Norma C. Salceda, MD, F.A.C.O.G.

I’m questioning Norma Salcedas credentials. my wife and I had the worst experience when delivering our first son. In a nut shell (not to take much of your time), my wife and I were in the delivery room getting ready to deliver our first son when suddenly the babies heart stopped so we had to do an emergency c-​section and Norma panicked and froze… she literally did not know what to do… the nurse screamed at her and made her snap out of it. It turned out ok but it could have been a lot worse. Needless to say, never again Salceda.

This is the worst clinic anyone can come to. I don’t even know where to begin from bad service, to no privacy, long waits, and trying to get an appointment is a disaster.

Con artist! I’ve been getting bills for my time with this «doctor.» She clearly must think I’m stupid and won’t notice the spelling of my last name wrong and will gladly pay 600. No ma’am. Called her billing office. They too must think I’m dumb. After the 3 time getting an incorrect bill, they finally changed it, but guess what!?? They just resent me a bill with a correct name. They didn’t bother resubmitting to the insurance and are claiming I wasn’t covered. Bull! Let’s just say instead of a check for 600, they will continue to receive my Certificate of Credible Insurance from my insurance company till they decide to re-​bill Health Net. She was unfortunately the closest OB/​GYN on my crappy covered California insurance. So I switched that and doctors, and just in time before the open enrollment closed. Praise the lord!
Met her on my last visit (after 3 prior visits) and she didn’t seem happy, almost insulted that I was leaving her practice. She needs to wake up and realize she’s not professional. Office staff was rude and obviously racist. I never got a smile out of them, and they had looks on their faces like I smelled like poop every visit. I asked for my medical records a month before my switch to another OB was to take place. They didn’t have my papers ready so let’s just say I barked at them till they did it right then and there. I had the paper signed by them and everything stating the date the need to be ready. Obviously dates don’t mean anything to them. Her assistant, I don’t recall her name, was sweet. I’m actually confused what she’s doing there. She’s better off elsewhere.
Any woman who values themselves and the health of their unborn child, avoid here! Save yourself and your little one! Save yourself from the inevitable stress of bills. One time I called and the girl said they are still trying to get payments from 5 years ago. Maybe if y’all stopped being con artists and trying to steal and cheat from innocent people, you’d get your money.

I honestly wish I would of Unilocal Salceda before I went to her. Worst decision ever !!! I had a very complicated pregnancy. As soon as I found Out I was pregnant I made an appointment with this «doctor». When I first arrived I told the nurse I wanted an ultrasound and she told me they don’t do ultrasounds there. Only 3D and each ultrasound was $ 90 dollars. She then told me I would have to go somewhere else for it. Then I was asking some questions about some of the paperwork they had me sign and she nor another co worker of hers knew what that document said. Imagine filling out paper work during your first pregnancy. I was asking questions because I wasn’t sure about certain things and they couldn’t even answer them for me. I didn’t meet Salceda till the last 3 appointments I had with her, she was NEVER there or I would be rescheduled. When I did meet her she was very rude, blunt, and didn’t even check my baby’s heart beat. The other doctor who’s there, I believe her name is Sheila is friendly and helpful and answered all questions that I had. She was there for my pregnancy more then the other so called Doctor. She would check my baby’s heartbeat all the time, she referred me to specialists. I had my last 2 appointments with Salceda back in October 2015, she finally checked for my babys heartbeat and told me to go to urgent care because she couldn’t detect a heart beat. I ended up going to urgent care that same day and at first they said everything was fine and I even heard my babys heartbeat on the monitor. Then they did an ultrasound and told me it was a fetal demise. That they had given me the wrong information. I go the next day to salcedas office and they have me waiting for 4 hours and all I needed to get done was blood work. I was so angry at that point and then the nurse from the front tells me that I have to go somewhere else !!! Wtf was I doing waiting for 4 hours that day if at the end I would have to go somewhere else for the blood work. Which would mean more waiting time !!! I go get checked up at a clinic in long beach and the nurse there performs an ultrasound and to my fucken surprise she tells me that there was a heartbeat ALL ALONG !!! I had spoken to Salcedas nurses on the phone that same day and asked about some tests they needed to approve on for my baby. They told me it was still in progress and that they hadn’t heard back from my insurance. I call my insurance right away and they tell me NOTHING was ever filed. That there’s nothing pending!!! I try calling back salcedas office and no one answers !!! To top that off Salceda herself told me, Infront of my sister that she «didn’t want to be responsible for me «when I asked for a second opinion. One of her nurses was present at that time as well!!! Please, to all the future mothers out there, do not, DO NOT go here. You might think because it’s culver city they would have better service but they don’t. At all.

