Better than most hotel bar/restaurants. Pleasant acoustic guy from 7−9pm. Good food, cold drinks.

Amazing food and friendly service. Truer the salmon and that strip steak both were amazing.

I love Ocean View at Indigo Del Mar. They have the best margaritas made by Brace who is also a huge NBA fan and the burger cooked by Chef Adrian is amazing.

Travelzoo offer — $ 45 dollar= 2 drinks, app to share, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. I work in the area so we went early and had any early dinner and the place and service to ourselves for most of our dinner. We had our appetizer and a drink on the patio while the sun set(crab-cake/calamari= YUM!) we moved into the dining room and had dinner there(The Patriots were playing and we don’t miss a game). Both of our entrees were delicious, I had a tasty burger and he had the dish that had all of the seafood which I couldn’t stop sampling! That was also delish! We will go back. The one negative I guess would be that you are not RIGHT on the beach as I had hoped but you can still, at the right angle, see the sunset over the ocean and it is a beautiful view!

This was just ok. The photos on the internet are deceptive– you cannot really see the sunset by the firepit. There are seats by where you can see sunset, they’re limited. It would be smart if they moved more seating over to that end of the pool so you can actually see the sunset on the ocean. If you’re staying at the hotel, it’s fine but we are local and came for the view. I was disappointed that you couldn’t see sunset from main seating area. Service was slow but it was peaceful. We ordered burgers and beers. Burgers were fine. They have a good local beer selection. It’s not terrible, it’s not great, it’s just ok.

Went there for dinner. The service was great. The food was NOT! Calamari appetizer seemed to be like it was frozen. Waste of calories. My seafood and pasta was fair, as the tomato white wine sauce seemed to be more like something out of a can. My date’s salmon was unevenly cooked, and she complained the vegetables were drown in butter. The cheesecake was artificial tasting and terrible. My date even said it looked bad. Her chocolate cake was mediocre at best. I will never eat there again. Not worth it. I know of many better taco shops for much less money.

Ocean view?! HA! We had a good laugh about that, you’d have to be a giraffe to actually enjoy(or even SEE!) the view. The food was good, presentation was better. The waiter was good, the bus girl was better(so friendly and helpful and nice!). The facilities are well maintained and updated. For the price? Not worth it. If you’re outside you eat smack dab in the middle of the hotel courtyard, overlooking the swimming pool below. If you’re inside it may be better, but it’s open and adjacent to the hotel lobby. Menu selection was ok, but they only had three desserts! Costco has more desserts! I kinda had the feel that this place was trying to imitate a fancy, upscale restaurant. It puts on a good façade, but the bones just aren’t there.

Sat down to a dimly lit romantic ocean view dinner around 8:30 pm. We were on the«upper deck» of the outdoor seating. The view and the service was good, the food was meh. The selection was more of a «all American» then a local, gourmet, seafood type place that I was hoping for. Less fancy then I thought it might be. My clams on angel hair in garlic white sauce was very bland. Had to salt it heavily for some flavor. The wine was good, but the worst part about it was a large party left near us and they turned the flood lights on to clear the tables COMPLETELY killing the mood. There are large flood lights on the roof lighting up the upper deck tables. Really annoying light, other customers were complaining about it. Horrible feeling in the middle of dinner. They left these lights on like they were closing up shop. So much for our romantic dinner. The manager in a Hawaiian shirt just stood there under the light like nothing was the matter. It’s like when a bar turns on the lights on for last call. I was pretty pissed. Guys, please, the mood and ambiance is a huge part of the dining experience. Shut off those damn lights until you’re closed. Thanks.

Bought the Travelzoo voucher for dinner and drinks for two. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the pool with the ocean in the background… lovely! The food was truly exceptional and the portions were enormous. The Cioppino Pasta is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had in a restaurant; beautiful mussels, shrimp, and fish in a very light tomato cream broth with penne. We both took leftovers home; just so much yummy food! Brace was a terrific host and bartender and made great recommendations. I will most definitely return for happy hour, lunch or dinner. The service is a bit slow, so be prepared. This is not a stop-in and have a quick meal type of place. Relax and enjoy!

Great food at a very reasonable price. Pleasant staff, plus a wonderful outside patio to enjoy the sunny San Diego weather. Will definitely be back.

