BEWARE. These guys are a SCAM. They are NOT licensed locksmiths and their business isn’t even licensed. They are a FOREIGN CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION that is based out of Israel. This youtube video explains the entire operation. SHARE THIS VIDEO with your friends and family:
Many of their so-​called «locksmiths» are actually illegal aliens who have criminal records. These are dangerous people who you do NOT want anywhere near you or your house. They create fake websites and ads via lead generation and try to outnumber the REAL locksmiths by flooding Google’s search engines. They buy local numbers to APPEAR like they’re local, but the addresses listed on their website are FAKE. These addresses belong to stores like UPS, shopping malls, residences, etc. When you call these «local» numbers, you are routed to a dispatch center which then contacts the con-​man nearest to your area to come out to your address.
When the con-​man comes to your house or car, he will show up in an UNMARKED VEHICLE and will often look rough or unkempt. He will then proceed to tell you that your lock is «special» or «high security» and that because of this, he just HAS to charge you more than you were originally quoted. Classic bait-​and-​switch. Most people are so desperate to get into their house or car that they just agree to pay. Also, most people have NO experience with locksmiths, so they don’t KNOW the going rates for certain services. These con-​men know this.
If you try to argue with them about the charge, they will intimidate and even threaten you into paying. They will LIE TO YOUR FACE about the validity of their prices and will say things like «You will not find better anywhere else». This is a LIE, and they do it so easily because they think that Americans are stupid and naïve. They have NO RESPECT FOR YOU.
NOTICE that the 5-​star reviews on Unilocal are all based in Los Angeles or Van Nuys. THIS IS WHERE ONE OF THEIR «BUSINESSES» IS BASED. These 5-​star reviews are NOT from real customers, they are from people who are IN ON THE CON.
If you find yourself in the middle of a scam, get AS MUCH information as you can, including the license plate of the technician’s car. Ask for ID (they don’t have any, and being an unlicensed locksmith in California IS ILLEGAL). Contact your local police station letting them know what has happened to you. The word is spreading about these scammers and more and more people know their game. SPREAD THE WORD and PROTECT others from falling prey to these cons.

Beware…this company is a total rip off. They charged me $ 1000 and never finished the job. I needed to get into my house and they showed up in wrecked up van. The guy did not know how to «pick my locks», so he proceeded to drill them out and bill me for crappy locks that didn’t work. He left my house in a mess and without a dead bolt on my garage door overnight. Steer clear of this company or you will be ripped off too.

We called 3 locksmiths in downtown San Francisco finally we got this number from a local store the young man was very nice to my nephew and give him 2 keys so it will never happen agin, all and all very nice company thank you very much.

Finally A hassle free locksmith service so I called and was able to get a quote over the phone I was in need of having my locks change after talking to the dispatcher I emailed some pictures of the I locks I was looking for and got the price on the spot I got the service today the locksmith was a very cool dude and knows his stuff I will definitely recommend rock a lock locksmith agin !

RIP-​OFF!
The good: locksmith showed up within 20 minutes and unlocked my car for me (I locked the keys inside) in less than 5 minutes
The bad: I was charged $ 225! For less than 5 minutes of labor. Last year, I had my car unlocked by a different locksmith and was charged $ 60 for the exact same service. When I told the locksmith this fact he dismissed it and told me I was wrong. My phone was dead at this point and I was in a hurry so I had no choice but to pay. What a rip off.
In short, find someone else.

Barry Thomas responded within ten minutes, and arrived at the home from which I was locked out within another ten minutes. He was able to open the lock, which was very old and difficult, and replace the lock, which I requested, immediately. Very professional and courteous and prompt service.

It all happened on a Sunday afternoon. My elderly Aunt was locked out her house in San Francisco and the key would not open the front door. Rock-​A-​Lock came to my house and said her lock was broken and within 35 minutes they had taken out the broken lock and put in a new lock. They charged $ 55 for service charge, $ 200 for lock out service, $ 95 lock drilling service, $ 155 for Schlage lock for a total cost of $ 505.00. She was robbed. The company is a scammer. To make matters worst, they did not tell her upfront what the charges were and asked that she pay in cash so she had to borrow money from neighbors since she did not have the cash. They left without leaving a receipt and when I called them to send a receipt it took 3 follow ups and 3 weeks to finally get an emailed receipt. Their excuse was that they were too busy to send me the email receipt. Do not use this company!

