The best home improvement decision we ever made was to hire South Coast Shutter and Shades. We intended to purchase wooden window blinds for our house which required 32 blind replacements. When I called for the estimate, Donna arrived within a day (9−1−15) at the scheduled appointment time. She took prelimianry measurements, explained her company, showed us sample products, and provided a written estimate on the spot. Once we signed the contract, (9−4−15) Donna returned with her husband, Tom, who took the measurements again. We signed the contract and were told the blinds would be ready in 2 to 4 weeks. They arrived in 2 weeks. Tom and his emplyoyee installed the blinds today, 9−18−15. They were friendly, efficient, and very professional. They wiped off the window sills after removing the old blinds, vacuumed where «scraps» fell on the floor and were in and out in about 4 hours. The cost was excellent and the blinds have a lifetime guarantee!!! This was a completely stress-​free, very, very pleasant experience and my house looks wonderful!!!

What a fantastic experience from beginning to end! I had several designers with ideas and products but Donna’s design ideas and products were by far the best! We chose woven blinds and after seeing several other companies samples, I found the overall material quality of South Coast Blinds were the best! The measuring process was simple and delivery was timely and installation was perfect! We asked for a different color pull weight which they accommodated happily and easily. We loved them so much, we had several additional woven shades ordered and installed upstairs! I would have no hesitation referring our closest friends to this company and already have and we will be using them a third time when we begin second phase upgrades to our home next year! Truly THE BEST business I have utilized for my home in years! Every aspect of my experience with South Coast Shutters and Shades was impeccable! Donna, who is the owner/​sales rep/​mgr., came to our home and spent so much time helping us pick the perfect window coverings for our home. It was like having a friend in my home –so knowledgeable, so kind, and no high pressure sales. After she came to our home, I also got bids from competitors (including 3 day blinds) –for some reason I was under impression 3 day had better pricing before I had them out to the house –3 day prices were higher than everyone I interviewed ! So based on my experience with several blind/​shade companies coming out to my home, I decided to make my purchase at South Coast, based on pricing, product, sales rep knowledge and follow-​thru, and a general feeling of trustworthiness. Couldn’t imagine experience being improved upon, but it was, during the installation. Tom, owner/​long time installer, did a superb job. I didn’t realize how important having an experienced installer is in this process. Due to stone insert in my kitchen window, I was told by other companies that either have to make blind a bit larger to go over «stone lip» or a bit smaller causing some light to sneak into window. Donna assured me Tom could «do anything» to make it perfect during install and boy was she right ! Our install is perfect, blinds/​shades are absolutely gorgeous and create a sense of peacefulness and serenity throughout our home. Everyone who comes to our home comments, unsolicited, on how much they love the look in our home since window coverings were installed.
I Have told everyone I know about South Coast Shutters and Shades and my incredible experience –it’s like doing business with friends. To top it off –they picked up the phone right away every time I called and if they weren’t able to pick up they called me back immediately! Donna and Tom are the best! I got solar shades for all my windows for my mobile home. Donna came and took measurements and Tom came a few weeks later and installed. The shades are just what I wanted! Donna really helped me pick the most appropriate color and type, depending on my wall color and sun situation. The price was fair, considering none of my windows are usual sizes. I am a repeat customer. And I don’t go back if I’m not happy the first time.

I was told by my contractor that there are two things that you will always want more of once you install some in your home: roman blinds and french shutters. We have both throughout the house, but found this to be so true! The windows that were left bare in our house needed some blinds and we were trying to decide between the two aforementioned and decided to go with the shutters just because I find them so much more convenient and great at blocking and re-​directing sunlight. I got estimates from South Coast Shutter as well as another company, but decided to go with South Coast Shutter because their price was 30% cheaper than the other company, and upon meeting Donna, I was very confident and comfortable that their shutter quality was on par, if not better, than the competitor’s. The other company was not 100% sure they could match the color of our existing shutters and gave me swatches of the wood they have in stock, and told me which one was the «best match.» South Coast Shutter not only custom makes their shutters, but they also have them hand-​painted so that they can match any color exactly! I was also very impressed with how thorough Donna was, and she went through and examined all our existing shutters’ beadwork to make sure the ones we were ordering would match them identically.
Estimated lead time was 4 – 6 weeks, which is standard and the same quoted by the competitor, and since they’ve been very busy, my shutters took closer to 6 weeks to be installed. Donna called me to schedule the installation appointment and told me it would take about an hour for the job. The installers arrived on time, were very friendly and professional, and completed the job efficiently and made sure I was satisfied with the way they turned out. I love my new shutters and am so happy with the results!
I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for new shutters and shades to call this company. The customer service is amazing and the quality and price is unbeatable!

