyes were scratchy — they were dry! She gave me drops which have helped and also increased my prescription for reading glasses which was a surprise because I thought I didn’t need any.
I love the tortoiseshell Lindberg frameless frames!

My 6 year old son & myself were referred to Dr Hansen because of his excellent reputation. He was extremely thorough & took great care of both of us.
I did not need glasses a but my 6 did. They had many nice choices of «cool» frames & sports goggles for him to choose from which made him excited to wear new glasses in front of his new classmates.

I gotta say this place is top notch. Their customer service is superb. I came here for the first time 5 – 6 years ago when Dr. Orenic was there, and was impressed. Now that Dr. Wong and her team are there, it is still a quality eye care center.
I lost my glasses recently on a trip to Austin, Texas (yeah I was a little inebriated, sue me). I visited Advanced Eyecare for a new pair. Firstly, they have a varied selection of frames, from designer to regular. I favor myself as a classy gentleman haha, and really like the Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss ones.
The tests that they run are thorough. I had some questions regarding my new pair, and Dr. Wong was more than happy to talk to me about various options. She explained everything. On top of that, I scratched my new lenses within a couple months of getting them, and they offered to get some new lenses at no cost! Now that is truly impressive, most places would be greedy and charge hundreds to get them fixed. I highly recommend Advanced Eyecare if you need a new pair of glasses or sunglasses. They will find what is right for you.

My very first eye exam. I did not know what to expect or encounter, but I know after 34 years of having eyes I needed to go!
I was greeted by Megan at the front who took care of all my paper work and also some preliminary tests that were a breeze and simple to do.
I then met with Dr. Hansen who introduced himself and asked right away if I had a questions or concerns before we started.
Told him this was my first time and I needed to get my eyes checked.
Dr Hansen then went into the exam which was a breeze and talked his way all the way through it. Simple.
If you need glasses there plenty to choose from, enough for anyone’s style these days.
The office was clean, staff was friendly and I walked out with my eyes still intact.
Theres plenty of parking (make sure you get it validated)

Well, i can say that i had Dr Hansen and was very happy with the service. This was the 2nd time in my life of visiting an optometrist, and i am a very inquisitive patient, especially if a doctor tries to throw gobbelty-​gook terms at you — Dr Hansen didnt. Dr Hansen asked me some questions and also explained very well what each machine did (and they have a lot of machines!)
All of their equipment is very high tech and computerized. I left there very impressed on the advancement of eye equipment — and they seem to have it.
Dr Hansen also assured me that although ive lived over 4 decades without corrective eyewear, that i will prefer to have clearer vision for the certain scenarios where i cant see as well. (i likely will only wear looking in conference rooms where i noticed stuff was getting blurry, at least for now)
I selected a set of frames that were much more expensive in the store that online (same model, etc) but with insurance covering majority of it, i guess that is what they do. i left there with a nice lady fitting me with a pair of Hugo Boss frames (they were far from the most expensive, actually the cheapest of the style i liked) and set me off on my way. I guess ill start the eyeglass wearing in 2 – 3 weeks when the glasses arrive.
Bottom line, i chose the right place, i enjoyed the experience. and i left with a better understanding of my eye health and eye capability. I strongly recommend Dr Hansen, particularly for the engineer-​type of person.

I called the same day to see if i can look at there selection of eyeglasses. The receptionist was very kind and gave me a option to pick a time I said anytime. She gave me a time between 1pm and 2pm. I arrived during my set time and Sandy Vu assist me. She so cute. They have a large selection of glasses. She took time to help me pick out some great glasses. I didn’t purchase the eyeglasses right away because I am gonna have My daughter see them for her opinion. Sandy Vu gave me her card with the number on the eyeglasses on it. It’s no pressure to buy and yes they do validate. Matter of fact they ask for your ticket before you even ask for validation.

I have been going to the Advanced Eye Care Center of Manhattan Beach for a few years now on the strong recommendation of my wife’s and have been very pleased with their top notch service.
On my most recent visit I was confused by no mention of the Optometrist I had been seeing, the owner Dr. Orenic, and learned only afterwards of his recent passing. That said, Doctors Hansen and Wong have not let the standards fall and I had an excellent exam experience.
The staff was very friendly and efficient, the facilities very clean and well-​organized, and Dr. Wong did an excellent job. Based on this experience I believe I will continue my patronage of this facility for a long time to come.