Ty Ty Ty Ty you know to finds a good locksmith on the 4^th at 2am all I can say is you guys ROCK !!!

This company came out on the same day assessed my door lock and then said he didn’t have a new lock to install but that he just came from a house and had a perfectly good lock we could buy and it should be just fine.
What were we suppose to do.
We spent 300 for the used lock including labor. To top it off, even though
the door is rarely used,
6 months later the lock stop functioning.
We called and they said they only had a 3 month warranty and would not offer any discount — too bad for us.
They wouldn’t even call me back
Absolutely unacceptable, thank god for the co we found a new trustworthy company locally.
They arrived in their truck with supplies and prepared to handle our issue The locksmith showed us the missing spring and part of the bolt was broken and it should have not been sold or installed
I’m going to the better business bureau to file a complaint
We have a one year warranty on our brand new lock
Don’t use rock a lock ever

So we called 925−291−4003 Listed as Locksmith Livermore and made an appointment — We were told to replace a door lock its a 15.00 service call and 35.00 labor — Yeah Right $ 109.00 later he replaced only a door latch which they charged 59.00 for — If we wanted our Lock installed it would have been an additional 89.00 — Rip Off — they are misleading — When we finally got a copy of the invoice which was another bad experience (they e mail it to you) its under Rock A lock Which isnt who I called ??

I got locked out of my house (yeah, I know… Not my best moment…) and I had a friend who used them for some work on her house, so she gave me their number. Right of the bat, they said that since I called them through a referral, I would get 10% off! After I gave the lady on the phone my address, I went back to my car to wait in the AC. The locksmith guy came in like 20 minutes which I thought was pretty great and opened the door for me so quickly! So basically, the whole process took about 30 minutes or so, and I was home.
I hope not to need these guys again (lol…) but I will def recommend them to a friend!

I lost my keys and decided to get my door locks, mailbox, and car locks changed. The mail box was great, the door locks, he originally put the old locks back on with a different knob for the key hole part and the bottom lock wouldn’t even lock. I get my car key they made and it has a crumpled up receipt in it to hold the computer chip. They had to do the electronics and the locks in my door and steering wheel. I gave them the benefit of the doubt we paid $ 600.00 for 5 locks and he said it beats the dealership price. He also claimed to be insured because he had to be to work at Tesla in Fremont which is where my husband works. We saw an online 5 star rating. I got in my car to go to school and noticed my car steering wheel was shaking I thought it was fine, didn’t really look past it, that evening I drove through the Calaveras hills from Fremont to Milpitas, CA and my steering wheel locked up and I crashed into a mud mountain. I was lucky I didn’t fall off a cliff if it locked the other way. I went and got an estimate, there is almost $ 6,000 of damage on my car. I had the locksmith come back to fix my door locks and show him the damage on my car and he looked freaked out. I am going to check with better business bureau and contractor’s licensing to see if they are even a licensed operation. I have a long road ahead of me and it took a few days to get over the whip lash. I’m glad I healed up fast! Only a couple days of muscle relaxers, I got to thank my husband for medical insurance!

Worst experience ever. Called this company to get back into my apartment this morning — the guy shows up until 45 minutes after I called but they said it would be 15 minutes. Charged me $ 189 to open the door — took him 2 minutes to do the job.
They won’t quote you the cost over the phone — only the $ 15 service charge. Then they gouge you a minimum of $ 165 + other fees after it’s done.
I never leave bad reviews but this was just terrible.

I just had to have the Rock a Lock technician Elie escorted from my house. I called San Mateo Locks in San Mateo for a locksmith. Somehow, I ended up with Rock a Lock, and it was awful. The technician showed up and said that I had complicated locks to rekey and it would be $ 500 for a front and back door. I said that sounds high but ok. He then told me that he had to go to Home Depot for the right screwdriver, but I had to pay him $ 150, before he left. I said that I would pay him when he finished the job, not before. I asked him to come back tomorrow, as it was getting late, and I had guests coming over. He got very testy. I called my next door neighbor to come over and escort him off of the property. Which he did. Don’t call this company, it is a scam. Judging from the poor reviews, I’m not the first person who had this type of service.
AMENDED: WHEN I CALLED THE MANAGER, HE WAS EVEN WORSE. THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS, THEY ARE TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS

Just got my door locks on my car fixed.
found Rock-​a-​lock online, the guy was able to come to my house so I thought that was a plus.
I am very surprised that their rating is so low. Maybe the guys who work down in this area are better.
Over-​all it was a pretty good experience. good price, didn’t take too long, friendly service. I would certainly use them again.

