We take pride in our hand-​crafted classic pub-​style food. We make our food from scratch and place great emphasis on the quality of our product. We also serve local San Diego craft beer and hand-​crafted cocktails. We have multiple TV’s so that you can catch all your favorite sporting events!

History

Established in 2014.

The owners of La Jolla Brewing Co. and Saddlebar Tavern came together to open this food-​centric sports bar in the heart of Solana Beach. Pillbox tavern is location right near Fletcher Cove, which was also locally known as Pillbox because of its history as a WWII Gunnery installation.

Meet the Business Owner

Leigh G.

Business Owner

Leigh has over 20 years of professional and operational experience in the nightclub, restaurant and bar industry, as well as in design, licensing, permitting and construction supervision. Most recently, Leigh was a key member of the opening team for The La Jolla Brewing Company and The Commons in downtown San Diego, ensuring proper execution of business operations. Leigh is also responsible for creating the Dirty Birds restaurant business model and concept, and remains responsible for its success as owner and operator. Dirty Birds — Pacific Beach was recently recognized with the distinction of «Top 10 Wings in America» by Yahoo Sports. Leigh has also successfully co-​managed the following San Diego venues: Onyx Room, Martini Ranch, Thin Room, Side Bar, Ciros Pizzeria, On Broadway Event Center and Red Circle Café. Leigh began his career in the hospitality industry in New York as a local club promoter. He eventually moved to Charleston, South Carolina in 1994 where he worked as a bartend