I had the worst experience in this office. The young lady who is the doctor’s helper is very professional and sweet though.

Time to find a new Gyno :-/​I show up on time for my 4:30 appointment and still sitting in the waiting room to be seen.

If I can give negative stars on this doctors office, I would. I went to her in 2013 because she was on my insurance. I had to go to Chinatown for my procedure which was rediculous but again my insurance. I stopped going to her because she was demeaning, would not explain anything and she made me feel stupid because I had questions. I stopped going there in 2013 and was just going to leave it be until today. I got a bill for $ 250 after two and a half years that I am sure is paid but now have to prove it before it goes to collections. Do not trust this doctor or her billing department!

EXTREMELY rude, unprofessional, unkind person. She literally screamed at me «YOU HAVE CANCER!!» and «Talk to (name of a nurse) and make an appointment with the oncologist!»… What a way to tell a patient she/​he has cancer. Turns out, I do NOT have any cancer. She must have read my lab results wrong or something. She should not be practicing medicine nor telling patients who do not have cancer, they have cancer.
I’ve been seen by her 5 or 6 times in the last year and every time was a very unpleasant experience. She must have become a doctor for wrong reasons. She obviously does not want to help her patients or care about them. I hope she retires soon so that no other patients have to go through what I’ve been through with her. Most of her staffs are rude on the phone and rude in person as well. I strongly suggest you should stay away as far as you possibly can from this clinic.

I don’t even give many reviews good or bad but health is important to me. I saw doctor Salceda for the first time in 2012 for an abnormal pap. Office always busy long waits for appointments Laura at the front desk rude, doesn’t speak to patients when they walk in the door have never seen her friendly ever.
The walls are so thin you can hear everything going on damn near like being behind those curtains in the waiting room no privacy what so ever. The nurse practitioner is nice but she needs to be at a different locations she works as fast and hard as she can but the nurses get confused they put people ahead of you that weren’t there. It’s just a horrible office and Dr Salceda herself is never there.
Last week was my last time going, now that I don’t have HMO I have upgraded to the cedar Sinai towers for all my health issues. Hope this helps

Nobody greeted me. I stood at the front desk unacknowledged. Three women were behind the desk, the least you could say is ill be right with you. After leaving them no option but to help me they directed me to a room down the hall to wait in. I walked in behind a dirty curtain about 30 people day waiting. I walked back to the front desk and asked how long of a wait. They said not long. I said how long is not long? She then actually checked and realized it would be over an hour. Which she didn’t plan on telling me. I told the woman that first off I’d recipe s greeting your customers when they walk in the door and secondly if someone makes an appointment for a certain time and there will be an hour or longer wait id advise letting your customers know. Not only this but the office is dirty with paperwork everywhere. It is overall sketchy and unprofessional. Don’t go here.

This place looks like a little shack first off. The front desk staff, mainly Laura, is rude. Never saw Dr. Salceda. The PA did the exam. The front desk staff seems confused because they insist you’ve been seen at the other clinic but they never really check. I did a formal complaint on Laura with Dr. Salceda and she returns the call sounding defensive and calling other departments lazy. If a physicians is defending her staff and calling other departments lazy, then this alerts me to switch clinics.

Absolute nightmare! They make you sign mediation consent or no appointment! That is illegal! Then, when you demand a proper conduct she refuses to see patients! My test results were not reviewed for nearly a month, thank God there are other doctors
Stay away!