I don’t write very many reviews on here because generally I think there’s enough already. But this place warrants a review. I called this place at 10:30am. They service the Sacramento and surrounding areas and they have a 15 – 45 min guarantee so I figured they would arrive on time. I didn’t even need them that soon. I made an appointment with them for 2:30pm thinking that would give them more than enough time to make my appointment time. My car was locked in a dealer yard and they close the gate at 3:30pm so I needed them to be on time or at least somewhat on time.
2:30pm swings by, no call. 2:45pm, no call. I finally called them at 2:50pm and asked where the locksmith was. The dispatcher said he would check and have the locksmith call me back. The locksmith called me finally at 2:55pm and told me that he couldn’t make it until 3:45pm or possibly 4:00pm at the earliest. And if he ends up not making that then it would have to be the next morning. WTF? Really? Do you guys have absolutely NO REGARD for other people’s time?
I can say, however, the dispatchers seem to be very friendly, but that doesn’t translate over to their locksmiths. Oh and let’s not forget the fact that they won’t quote you an actual price when everyone who’s called a locksmith before knows what the going rate is for a transponder key. Don’t believe their 10% online discount. They will just quote you a higher price when they arrive. I’m serious about this one… AVOID. AT. ALL. COSTS.
Luckily I called another locksmith who was able to arrive within 20 mins and who also provided an upfront price quote with no service fees and taxes included.

Got locked out of the house, called these guys and they came within 45 minutes. Not bad, considering it was 10pm. However, I asked the receptionist how much it would cost and all she could tell me was a $ 15 service charge and whatever the technician needed to charge based on the type of lock. The technician was nice and friendly enough, but he charged me $ 200 for a 30 second service!!! And, he literally told me the price as he was already opening the door!!! I should have told him to stop, but I was in a stressed state of mind.
Not thirty minutes after this guy left, I went out to walk the dog, remembering my keys this time. When I returned, the key didn’t even fit into the lock… and I was locked out A SECOND TIME!!! I called the company, and a different guy called saying that the technician who originally helped me’s phone was not working. Waited an additional 45 minutes for the new guy to show up and fix the problem… by this time it was 1am.
Only positive feedback is that the technicians are nice, Ami was the second guy and he was helpful and pleasant.
Avoid this place, wish I had read the Unilocal reviews first before I called! :(expensive lesson learned.

SUMMARY:
0 Stars if possible. Poor customer service and terrible on-​site experience with technician. Discrepancies with what was communicated to customer via phone vs. on-​site. Lack of full disclosure on price. Failed attempt at picking a hitch lock. Technician had a combative and argumentative persona and demeanor. Overall poor experience, bad business. A waste of time, money, and effort.
EXPERIENCE:
Office schedules 3:30 PM appointment, but technician arrives at 4:30 PM. Technician blames customer for lack of communication and late response.
Office tells customer that service fee was $ 10 + $ 25 for hitch pick. Technician assesses hitch and tells customer service fee is $ 15 + 150 for hitch pick. BIG DIFFERENCE! Customer is confused and tells technician otherwise.
Technician gets on phone with manager using foreign language and seems very irate. Hangs up phone and continues with task without resolution between manager and customer.
Technician attempts to pick hitch lock and fails. Customer ends up paying service fee. Incomplete task and service. Customer is not happy. Technician suggests customer to drill it themselves? Very unprofessional. Technician asks customer why hitch needs to be removed (this is representative of technician’s incompetence and lack of knowledge of what a hitch is).
Office fails to tell customer that hitch would need to be assessed to determine price in the first place. Otherwise customer would not have proceeded with business.
SUGGESTION:
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! THERE ARE OTHER HIGHLY RATED, PROFESSIONAL, AND HONEST LOCKSMITH COMPANIES.

They arrived quickly this morning here in San Francisco and the technician «David» gave me two options, one including the use of a «special tool» that would not require my locked being taken out and a new one being replaced. The cost of the «special tool» option was more than just the labor. Of course being in a hurry, I was stuck and had to go with the «special tool» option. When he got it from his car it was the standard locksmith wire that all technicians have. I called him on it and he got flustered and defensive. This company is a complete scam and do NOT use them. This is one of the few reviews I’ve ever written but I want to warn people against this service.
