Hilton Columbus Downtown

I stayed at the Hilton in Downtown Columbus for 4 days 3 nights for a conference by my employer. The Lower Level is where the meeting area was held and it was quite accommodating for various sessions /​sizes of rooms. The staff brought cold water to each table each session which was very nice.
Breakfast supplied for the conference attendees was not stunning. while it was good, it was nothing more than run of the mill pastries and yogurt.
I posted a separate review of the Gallerie Bar & Bistro located inside the hotel which I did not have a good experience with.
The Room: I thought the room I stayed in was fantastic. I was on floor 6 room 21. The only real gripe i had with the room was the shower door. There is about a quarter inch gap on each side of the door like in a public restroom stall. So water goes through and onto the floor.
The hotel is within walking distance of many great restaurants which I was happy to try also.
I would definitely stay here again.

Sweetie had eaten at the restaurant here before, and it popped to the top of the list as we searched for a staycation/​anniversary/​babymoon splurge hotel. Unilocal helped– thanks everyone, your reviews are always useful!
We parked ourselves, but it is probably worth using the valet ($ 24, instead of $ 20.) It was a hike, and there are no handy elevators in the garage.
The lobby is beautiful, check-​in was superfast, and the service in general was great start to finish. Our room was on the 7^th floor, with a view of downtown.
The room was a little small, but plenty for us. The décor was modern and comfortable. The bed was firm (perfect for us,) with cushy pillows and comforter. The bathroom was very sleek, and warm despite a tile floor.
Location is perfect– close to (and connected to) the convention center; right around the corner from the North Market; and a short walk to downtown or the Short North. Plenty of great restaurants and shops nearby. I would highly recommend it to anyone coming into town for business or otherwise needing to be downtown.
Some negatives: our room, on the south end, was far from the elevators. Seriously, another bank would have been nice. Plus, there were train tracks directly beneath our window. Not super loud or frequent, but the trains were occasionally intrusive. There was lots of noise from the hall. And the shower took forever to get hot.
Still, it was a great experience. Price was very reasonable for the quality. I would recommend it (though hey, I live here, so I might not have much reason to stay here again…)

I’ve stayed here twice, both times the experience was fine. If you can get a room below $ 150 it’s in a very convenient spot. Ok pillows, a little flat. Mattress also OK… I would not want to stay more than three nights on it though, my back was aching for home by the time I left. Typical for a hotel like Holiday Inn but your expect a notch up in comfort here.
My issues are mostly around the HVAC and staff.
My room was freezing when I arrived, although the thermostat said 65-​ish. I cranked it up to the max of 75 and I swear the system was blowing cool air. I am a cold climate person and enjoy cooler temperatures but even this was a bit much. The second day I return to my room and find housekeeping had shut it off completely. Cold again.
The bathroom was ok. Flawed shower design which caused some leakage on the ground and either low pressure or a low-​flow shower head made me wish for a little extra force in the mornings.
The restaurant in the hotel was very forgettable for breakfast. Nothing I’d eat again. I will recommend the Italian restaurant on the corner from the Hilton, Martini, which has better cocktails and incomparable food.
All in all an ok hotel experience. I think I got a funky room and some zealous housekeeping staff. Next time I may try the Hyatt across the street.

Just checked in to our «suite» with my 8 month old son at the Columbus Hilton, which has a view of… The hallway, transparent curtains that everyone can see into our room. My wife cannot even nurse without people leering into our room!
I paid extra for a suite and this is what you get?! No one, absolutely no one, mentioned that our window would be into a public space! I was told we cannot move to another room, after pleading with 2 Hilton employees.

This is the most amazing hotel experience I have had yet in my life, who knew I would find it in my favorite city Columbus Ohio? I will absolutely come here again.
Highlights:
–staff: here for a work offsite so using conference facilities. Extremely responsive staff across the board. Really friendly front desk. Very professional restaurant crew.
–ambiance: common areas are clean and very cool. Neat open second floor restaurant and bar area. Hotel rooms are updated and uniquely decorated. Small but well used space. View of parking lot in my room but you can’t have everything:)
–food: OH THE FOOD!!! I am so incredibly impressed with the food I have had here. Everything has been amazing from restaurants and from conference facilities. I don’t know how this wasn’t first. I haven’t eaten this well over a 24-​hour period, potentially my entire life!
Doesn’t look like much on the outside and the ridiculous parking price ($ 24 a day I think) makes me sad. Also some hotel rooms have inward view of lobby and I am sad for anyone in those rooms.
Overall HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for your next trip to Columbus, conference, wedding, party, Etc.