Let me preface by saying this was the oddest and worst doctors experience of my life.
This place is one of the few options I have on my HMO. My LAST resort as my control was ending. I made an appointment to get my yearly check up and get my birth control shot. Even with the appointment it took me 3.5 hours to get out of there.
The place looks like a third world makeshift medical tent. I have never been to a place where they use curtains as dividers in the waiting room, with no AC and a fan to get some air circulation. After about a 45 min waiting one of the ladies there finally took my weight and blood pressure. She was borderline rude in her inquiry about my health history. Then I was put back in the waiting room for another 30 in order to see the PA. The PA was super nice. She tried to make the experience better but there was definitely no privacy. While waiting in the exam room naked from the waste down I can hear the entire conversation in the next room due to the paper thin walls with no ceiling. When I was finally done being examined, I was then told I had to do a mandatory blood and urine test which took another 20 mins.
I was not prepared for what was to come next. For my urine test they had me pee in a cup then walk this open cup down the hall to this little alcove where they were prepping to draw blood from another person. Yep there was me standing in front of this lady with a cup of urine while shes got her presumably sanitized arm ready to have her blood drawn. The person working there just turned around and drew some samples from the cup to the petri dish and then said okay. Okay… as in you want me to walk back and poor it down the toilet now?! Are you going to tell me if the test was positive or negative? Nope.
*At this point I know what most of you are thinking. Why didn’t i just leave. I vested so much time already. I was desperate as it was my last day on my birth control. *
Then more waiting for my turn to have my blood drawn. The lady just stabbed me with the needle and didn’t say a word. Then more waiting. PA finally comes and tells me I have to physically pick up my own shot at the pharmacy down the street and bring it back to them to administer. So I spend another 30 minutes braving traffic to pick up my depo shot from the pharmacy. Of course there is a wait there as well. Get back with my medication and of course the front desk has no idea what was going on. The PA was busy seeing other patients and didn’t show her face again. I was told to wait in the waiting room. I sat, waited, and then had enough. I told them I had to get back to work seeing as its been past three hours here. She puts me in the exam room, some helper who I’ve never seem comes in and gives me the shot and tells me to wait to see any adverse effects. How long? She says 10. I waited for 5 mines and left.
Its been two months, and I got a message from the office assuming it was my lab results. I’ve called back 4 times and each time the office is closed or the PA is not available. Terrible, terrible place.

I am a travel nurse and I am used to visiting different medical offices, seeing different doctors, etc. I picked this clinic because it was close to where I live. My first visit went well (with the PA). I requested labs, one in particular. I had to schedule an appointment to review the labs. I was there reviewing the labs with the PA and the ONE lab I actually requested had not been performed. I had to have blood drawn again. The PA is good so I didn’t really think anything of it. She was as surprised as I was. Two weeks ago, I needed to have my thyroid (TSH) checked. I called this clinic to ask the PA if that was okay-​I am from the East Coast, this clinic is close to where I am located. She gave the order for my TSH. I went in and had the blood drawn. The labs slip in front of me said «TSH.» I verbally repeated the order at least two times. I was told, «Yes, TSH is what we are running.» I called a week later for my results and TSH was not done-​they did FSH instead! I was told I could come in any time to have TSH drawn. I went in today and was told that the PA is out sick and there is no order. I also had a written order from an OB here for the labs. This clinic would not accept that order: «This is not an order from one of our doctors.» You see in my chart that an FSH was done; I am standing here telling you it was supposed to be TSH; I have written proof. How do you mess up labs this much? I don’t understand. Neither orders were written in my chart (FSH or TSH) nor were any of our conversations documented. I do like the PA and it is unfortunate she is employed at this clinic.
You would also be better off going to another OB because this facility has NO confidentiality at all. It seemed very old and run down. I can’t remember the last doctors office I had been in that used curtains as a divider in the waiting room and there seems to be no ceilings? You can hear every conversation. I could have eavesdropped on a telephone conversation today while waiting for assistance (perhaps talking on speaker phone is not a good idea). I have never met Dr. Salceda.
Again, the PA is respectful, knowledgeable and the only reason why I even gave this clinic a second chance.

it’s been awhile since i went this clinic but I wanted to share my experience.
this place was the only available clinic that i could go right away at that time. so, I had no choice.
their walls are super thin and you can hear every details from a next exam room.
on my first visit, I was expecting to see Dr. Salceda but she wasn’t there and her assistant checked on me. (thankfully she was very nice with clear explanations)
However, she couldn’t really do much and I needed to reschedule to see Dr. Salceda. She is pretty rough and not polite when she exams.
My schedule was pretty tight at that time but they also made me come back for things they could be done on the same visit.
one time they suggested me to schedule at a different location (in Korea town) where I was told that she would be there on that day BUT she wasn’t!
Finally they billed me a year later!
Never go back and such a terrible clinic !!

