Hoban Management

Had to select one star to say something! They are racists, and smile in your face, then stab you on the back! Go look for a property managed by a real company if want to stay problem free!

I first arrived at Greenfield Meadows in El Cajon to see what properties if and/​or any were available. I met the property manager Donna Huckins and she informed me that none were available but she had other properties with Hoban that may fit my needs. She was very helpful and polite and found me a property that was just perfect. I have met other management companies that have not been as receptive. I feel that Donna is an asset to this company and is very professional and went above and beyond to help me and my family.

I had a very pleasant experience dealing with Hoban in Pacific Beach at the «Ni-​Si Apartments», 4135 Ingraham Street, Pacific Beach. Kathy G. is the property manager for this building, which is one of the nicest, cleanest, well-​maintained properties of its type in the 92 109. Kathy was a true professional and easy to work with, and she made the entire application process a pleasure. She is a credit to Hoban and a true professional.

Hoban clearly has alternate motives — out with the old being the first. My older/​disabled mother was served with an eviction notice without clear reason as to why/​how it came to be after 12 years of being a resident. She has been completely blindsided, left in a financial hardship and is under undue stress to pack/​move/​sell items. To add insult to injury, Hoban posted a warning note on her door because items (caused by having to box up everything and MOVE… did they forget?) other than patio furniture where suddenly on her enclosed patio. Excuses seem to be their best defense if they don’t want to answer to or stand up to their actions. Don’t trust this company any farther than you can spit.

Wow … After I read the reviews I think my damages were less but I will submit a complaint to the BBB ,
They are liars and manipulative, those plastic smiles and lying words, that’s how you destroy your business .
some one should stop them from abusing tenants, I am surprised how no one sued them yet, they should be put out of business,

35% rent increase is pure evil. What kind of company does this to the Elderly and Disabled? Within one week after taking over «management» at our complex this company did it. This company has their bottom line in mind only. They are more than OK causing little old ladies deep financial hardship.

Place on Washington Ave, was a nice place to live, till they brought in a manager from Arizona, everything been going down hill since and rent going up. My rent went up twice in the last 12 month, last week a got a letter saying your rent will go up another 100. You got kids playing Baseball, Soccer, Football in front of other people’s doors, few months ago a window was shattered by soccer ball, after so many tries to complex manager who is always in LALAland, I went to Hoban Management and they are worst than her.

Manager at The Pines is never there.
Kids playing ball and bothering other tenants all the time
Everyone fighting over a parking spot, manager got 3 cars and 5 parking spots
Rent goes up every 5 or 6 months
2 tenants left this place because of manager and more moving out soon

Slumlords. Our rent has been raised twice since DEC and the conditions have only gotten worse. This complex is miserable and overpriced as it is. Now with yet another rent increase we are being forced out of our home. Shame on this company.

My boyfriend and I are the in shock by the way this company is doing things. Totally heartless of people unfortunate situation. Not willing to work with a tenet that has paid on time for a 1 yr. But quick to serve eviction and putting a good family out on the street. Lowest of lows.

I guess I’m just going to call my property manager out. Shelia is a horrible property manager. She gives us a contract a day before our lease was suppose to be renewed and blames it on her granddaughter being sick. Which I could give a flying fuck. There are people that like paying their rent on time and when you have to call several times to see when the new contract will fall into effect it’s horrible. Shelia, please give your job to someone else it seems like you can’t handle it under pressure. I’d give this review a negative star if I could.

I wish I could give Hoban less than one star. They are a terrible, I repeat TERRIBLE management company who does not care about the tenants in their properties at all. They are extremely unprofessional & will not return phone calls– EVER. My husband & I have had to harass them just to get any kind of response.
They hired a completely incompetent manager for our apartments who is gone every single day & leaves the responsibilities of managing the complex to his idiot wife who knows absolutely NOTHING about property management & who once illegally tried to enforce a 3-​day quit eviction process against us. Thank god I know what my renters rights are. We have had our personal property disposed of after we made verbal agreements with the so-​called «manager» about keeping it, there has been an ongoing construction project on our building for months that’s just sitting stagnant because Hoban always tries to find the lowest bidder instead of trying to efficiently finish the project, to the detriment of their tenants.
Since Hoban has taken over our complex, about 90% of the longtime residents have vacated due to their abysmal management. Tonight a teenager kicked a soccer ball through my kitchen window, I took the ball down to the apartment managers wife (of course, because he was unavailable as always) & she tried to placate me then had the audacity to tell me I had to fill out a work order for them to fix the window, like I caused the damage. Oh & guess what, the kids who caused the damage were their guests. The apartment manager then went out into our parking lot right underneath my window with his guests & laughed about what happened. He didn’t come up to assess the damage, or see what happened, NOTHING. At this point I really shouldn’t be surprised, the dummy they hired is so under qualified for the job it’s comical. Hoban is garbage. If they take over your complex, look for another place to live ASAP.

Cause one is the lowest… horrible

I was renting an apartment at their Pepper Tree Gardens apartment. Everything was alright until I moved out. The final walk thru by the manager, Anita Sherman, was satisfactory. I asked her if I was getting a full refund of my rent deposit and she said that she thought so.
Two weeks later, I received a check from them for less the amount of my rent deposit. I wrote them 2 letters to try and get the remaining of the deposit back, but only half of it was returned.
Their reason for keeping some of the rent deposit was for things that wasn’t even mentioned during the final walk-​through. They gave me the copy of the walk-​thru paper, and it was obvious that they added those «issues that needed fixing» after the final walk thru!!!
They are very dishonest and I wouldn’t recommend honest people to rent their properties.

Like the other have said Hoban is smokers dream. The upper management did help after the onsite manager could not do anything, but now that I have smoking neighbors on all sides I had to but and air purifier and have to leave the windows closed all day. This barely helps. I would not recommend this to anyone who is a non smoker.

Chase avenue apartments have a careless manager, not at the property most of the time .and if you leave him a voice messege he do not reply excusing that he could not recognize the phone no. !!!