For the cost, this is a difficult place to stay. For one, you have to pay extra for parking, whether it’s valet or the ten minute hike to the garage that’s not but ten feet away. The other, for such a fancy place, the thermostats only go down to 68 or up to 75. HUH??? All the doors open out into the atrium inside, and we could hear a bunch of jocks screaming at some party down there all the way from the tenth floor. The curtains are translucent and some of them face the inside. … and only one set of towels? The shower… felt like being peed on. Where’s the water pressure? Yeah, the place is fancy, but they get too many of the little things wrong.

One of the nicest Hilton’s we’ve ever stayed at. Beautifully renovated and modern chic. The only small complaint was the musty smell of the rooms which comes from the air conditioner. It disappears after the AC runs for a while. Other than that great place!

I was here for a conference. Location was excellent.
I liked hanging out at the bar area, above the ground floor.
The room was what I expected. There was free Wi-​Fi, although that may have been through the conference I was attending.
If I was back in town, I would stay here.

Solid in every respect.
First of all, it has a fabulous location. It’s literally across the street from the Convention Center and in case of rain or snow, you can use the skywalk off the hotel’s second floor. You are a five minute walk to the wonderful North Market, and within a ten minute radius there must be 25 restaurants and saloons. The area is safe with a lot of people out on the street, but I did see a few vagrants and panhandlers out there.
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous– everything from the lobby, to the center atrium to the sweet Gallerie Bar and Bistro on the second floor accessed via a majestic spiral staircase. On the first floor, there is artwork all over the walls on the way to the conference rooms.
My room on the tenth floor was spacious. Comfy bed, great work station, fast wifi, and a big bathroom with a glass shower and plenty of water pressure and temperature.
The room had a few cool features, like a big hand painted mural on the ceiling, a nice radio alarm clock with an iPod jack, a Cuisinart coffee maker that makes two cups at the same time, and nicely marked light switches for the desk area, window area, and headboards. There is a full length seating area by the windows and the seats have built in storage areas to give you a few extra dresser drawers. Lots of nice touches everywhere.
I attended a private reception in the Robert King Suite (a first floor conference room) it went very well with a cool bartender and great catered food.
I’d definitely stay here again.

Just stayed here for 3 nights. Very nice hotel. Clean. Quiet. & close to good restaurants. Rooms are kinda small, & pillows were awful! (I hate down pillows) but if you like that kind of thing, then you’re good. Mark at the bar is fantastic. & if you are there you have to try the bourbon infused with peaches & pecans. Sounds weird but it’s seriously so good! & I don’t drink bourbon! I would for sure stay here again. The food at the restaurant sounded gross so I never ate there. Martini modern Italian next door is a must & also the north market next door is a must!