Our server Brace was great! The restaurant is really nice and has good views. The food was solid. We had the steak and cioppino and enjoyed both. The calamari was also a good starter

Tried the TravelZoo deal for 4 on the patio. Kind of hard to find the restaurant, there are no signs but it’s next to the Hotel Lobby. Patio is ok but it really needed to be cleaned and spruced up. The furniture was kind of gross and surfaces hadn’t been wiped down in a while. There were a couple of portable heaters but all of them were out of propane and the waiter didn’t make any effort to get more so we were a little chilly. We chose this place because they claimed to have an ocean view and we made a reservation at sunset, but there was no ocean view at all except from the far side of the patio where there were 2 tables, but the waiter said we couldn’t sit there because it was too far for him to walk. Everything we ordered was really good and nice portions. The waiter was very nice and offered good advice regarding menu choices. He was alone and service was pretty slow, but he remained friendly despite having to ask him repeatedly for things like condiments, bread, drinks, etc. They were also out of a few minor things like root beer and whipped cream, just enough to make it unlikely I’d return. If I had paid the full $ 200 instead of the TZoo rate I would have asked to see the manager. Could be a good spot if someone was paying a little more attention to the details. The food gets 4 stars but the restaurant overall gets 2.

We purchased the travelzoo offer for this restaurant. We used it last night for my birthday. We got to the restaurant and it was filled with drunk middle aged people dancing to mediocre at best live music. Our waiter was relatively inattentive, and told us the first thing we ordered wasn’t good. And then when we went with a different appetizer, he brought us what he recommended… which was NOT what we ordered. My husband enjoyed his main entrée, while mine(the mac and cheese) was about the size of my hand… and definitely not filling for an entrée. The desert that came with our travelzoo was literally vanilla ice cream with some chopped strawberries on it. Overall the service took forever, the food was sub par, and the atmosphere was not welcoming at all. We will never go back.

My gf and I decided to try this place because we were visiting SD from the Bay Area. We know about this place because of the travelzoo deal, so we bought it for dinner for 2. We made reservation ahead of time and referenced the travelzoo deal. This restaurant is located inside the Indigo Hotel, next to the lobby. It has a bar with seating inside and outside. When we arrived there were decent amount of people sitting at the bar, inside, and outside. There was a guy singing and playing his guitar live. Not sure if he was hired by the place or just one of the customers. Our server, Brace, seated us and proceeded to explain the menu and what was included in the travelzoo deal(appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts). The food was amazing. Much better than I was expected from a hotel. Also, per the menu, the ingredients are organic. The foods dotaste really fresh. The service was great. Later in the night, more people came to dinner with the travelzoo deal too. Services got slower due to limited staff(3 –1 bartender, 2 servers). I suggest you make reservation for earlier dinner between 6:30 — 7:30pm. The hotel has 10 — 12 parking spaces in the front, but it does get full really fast. I don’t mind eating here again if we are visiting nearby.

Holy moley, this place sucks. There was no hostess(or host) to greet us as we entered the«restaurant,» which actually consisted of no more than a few semi-circular booth-tables inside a bar. After standing there feeling lame for a few minutes(while we looked at all the unbussed tables), we walked over to the bar and asked to be seated. The bartender said he «thought» there was a waiter somewhere, but he had disappeared to «the back.» We first tried to sit out on the patio, but as it was a bit chilly, we asked if they could turn on the patio heaters. We were informed that they were«out of propane.» So, we went back inside and sat down at a dirty table(no other choice) and waited. Despite the fact that we were two of only 14 people in the entire restaurant(a party of 8 and a very disgruntled family of 4, who could be heard complaining in quiet tones of the fact that it had been 15 minutes since they’d asked for their bill), we waited 10 minutes before we even saw a menu, which I had to ask for. When the bartender(doubling as waiter, since his colleague never did materialize from«the back») finally came by and asked what we wanted, we asked for 2 glasses of Zinfandel. What he brought us 10 minutes later tasted like vinegar. I was afraid to complain, lest it occasion yet another delay, but we could hardly drink that slop. So, I rather timidly indicated our displeasure. The bartender/waiter said he would replace the wine, but then gave us no choice on the replacement; he simply brought another 2 glasses of bad wine. When, at our request, one of the dirty tables was finally bussed(by our bartender/waiter/busboy), we sat down and waited another 10 minutes before the same guy came and took our order. I wanted to order the steak, but the waiter«didn’t remember» what kind of steak it was(WTF? Seriously?). So, I skipped the steak and we ordered salmon and«cioppino pasta.» We also ordered the cheese plate. 20 minutes passed. Finally, the waiter-cum-busboy explained to us that the kitchen was«really backed up because of room-service orders,» so it would be another 10 minutes before we would see our cheese plate. Seriously? I mean, how much time does it take to throw some cheese chunks onto a board?! The cheeseboard arrived some 10 minutes later as promised(by now we’d been in this depressing and maddening establishment for an hour), but it was sans the fig preserves promised on the menu. When I brought this to the attention of the waiter, he frowned applogetically and explained that the kitchen was«out of a lot of stuff tonight.» So, we just ate the cheese. The waiter did try to make up for it by giving us a complimentary salad, but a free salad is a poor substitute for the thing you actually wanted. The entrees came hard on the heels of the appetizer(we weren’t even halfway through it). And now we come to the only reason this place got 2 stars instead of 1: the salmon was delicious. Perfectly cooked, with a delicately seasoned crust and set atop firm-crisp grilled vegetables. My «cioppino pasta» was tasty, but a good half of the mussels remained unopened in their shells and had to be discarded. Can’t comment on the desserts, because we had to take them to go, as it was and hour and forty-five minutes since we’d arrived and we were exhausted. We had one of those Travelzoo vouchers where you pay $ 45 for a supposed $ 100 value. But this sorry experience was not even worth even the $ 45 we paid. Not even. Steer clear of this place, even at a discount.

