Best Western Stratford

Got to the Best Western around 12:30am to find the systems down. Apparently this best western has never had their system down and the guy behind the front desk had no clue how to check us in.
After about 45 minutes he finally managed to get us a key to a room. We had a weeks worth of luggage and a dog that we managed to drag to our room finally around 1:45. When we got to the room, I could hear someone talking in there (thank goodness they were still awake and i didn’t just barge in). I knocked on the door and let them know we got a key to their room from the front desk! We had to pack up our stuff once again and marched down to the front office where he upgraded us to a «suite». We finally got into our room around 2am. The suites are ridiculously small — could touch the bed from the front door.
The next day we went to the office because the guy at the front desk said the manager would be in and that only they had power to accommodate us. He tried to charge us for a night of hell until I started mentioning that I could have been hurt had i just walked in.
Left to the doubletree hotel and got treated MUCH better in comparison to the best western. Also, the doubletree had MUCH larger rooms for the price and a fully trained staff.

We stayed at the Stratford Inn for 4 nights last week and I want to go back right now and never leave. We had one of their newly renovated rooms with an ocean view and it was GORGEOUS. There are two pools, a jacuzzi, and a free breakfast each morning. Everyone at the front desk was helpful and friendly, no matter the hour or the request. I can’t even imagine how great the hotel will be once all the renovations are complete.
The best part about this hotel is the location. Right on Camino Del Mar, with easy access to the 5, so almost anywhere in the San Diego area from downtown to North County are very easy to access.

I would not stay here again. Since this place is so closed to the beach I always wanted to stay here and the view is amazing but talking about cleanliness, I definitely expected more… I found a bath towel and the comforter with stains like they didn’t wash them before and I hate the smell in the room. My experience was awful

Um, I love you Best Western.
This place? Effing phenomenal for a Best Western. No it doesn’t have a bath tub, and no, the cheap rooms don’t have mini bars… but for $ 79 a night, this was one of the most comfortable motel stays I’ve ever had.
Us Northern Californians were down in Del Mar for a wedding and stayed at this place for 3 nights. When we checked in, they told us our reservation from
was more expensive, and gave us a room with two beds (so my friend and I didn’t have to share a bed) $ 20 cheaper a night. Word! They let me use the computer behind the desk to look up information on the San Diego Zoo.
Did I mention that the place is a block from the beach? And that the pool and hot tub over look it?
The bed was SO comfortable, I actually imagined myself stealing it and replacing it with mine in Alameda… a few hundred miles away. The pillows were PERFECT.
Continental breakfast? Not amazing. But there was a toaster, wheat bread and fresh juice. All good.
I will definitely stay here the next time I come visit Del Mar.
