This place is beyond amazing! Besides having DELICIOUS food their costumer service is over the top. It’s unfortunate that cheap people feel the need to bump them down for pricing complaints, but understanding that this is a family owned business, they gotta do what they gotta do to keep things running. My husband introduced this place to me years ago and we will continue to come here and watch them grow as an outstanding business. THANKYOUMJ!!!

Talk about fusion menu items! The delectable choices for example are the Buddha Tacos(8 Tacos, two meat items of your choice, 2 eggs, cheese, Asian salad). And your choice of meats that I personally love are the sisig, marinated pork and the spicy red chili pork. To top off your culinary visit is there’s a yogurt bar. The place is in a shopping center so get your dry cleaning and oil change find while you’re at it. Avoid school days during dismissal hour as there’s a high school across the street. Be prepared for an invasion of teenagers. But by all means enjoy the weather at their out door seating or just be a hermit and watch their numerous 36″-42″ flat screens.

I think I may have found my new favorite fries in San Diego. Everything about this place was on point! From the fries, to the burritos, to the macaron ice cream sandwiches… it was all bomb! The guys working there that night were awesome too and super, super helpful especially since this was our first time there. They gave us their own suggestions and recommendations and explained a lot of the stuff on the menu to us. We ended up getting the Buddha fries with Longanisa and apple and pear marinated beef, as well as the 671 burrito, Taro/White chocolate yogurt smoothie and a couple macaron ice cream sandwiches. I definitely liked the fries better than the burrito, but I liked how the burrito had lumpia in it — that was definitely something I’ve never had before! You know the fries are good when you run out of fries before you run out of meat.hehe. But oh my god, the longanisa was SOBOMB. I wish they were closer so I could get longanisa fries more often D: The macaron ice cream sandwiches also tasted exactly like the flavors they’re supposed to taste like. I really enjoyed the smores, but the almond joy was good as well. And did I mention they’re HUGE?! Seriously, they’re like mutant siamese twins. I struggled to take a bite out of each one. Overall, the only downside I would say to this place is that everything is kinda pricey… They also have promos going on if you follow them on social media so we were able to get 2 macaron ice cream sandwiches and 1 free since we bought two, so be sure to check!

Here are the facts… –They’re the only Asian, Mexican, and Islander fusion restaurant in Bonita and Chula Vista. –They have yogurt in their name, but known for their Longanisa Fries. –Most of my Unilocal friends that have reviewed this place gave them at least 4 stars. –My cousins from the bay area always make a stop here when they’re in town –If my daughter wrote reviews, she’d give them 10 stars. Here’s the MCO aka Mel C’s Opinion… –One thing that MJ’s is all about is service. Excellent service at MJ’s. –My favorite is their Buddha Rice Bowl with extra meat. I don’t know what they put in their red rice, but it’s phenomenal. –The Longanisa Fries is overhyped. They’re good, but I’ve had better. I’ll stick to their rice bowls. –The food is way too salty and pricey. Two meals will set you back about $ 25. The cost for extra meat is $ 2.99 and you’ll need it since they skimp on the protein. Here’s a tip… BYOL(ie Bring Your Own Longanisa). I know that I am the minority when it comes to MJ’s famous Longanisa Fries. I may not be a fan of their Longanisa Fries, but I am a fan of MJ’s. Their rice bowls and service got me hooked. 2016 Unilocal Review #2

I got the 805 south burrito and it was pretty bomb(deliciousness!). It was really good because of the longaniza(sweet hotdog) along with the option to add hot sauce(sounds weird, I know, you just have to try it, surprisingly good especially for a picky eater like myself), the fries give it a crisp texture and it comes with 2 pieces of lumpia! In a wrap! The serving size is quite large for a wrap. It’s Filipino cuisine dishes is unique and is sure to delight finical epicureans.

One word, OVERPRICED. Came in looking for breakfast, ended up paying $ 35 for 2 burritos and a breakfast plate. Had no idea the island platter was $ 14 alone. No price listed. Burritos ended up being $.60 more each than what was advertised on board in addition to another $ 0.65 for cajun fries which they asked if we wanted in the burrito vs. regular fries(each burrito over $ 8.50), no mention of extra cost. All of which which tax was charged on top of all the additional charges. When we asked about the extra charges, owner said prices are seasonal. That should be noted on the menu. Red flag!!! Now what does it come down to? Is it worth it? No! While the flavor of the food was good, the portions/ratio of the food was horrible! The island platter is at MOST a $ 10 breakfast plate. Two eggs, two pancakes, two pieces of bacon, a sausage, a small scoop of of «red“rice and an OUNCE of pork sisig. While I don’t like to downplay small business, coming from a small food business background, I just feel like I got ripped a new hole. We serve the same platter at my family’s café minus the rice and sisig with a heaping amount of in-house made obrien potatoes for $ 8. $ 14 is what you pay for a steak & eggs breakfast! $ 6 for a small scoop of rice and an ounce of pork. Sigh. As for the burritos, again flavor was good. Just overpriced for the amount of rice/ratio of ingredients your eating. Burrito is a $ 7 burrito not $ 8.50. Summary: If you’re the type that doesn’t mind paying an arm and a leg for something different this place is for you! Otherwise just pass. Nothing was epic enough for the price paid. Still kicking myself!!!