After we landed and got our rental car we made our way to find our hotel. Using my phone as navigation it led me to the hotel but could not find where to pull in to valet the vehicle. Drove around the hotel twice where there was a lot of people walking around like there was a big event going on. Finally found where you pull into to park the car. The valet guys were nice and helped get our luggage out from the trunk.
As we walk in I was amazed how nice the lobby was for it all looked brand new. I quickly noticed all the artwork hanging on the walls and the articulate furniture. I had already checked in online but still had to wait at the counter. We were given a room upgrade and made our way to the 12^th floor.
The 12^th floor is the top floor and executive level meaning you have access to a private lounge that serves free breakfast and light hot food items in the evening. Free drinks are available and only alcoholic drinks are paid for. The food lounge items were excellent and got addicted to the bacon every morning. There is a large TV, sitting areas and desktop computers to use like printing out airline boarding passes. The person working there is very nice and friendly.
Our room was a mini suite where one had a sitting area and the other a king bed. Two bathrooms but only one had a shower. There was no tub in this room. Two 50 in. TVs, mini fridge and lots of places to sit and relax. The couch was a pull out. We had an excellent view of Nationwide Arena and could see the fireworks at the Huntington Park (baseball stadium) next to it. The room has excellent lighting and comforts like the bath items. It was also very quiet at night. Our room was cleaned well and had no problems with the room. The bed was comfortable and slept well at night.
On the second floor there is a nice bar and restaurant with more art on the walls along with more computer stations and seating areas. This floor also houses the nice workout facility and indoor pool and spa. I gave it a try where the pool water was chilly and spa was hot. Towels are provided to dry off.
There is also a nice gift shop to sell items you may have forgotten or to snack on. They do sell the Buckeye candies in there. Along with the gift shop there is also a Coffee Bean also in the lobby level. There is a sign saying there is a bee hive on the roof to provide fresh honey. Below the lobby is a convention hall space for parties.
A main highlight is the location where you can walk to the convention center, sports complexes, and numerous bars and restaurants around it.
At the end we had a very enjoyable time staying here and will do it again when we return to Columbus.

This hotel looks likes like a scene out of a James Bond movie. It’s STUNNING. The architecture is mind blowing. The atrium runs right up through the middle of the hotel with beautiful views of the entire hotel. The staircases are literally works of art. Speaking of art… the hotel is full of it!
I’ve stayed in my fair share of hotels and this is easily in the top 5 as far as most beautiful. And y’all know I’m a modern girl. I like clean lines, fancy food, and a good stiff drink. Here are some reasons why I think this hotel rocks.
PROS:
— Pool
— Fitness Center
— Full service bar
— Full service restaurant THAT IS ACTUALLY LOCAL!
— Comfy beds
— The most comfortable pillows of all time (I seriously almost bought one at check-​out)
— Probably the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Everything was spotless
— TV has cable and descriptions on each channel. You’d be surprised how many hotels do not have this.
— Great location. It’s actually connected to the convention center!
— Beautiful art work
— Visually stunning to just walk around and look at.
— Great customer service.
— IT’S CHEAP! (somehow)
CONS:
— You can literally hear everything. And this is the ONLY con, but it is a big one and the only reason for the –1 star. Families and kids running rampant through the halls. The cell phone on the side table in the room next to you. The TV’s. Once I turned my TV and I worked an event until 2am I pretty much passed out, but I can’t imagine how annoying this would be if you weren’t exhausted and staying here.
Overall the most beautiful hotel in Columbus in my opinion and wayyyy underpriced for what you get. Also won the #1 hotel in the USA last year in the Hilton family of hotels. (At least that’s what the bartender told me) Would definitely return!
*Shout out to Mark at the bar for making me a killer Bloody Mary and for generally just loving his job. I adored his smile and the way he took interest in my stay. Love that.

I stay in hotels weekly and choose this one over all others in downtown Columbus.