We made an appointment for Donna to come out to measure for several window shades and a shuttered window. She was prompt and very professional. There was no sales push on her part and we were very comfortable discussing our window needs, designs, likes and dislikes, etc.

It is a pleasure to write a review of South Coast Shutter and Shades. Donna and Tom (husband and wife) are the owners and the ones doing the work. I replaced all the window coverings in my home with solar shades after 20 years of mini blinds. I received 7 or 8 bids with a wide range of costs for basically the same product. In addition to to being on the lower side of this range, I liked their Unilocal reviews and their service oriented approach. They brought us various samples of opacity and helped us decide on the correct percentage for each room. Donna measured all windows for the estimate and Tom remeasured when we placed the order just to be sure there were no mistakes. It was a big job but the shades were ready on time and Tom installed them professionally. Our home was built in the late 70s with mitered corner windows, a particularly hard configuration, but Tom did a great job of getting them to look good and work. In addition many of our windows turned out not to be perfectly strait, but Tom made adjustments so the shades would hang well. He has bent over backwards to be sure we were happy. Lastly, we ordered shades for our bathroom at the same time, but a delayed remodel meant Tom couldn’t install those windows yet, so he he has graciously agreed to return when the bathroom work is completed. All in all this was a painless process with great results, and we enjoyed working with these lovely people. Don’t hesitate to use them. You won””t be sorry.

Several years ago I wanted to install shutters in our second home in the desert. I contact one of the better known and respected local companies and asked for a free estimate. I didn’t have any comparison and not knowing if this estimate was in the ballpark, I contacted South Coast Shutters for a second opinion and boy was I glad I did. SCS estimate was nearly 50% less with the same high quality and standards. I was very happy with their staff and the their professionalism. Every step of the way was A-​One rated.
So when we decided to install shutters in our Long Beach home I didn’t hesitate to call SCS. They are simply the best and most customer service driven team that inspire to excellence in all that they do. Nice people too!

I had just finished expanding my wine shop/​tasting room, DaVine Food & Wine, located in the Dana Point Harbor. We have 4 windows facing the afternoon/​early evening sun that desperately needed to be covered in order to keep our customers from having to deal with the direct sunlight, while they were relaxing and enjoying their wine tasting at DaVine. The Memorial Day Weekend was upon us and I called Donna on Monday afternoon after one of her local competitors had told me «he simply did not have time to come out and measure, as he had just gotten back from vacation and had fallen behind»!
I explained the situation and my needs to Donna and she proceeded to tell me she would meet me at DaVine in an hour to measure the windows. She also told me she «loved her little wine shop in the harbor and had to take care of it». How refreshing! She promptly came to DaVine, measured and gave me a fair estimate on roller shades, which many retail shops and restaurants use on their windows. She immediately called in the order to the vendor (Hunter Douglas) and when they told her it would be a week before delivery, she made a few phone calls and assured me– she would do everything possible to get the blinds to me and installed by Friday of that week, before our busy weekend ahead.
I received a call from Donna that Wednesday afternoon, notifying me– my blinds were in and asked if I would like them installed the next day (a day early). Wow! Now that’s customer service! Thank you Donna, for such great service and quick response! I love my blinds and highly recommend Donna and South Coast Shutters.

Tom & Donna were GREAT! We ordered custom shades for our bathroom & office and they came out absolutely beautiful. Their services were thorough and quick… and their prices were extremely competitive. I had a bad experience with another shutter company, so I was SO happy with the outcome of South Coast Shutter and Shades!