Ehh… super overrated and confusing. The macaroon ice cream sandwiches are phenomenal and so are the lumpia, but I guess both of those things are prepared off premises by a 3rd party. Annoying part is you can’t just order something and be done with it. It turns into a whole project; do you want it with or without or bla bla bla… I don’t know dude, just make it delicious and I’ll pay for it. Came out expensive, small, and not worth the hassle. Worth the trip for the macaroon ice cream sandwiches though.

The new seating is so much better! The food is still just as good. I love getting the house fries woth just 1 meat. The Buddha fries are good for sharing, but a bit much in price and portion for just one person. The guys are nice, and willing to help. Watch out, looks like Carne Asada fries might be replaced

I came here just to try their macaron ice cream sandwiches! The rectangular shaped ones are from Wow Macarons, but you can also get the usual round ones, which are smaller in size. There were about 6 flavors to choose from… so we decided to get the Samoa and Cookies and Cream. The macaron sandwiches are kind of expensive($ 9), but they’re pretty big. I thought the ice cream flavors I tried were okay, but the shells were nice and chewy. Make sure you call them ahead of time to see what flavors are available because their flavors change daily and apparently run out quickly.

I remember this place used to be only an yogurt shop. But decide to come here one day when I discover that they also serve Filipino food infused with Mexican food. Anyways, right when you walk in the workers greets you right away. And immediately introduced you how the menus works and how to order. They are super friendly and patient while you take your time to figure out what to order. They offer many different combinations, from sliders, fries and rice bowls. We order the Buddha fries($ 12.56) they are so good.m. Me and my boyfriend loves this so much! It’s Cajun fries with longanisa, sesame beef and an over easy egg. Fries and longanisa goes together so well! Must try. White elephant smoothie. It was recommended by the employee and omg so freaking bomb. I usually don’t like Thai tea because it’s overly sweeten but the way they made its was so yummy. I couldn’t stop drinking it. It’s Thai tea blended with white chocolate but it taste like Thai tea with Oreos cookies. Recently they added ice cream macaroon($ 8). We got the lychee and strawberry flavor. Those flavors together went well. I love the flavoring combination. I didn’t like how hard the macaroon shell was. It didn’t have the crispyness I was looking. Maybe I needed to let it defrost more? Overall, love coming to this place! Love the atmosphere here! Customers service awesome here they make you feel like your home. However, the cost of food is on the pricer side.

I used to visit this place during college. I would treat myself after a long study sesh with a fro yo. When I saw this place pop up on my Unilocal,I noticed it has changed A LOT! Everyone was raving about the food they had, and I went to check it out. Due to the lengthy odes on social media, I decided to try the longanisa fries with an egg. Oh. My. This stuff is good. Sweet and spicy longanisa covered the mix of veggies and sauce on cajun fries. I love trying new foods, and this definitely didn’t disappoint. There is a large menu ready to be explored. AND they have frozen yogurt. :D

Oooh awwww … When I first discovered this spot I was intrigued by all the awesome pics, reviews, tips about the«sisig and longanisa fries» and Wow… Fusion style ‘make your own super fry’ spot nearby the parents’ pad… We had to try this out! As we walked in, we were promptly greeted and immediately instructed on how we order: «pick your entrée, pick your meat, pick your size, etc etc. I don’t think I was really paying attention because I usually let wifey order. She ordered a combo with«sisig» spam and added longanisa in the mix as well. This exotic concoction also included a drink of choice… Didn’t sound too bad of a deal. We also added Mj’s Signature Dole Whip macaron sandwich to enjoy afterwards. Ok here goes the breakdown… these«Sisig» fries aren’t what you think. I understand there are certain variations of «sisig» style dishes such as civeche style, beef, spam, etc but this«sisig» spam isn’t what I expected. When I think of sisig I think of sizzling crispy calamansi savory goodness with that distinctive«pop» to it. This meat just tasted like savory/sweet spam. If there is a next time then I’ll make sure to order just straight up Pork… And I am not sure what type of the pig they would use because I was informed they use«good quality meats» maybe a pork belly which shouldn’t be too bad. Overall, the longanisa and other ingredients such as seasoned fries and their special sauce were good but maybe I can suggest normal unseasoned potatoes just so the meats flavoring can stand out even more. I suppose we were a victim of seasony overload. Okay now for the Dole whip Macaron Sandwich. I can definitely give this an A for effort and uniqueness. This was definitely made for the sharing couple in mind since this monstrous dessert could of easily been accompanied with a knife and fork. Overall, the sandwich was tangy and complimented by the soft yet crispy macaron shell. I wish the macaron parts were slightly thicker but this was a good compliment after eating the sisig longanisa fries. Here is my Overview… Food consisted of good quality, service was friendly and informative, the menu is definitely unique. I felt the meal was pricey… $ 28 total for 2 adults: fries combo, extra meat, over medium egg, small side of red rice, macaron dole whip dessert($ 8.86!)