Well, I’d have to write a several-​chapter memoir to give a complete review of this Hilton as the venue for my wedding. I will be as concise as possible.
First, If you would’ve told me that I would get married at a HOTEL CHAIN when I got engaged, I would’ve slapped your face. I decided fairly last minute (in August of 2013) to have my wedding that New Year’s Eve, provided we found a venue I didn’t hate. Which, of course, would be a challenge with such late notice. This Hilton is the reason the NYE date even worked, and so many other positive things have flowed from the decision to get married earlier than originally planned.
This Hilton feels NOTHING like a chain, Hilton or otherwise. It feels like an artistic metropolitan boutique hotel. There’s lots of local flavor in the art, and the architecture and interior design is unique and current without being overly trendy or overdone.
I wouldn’t say this metro-​contemporary aesthetic is really «my» personal vibe. I think it’s beautiful and I appreciate it, but it’s not exactly a reflection of «me.» With that said, all that went out the window when I considered the fact that my wedding would be on NEW YEAR’S EVE, in Columbus WINTER. It felt glam and polished, and I didn’t have to leave the hotel all day, and neither did my guests. I even stayed the night BEFORE the wedding here, and had my hair and makeup peeps come to me in our drop-​dead-​gorgeous-​amazing-​huge suite.
I’m going to switch to lists to save some space. Amazing things:
— BLAIRE, the event coordinator. She made this experience exciting and easy. Can’t say enough about her. She was bubbly and knowledgeable and helpful and … on and on. 10 out of 5 stars for Blaire. (Example: having cake –and other goodies like some snacks and champagne– sent up to our room after the wedding.) A billion other things, but that’s an example of her above-​and-​beyond touches.
— The suite we had the night before and day-​of. Beautiful and accommodated the 50 or so people who moved through there that day.
— Taste tests before the wedding! We were able to try and customize all of our food with the chef. We came on a separate day to try our signature drinks. Like a mini-​celebration each time.
— Location. All these appointments were easy because of the convenient location from work. And it was awesome to be downtown on NYE, duh. We said we wanted it to be like Columbus was a «guest at the wedding» — and it totally felt that way!
— Their standard chairs are actually cute. I didn’t have to rent chairs or major table linens. For those of you that have planned a wedding, you know how huge this is.
— Didn’t have to rent «conversation» furniture either. We were able to pull ottomans and armchairs from other areas of the hotel for our use.
— Service was spot-​on. Gracious, seamless, professional, helpful.
— Having our after-​party on the glass bridge over High Street. What a memory!
Some things that could’ve been a bit better, but are definitely eclipsed by all the amazing things above:
— Some trouble getting our contract right, which caused a little stress. The writing didn’t reflect our oral agreement on some of the charges, and the lawyer in me was freaking out over it. We eventually got it right, but it took a lot of prodding on my part.
— A little nickel-​and-​diming going on, but that’s old news in the event/​wedding world. I would’ve like the option to get some things charged by VOLUME and not by GUEST. Example: we wanted fun toppings and additions to a coffee bar (since the wedding ended at 1 am, and the charges per guest were outrageous. We eventually worked some of this out.
— The bar by the bridge was supposed to be open during our after-​party, but the rowdy NYE crowd (not from our wedding) caused it to close early. Some of my guests were able to talk the bartenders into giving us a case of beer though, ha!
— The ballrooms are in the basement. But! They’re pretty, customizeable, and even though they’re below the lobby, some have big windows. It seems weird at first, but we created our own little universe and it was a non-​issue.
Thanks, Hilton! A year later and we’re still getting compliments on our wedding and fabulous venue.

This hotel is in a great location, and is seriously beautiful on the inside. I didn’t even mind that the only window in my room faced the atrium and not outside. The second floor atrium is really cool — full of lots of comfortable places to sit and relax, as well as the beautiful Gallerie Bar and Bistro. There is also an indoor swimming pool on that level.
Everyone I encountered at the Hilton was extremely friendly, especially the employees at the in-​house Coffee Bean stand.
The only thing I found confounding is the questionable housekeeping of the room I was staying in. You’ll have to take my word for it when I say that I’m not one to complain about hotel room cleanliness.
For example, upon walking in to the room for the first time, it smelled bad… really bad. I figured the previous guest may have thrown away a poopy diaper or something, and the smell lingered. Well, three full days later, the smell remained, and it took my by surprise every time I entered the room. That might just be a plumbing issue.
The housekeeping was okay, but again: not to the standards you might expect from a Hilton. For instance, every time I got back to my room, the toilet seat was left up. One time, the toilet seat was left up AND the blow dryer was still plugged in, and had fallen into the sink. Neither is a big deal — but I have a weird tendency to not flip the bathroom light on sometimes, if there is enough light coming in through the hallway (peeing with the door open is an inexplicable luxury of living alone). So… I didn’t fall into the toilet, nor did I electrocute myself. But it was weird.
The complimentary water bottles in the room were nice, but were never replenished.
Here’s the thing: I cannot stand entitled, smug people who complain about weird minutiae, and I NEVER want to be like that. None of these issues were worth bringing to anyone’s attention while I was there, and I’m not even sure why I’m even bringing it up now.
I don’t know.
Finally, I did not order room service, but I thought about it. It was the first business hotel I’ve stayed in that had reasonable prices for room service.
All in all, I would definitely stay again… hopefully in a non-​poopy room.

