Green City Landscapes

We had always been under the impression that when you hired a contractor locally that it shouldn’t be a problem, especially when the contractor is roughly within your own zip code. Apparently we were mistaken.
We contacted this company, explained to them what we wanted an estimate for, provided them a considerable amount of information, and then were told that we could schedule a date for an estimate/​proposal. The representative said they would call back. When they did they stated that they could not send anyone out because our residence was beyond their geographical boundaries!
Really? Since when is a matter of 5 miles within the same city outside of the geographical boundaries of a particular company? If it were the suburbs I’d understand. But this sudden revelation is bizarre. .. that is unless this particular contractor «red lines» certain areas or neighborhoods.
For his information, the neighborhood we live in is made of of all working and retired people, professional, middle to upper middle class — regardless of race. It is the Pill Hill/​Calumet Heights community.
Guess it just goes to show that the old «race issues trump business» once again rears it’s ugly head in Chicago.

I couldn’t be happier about the excellent work that Green City Landscapes did for me. After spending some time on their website, i was thinking they might be out of my price range, but the quote they gave was right where i’d hoped it would be.
Luis was excellent to work with and their level of professionalism was outstanding. The work was done very quickly and orderly, and they were very good about maintaining a tidy job site and being careful of the plants around where the work was done.
The main work Green City did for me was to set and level about 400 sq/​ft of blue stone. Having installed this myself in the past it was clear to me that these guys really know how to wrangle bluestone, which (in my case) were large heavy pavers of various sizes and thicknesses. They also built a small privacy fence in my gangway, it looks fantastic.

I have had the pleasure of working with Greencity Landscapes for a few years now. Angela and her crew designed a beautiful garden oasis for my mom in the east village neighborhood. The company provided great direction in terms of what plants required the least amount of maintenance and maximized the space as best as possible. Also, GreenCity partnered with a few other contractors to install an iron wrought fence to prevent the pooches from destroying the garden. Every year greencity comes in and performs a maintenance service that leaves the garden looking as beautiful as the first day it was finished. I would highly recommend working with them if you are looking for ideas on greening up your space.

I am so happy with the work completed by Green City Landscapes. I had multiple estimates before hiring Luis and his crew to do the work. Luis was incredibly kind, intelligent, and skilled in his work and design. We had our front and back yard designed with hardscape, grass, and a tree in the back yard. They completed a big job in three days and always left the area clean and neat. I cannot say enough about this company and highly recommend them

I called them to get an estimate on my yard (small residential). I explained that I have a pool and dogs and I was interested in a hardscape type project rather than landscape.
The girl told me that they weren’t the company for me and that I should go to Menards and pick out rock and have a neighborhood landscaper do the project.
They may be a good company for some, but were useless to me.

I am super impressed by Green City Landscapes, everywhere else i contacted gave me such a headache. They are extremely nice and helpful. If you are looking for a Landscaper in Chicago do yourself a favor and call these guys.