I Give One Star! (Although I Shouldn’t) Stay Away From Her Office. The ONLY Good Thing I Can say is the Physicians Assistant Sheila was Great as were a couple of the Assistants, But «Dr.» Salcedo… Rude (When you DO See her & Incompetent, it’s not necessarily about needing a Doctor whose a «Teddy Bear» But Hell, at least one who MEETS with and gets to know her Patients and Develops that Business and/​or Personal Relationship Especially if said «Doctor» is delivering your Child. And a Doctor whose empathetic, and Listens to their Patient. The Most INCOMPETENT Doctor there is … My Fiancée & I did NOT see her AT ALL, there were Rescheduled Appts (Some we were NEVER notified of until we drove there and showed up) we dropped her at 4 mos into Our Pregnancy. We found a Great Doctor and were able to have Our Insurance Transfer Us to Cedar Sinai (Which has a GREAT Maternity Unit & Staff!) We had a Healthy, Beautiful Son. Furthermore, we have contacted the State Medical Board reference her Behavior (Or lack thereof) I’ve seen Better Treatment in 3^rd World Countries. Stay Away!
For those Wishing to seek a More Competent OBGyn
Dr. Praveen Gupta is GREAT! She ALWAYS made time for Us via Phone and Appts. And was at the Hospital Right Away. Her Staff is Spectacular
Her Office is Located on Venice Blvd. Culver City.

The office is disorganized, the staff is rude and unwelcoming, and the entire clinic looks dirty.
My review is not based on Dr. Salceda’s medical competencies. In my time of being at her office, I’ve met her 0 times. I’ve been seen by the physician’s assistant. I was never told of her qualifications and often rushed through the appointment.
The staff plays this game where they avoid eye contact with you when you try to ask them a question. I felt like a bother every time I came up to ask a question.
One time, after waiting for an hour, I went to the front to ask how much longer it would be — the front had completely forgotten about my appointment. One of the women said, «Have you checked in yet?»
Another time, I was getting my blood drawn and a bit of blood got onto the assistant’s glove, I informed her of the blood but instead of changing gloves she wipes off my blood with a cotton ball and then reaches in a jar with more cotton balls (that I assume will be used on future patients). I was really taken aback she didn’t change the glove.
Truthfully, I am surprised people like this exist in the medical/​service industry. It has been such an unpleasant experience here. Every time I left, I left feeling more confused then when I came in.

I feel horrible writing this review but I honestly believe a business will not change unless they are aware of the customer’s complaints.
My partner came to DR. Salceda’s office because her primary physician does not perform OB/​GYN services. Her appointment was at 9:45 and she was not taken back into a room until 11:00 and I honestly believe the only reason they took her was because I asked how much longer it would be.
It is great that DR Salceda’s business is booming however, if she cannot handle the demands, she needs to be fair to her patients and either bring on another physician OR schedule accordingly so patients are not waiting an hour passed their appointment to be seen.
On a side note, rooms are separated by a thin wall and a curtain as a door. I’m sure the patient being seen next door would be devastated if she knew everyone could hear her medical history which included a run-​in with chlamydia.
I am frustrated with this visit and concerned with our privacy. I will ensure we never come back here… until changes are made.
I am a huge supporter of small business owners, especially when they are women driven.

This clinic is horrible! Should have more than one obgyn doctor. Wish they would of never changed my wife’s doctor.

I’m a Sagittarius and as you know, Sags never lie. You can tell all my reviews are never gimmicky, just straight up real. Here is my honest review of Dr Salceda.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Dr Salceda when I did some research work early this year. I am no longer in that field so I have nothing to gain from this review FYI. Salceda was, out of all the other 40+ OB-​Gs I contacted, one of the three doctors that was compassionate enough to actively help with our research.
Dr Salceda is not like the usual SoCal doctor that likes to coo and sweet talk patients. Her curt behavior may be misjudged but I think that’s just the kind of doctor she is. Her staff can be curt as well, but not all. The curly haired nurse is pretty sweet, and so are a few of the staff in both her Culver and Western Ave clinics like Nancy. I’m not even a patient, so they have no reason to be super nice to me, but they were.
I don’t believe Salceda is incompetent, on the other side of the coin, I do believe people from WLA can exaggerate and tend to get pretty hysterical. A friend of mine was a patient of Salceda’s and she thinks Salceda’s cool.
Unilocal isn’t my absolute guide to everything, and I do respect everyone in the Unilocal community but when Unilocal disappoints (like when I go to a highly rated salon and the staff there verbally abuses me), it always comes down to me needing to post my version of the issue.