4 others and myself had a Mother’s Day lunch at Ocean View Bar & Grill. We chose OVB&G because it is very dog friendly and there was a deal offered on travelzoo. The voucher says it is not valid on holidays but after calling ahead we were told it would be ok to use it then. Our service was lagging. It took around 20 minutes to receive our beverages while the restaurant was not very busy. Overall the food was pretty good overall aside from my moms eggs not being cooked as requested and my chicken was overcooked. This is a nice place to eat at if you have a dog with you. The restaurant could use another umbrella outside especially if the service is as slow as our experience. 3.5 stars.

We decided to try out the restaurant with family on a Saturday night while staying at the hotel. We sat outside and did not even get acknowledged. We finally ventured in to place a drink order, which was eventually messed up(even tho simple). One drink was overly watery, the next, a cosmo, was like drinking drano, and the next just ok. Of course there was no follow up to see if we wanted to order food and I had to go in to ask for a menu and service. They were out of 2 things we attempted to order. Once they told us they could not accommodate deluxe grilled cheese dippers it was apparent everything comes to them pre made and in a box. Ugh! Their prices are far too expensive for that! I ordered pork sliders — when they came it was apparent they likely get it from Costco, possibly even bagged that they simply heat up! Really? For $ 12? The only one slightly satisfied in our party was one who ordered fish tacos. My suggestion — not worth the time or money — skip it and serve yourself… go to Costco because that’s what you’re being served!

When nature calls it calls loud and clear! That was pretty much the reason for having an impromptu lunch here. I was walking along the 2 mile stretch between torrey pines beach and downtown del mar and Hotel Indigo was the only place around with public facilities. Ocean View Bar and Grill is essentially just a hotel bar/lounge but it reminds me of how lucky I am to live in SD. The ocean view(see photo) is pretty basic, but being only a few steps from the coast, youre close enough to feel like youre on vacation. The warmth of the sun coupled with the cool coastal breeze – thats my happy place. The inviting patio makes you wanna sprawl out on the furniture and read a book. The waiter/bartender/host was awesome, he had that genuine friendliness where it was easy to talk to him. I was absolutely blown away by their Fish Tacos. Better than Rubios and every reputable hole in the wall mexican joint ive been to in Cali. Fish is fresh ahi tuna, perfectly cooked in beer batter. Not too greasy. Fresh ingredients and flavorful aioli sauce thats not too mayonaissy and overwhelming that it overpowers the fish. If you dont like spicy i recommend getting it to the side to be safe. $ 13 is pricey but its worth it considering the ambiance and exceptional service. If I lived or worked in the area Id frequent this place. Good alternative to a café to lounge and read a book. ADDLTIPS — the bar high tables have outlets — Dog friendly!!! Lots of water bowls outside — no corkage fee — Located inside the small chic Hotel Indigo, right across the check-in desk — live music on sat nights — free parking — fire pits outside

The menu is awesome. I’m a local and like to pop in for a drink or snack after work and wait out the traffic. The cocktails are fun, they have about a dozen bottled beers, hard cider and various wines. Their shrimp tacos and fish tacos are my favorite. The sliders are tasty too! Cute fire pits outside where you can watch the sun set. It’s a little quiet, but hopefully things pick up for them. It’s very cute and modern.