FOOD: I’ve gone to the Hilton for a few events. The most recent was an art auction. The food selection included grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato bisque, caramelized bacon, sirloin sliders, and more. Everything was delicious! There was also a salad topped with grilled chicken and a sweet dressing. One of the best salads I have ever had.

The reason I’m a fan is because of it’s location! They are right where you want to be for anything in the area and c’mon! Right next door to the North Market? We stayed there recently for a convention in the convention center and it was nice to just walk across High Street in the walkway and not have to deal with the rain and cold that was happening at the time.
The hotel itself is beautiful and great for events like weddings etc. The front desk staff were a bit dry to me but eh, it happens. Now where they lost a star with me was our room. They never mentioned when booking about the room differences. All the rooms are supposed to be the same based upon what kind of room but they neglected to mention the atrium view rooms.
Here I am thinking we will get a room with a view of High Street or the city or something but noooooooooooo! We got a room that faced the atrium which meant that with the curtains open we could see everyone in the hotel and vice versa! No view of the outside! Unless you like that kind of thing I would make sure when booking the room to not take these.
I should’ve asked to change the room but felt I could live with it. Really didn’t like it but had emptied out my suitcase and shot over to the convention and wasn’t in the mood to repack and move until check out.
The room felt a little small to me although the bathroom itself was a nice size with a huge shower and a sink that was partially stopped up and they were a bit spartan with the supplies in there. There is also a small fridge in the room which is great for that late night slice you might bring back ;)
Self parking in the garage is $ 20 while valet is $ 24. The thing with that is valet parking is right behind the hotel while self parking means you will have to drive further into the garage and further away from the hotel.
I would return to the hotel providing I did NOT get one of those atrium rooms — ick!

This hotel was designed to be a jewel in the middle of downtown, and it shows.
The lobby is a beautiful, open space that takes advantage of natural lighting to highlight the marble, glass, and granite construction whenever possible, and naturally leads you back towards the reception desk. Rooms are nicely arranged and even the relatively small one we used was laid out to give you as much space as possible. Staff were friendly, helpful, and positive, and the coffee bar featured tasty (if basic) sandwiches at breakfast, plus an amazing pumpkin latte that actually had pumpkin blended into it!
The only slight downsides are that parking is, unsurprisingly, very expensive ($ 20 for self parking /​night, $ 30 if you use the valet), and that while the rooms have wide windows that give a great vantage point, ½ of the hotel basically just gets a view of the convention center instead of a look out at the city. Still, that really can’t be helped given the location.
I have to admit — we stayed here for a little weekend getaway because I had a bunch of Hilton points saved up. Normally this would probably be out of my price range — but if you have the money, the points, or the expense account to make it a viable option? This is where you want to stay in Downtown Columbus.

My go to hotel when I visit Columbus. It’s the newest hotel in the area. I like you are in such a central location and can walk to some top notch restaurants.
The rooms are nice and the suites are even nicer! The beds are comfortable and the linens are quality. I love the art on the ceiling… Just a nice touch. The bathrooms are a nice size. Good shower, plenty of vanity space, and nice towels.
Many amenities such as a restaurant which serves a nice breakfast. The executive lounge, hotel bar, fitness center, business center, and a coffee shop.
The service has alway been solid… valet, check in, and house keeping all have been excellent.
I would recommend this hotel!

A good choice if your visiting Columbus! Staff is very friendly and helpful, hotel is very clean with a beautiful entrance! I loved the rooms, beds and shower (although it took my knucklehead self 20 minutes to figure out how to override the energy efficient lights, duh!). Very short walk to good restaurants, bars and a fun market place behind it.
A great choice for anyone traveling for a convention as the hotel has a direct access skywalk to it. My only complaints are how expensive the convenience shop and restaurants inside the hotel are, plus paying $ 9.95 for wifi… C’mon it’s 2014, not cool Hilton!