Great food & exceptional customer service! Whenever my boyfriend & I are in the area, we always make our way over here. There serve a variety of delicious filipino-mexican entrees & meats. We ordered: 805 South Burrito, with Cajun Fries — Meat = Sweet & Spicy Longanisa. & comes with eggs & lumpia. Delicious! Buddha Fries, with Cajun Fries — 2 meats = Apple & Pear Glazed Beef, Marinated Pork. Mmm! The beef is by far my favorite meat here & I highly recommend ordering it especially if it is your first time here, you will get hooked. Comes with eggs & an Asian salad on the top. The Buddha style is large & good to share. ThaiMex Smoothie — I will drive the distance for this drink alone! Thai Tea & Horchata blended together to make this mouthwatering drink! They also serve frozen yogurt & macaroon ice cream sandwiches.

They really should change the name bc I think they’re known for everything BUT yogurt! Lol. So anyways, we went here on a weekday afternoon, the place was empty except for another group already sitting and eating. We already ate, so just came for dessert… The guys behind the counter were super friendly, helpful, and very polite… We wanted some macaron ice cream sandwiches, so he showed us which ones were still available… We ordered 3 ice cream sandwiches total… I got the churro macaron with Thai tea ice cream, the«Thaimex», which I’m told sells out pretty quick… Omg it was total unexpected deliciousness. The macaron was a perfect chewy texture with a nice cinnamon taste… Great combination with the rich flavor of the Thai tea ice cream. Their sandwiches are pre-made, which actually works out in allowing the sandwiches to keep its shape while killing it! LoL… They are kind of pricey at $ 9 each, but I’d say they are definitely worth trying… And worth coming back… UPDATE– we tried their langonisa fries. Definitely not for the weak hearted. Literally And figuratively. It’s one of those greasy, rich, confusing combination of flavors that end up being pretty good. Hard to explain. Not something you should eat on a regular basis, but definitely worth trying.

So we came here a couple weeks ago and I had been dying to try this place. I was not disappointed. I only wish I had been hungrier! My fault for eating earlier in the day. I’m definitely a fan of the red rice and that hot sauce is fantastic. It burned the back of my throat in the best way possible. What a surprise! We split a burrito and an order of the famous fries. I didn’t even attempt to order, not because the menu is intimidating, I had been drinking all day. The service here is great. We were greeted immediately upon entering and treated like old friends. You can really tell that these guys have a passion for what they do. I’m definitely a fan. I like the laid back atmosphere here too. It’s casual and unassuming. You wouldn’t know upon entering that you’re about to be treated to such delightful food combinations. I almost wish this was closer to my house, but I’d probably weigh a ton if it was. I really lack self control, I’d be here everyday, pouring that hot sauce on anything they’d let me order. I’ll definitely be be back to sample more of the menu. And this time I’ll wear my stretchy pants and bring my appetite!

Good to go experience here. Had read the reviews and knew what I wanted to try so walked in like a ‘regular’ and ordered the langonista and carne Asada fries and 4 pork tacos. Somewhere in the ordering process I got confused and then admitted I was a first time customer. Guy was super cool and said he thought I was a regular cause I ordered so well. Seems like a great guy — very nice and helpful. Food was out in 15 minutes. Everything was great. Knocked off a half star for the two meat fries had a lot of carne Asada but not the same amount of langonista which was disappointing as I prefer that better. The other half a star is for the high prices. Not a big deal but this place is kinda expensive and does make you challenge the idea of price vs value. Anyway, will be back to try some other things… keep up the good work!

Get ready to have a foodgasm at this place. That’s what happened to me last weekend, I could barely even speak for fear of drooling all over myself while devouring my oh-so-delish 805 South Burrito. We’re talkin’ sweet & spicy longanisa, fried egg, cajun fries and TWO lumpias… all rolled into a massive flour tortilla, then DEEP-FRIED(I got it chimichanga style). The fiancé got the Fo Shoko(salmon & longanisa I think?). Our friends got the Longanisa fries. I tried a little bit of everything, but I think the burrito was definitely my favorite! Oh yes… and topped off with a Thai Mex macaron sandwich(thai tea & horchata)! This place is soooo worth the trip. I highly recommend this… especially for your cheat meal!
