We are Independent experienced massage therapists in Lincoln Park-​Chicago providing swedish massage, hot stone massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy to help our client’s achieve a pain free lifestyle. Massage therapy begins as a luxury and over time it becomes a necessity as one’s true age is the health of their spine. Our client’s become loyal regulars and our rates are affordable to come every week, every other week, or every month. We love what we do for a living and we work for ourselves. We plan extra time in case you want 10 extra minutes of massage or if your running late so that you dont lose that time like you do in a corporate setting.

Our rates include deep tissue and hot stones. We charge for time and provide customized massages based on your needs and posture. We offer packages and discounts on our regular rates monday-​thursday to keep massage affordable. Our experience sets us apart from the compeition. We pride ourselves on great massages!

History

Established in 2013.

John and Rich are licensed massage therapists with both over 10+ years experience in massage therapy. We decided to go in business together as a way to help people feel better, live pain free lifestyles and work for ourselves. There’s many challenges in running a business, besides performing a great number of massages, but we pride ourselves in doing a great job and our techniques have been refined from having alot of experience. We know there’s a lot of competition for massage in Chicago and we are happy for that. We do our best to go the extra mile for our client’s by using a variety of massages and techniques to maximize the efficiency of your massage.

We perform relaxation (swedish) massage, sports massage (that includes alot of stretching), Deep tissue massage, Clincial massage for injuries or misaligned posture and chronic pain, we incorporate hot stone therapy. We can really help improve your posture, and we are eager to show you why you’ll want to be coming back.

I am a licensed massage therapist since 2003 with a background in alignment based yoga. Massage is my passion and through my understanding of massage and yoga and having a great mentor in John Nino, I have refined my massage techniques to really help realign my client’s posture and i sometimes use pillows and props to accomodate the natural S curve of your spine in optimal alignment. This allows me to access muscles in the neck and shoulders that many massage therapists have trouble accessing otherwise at a very deep level for those in need of improved posture.

I like to introduce all my clients to hot stone therapy and perform relaxation (swedish), sports massage, deep tissue massage and clinical massage for pain and chronic injury. I can really help you improve your posture by my understanding of anatomy and I believe my newly deveopled use of pillows and bolsters to release pressure in joints allows me to give the one of the most beneficial massage in Chicago.

John and Rich, your made my partner and I feel so GREAT for our couples massage. Thank you for taking the time to learn about what we needed versus just doing the basic.
Prior to the massage I had been on a 2 week work trip and hurt my knee prior to going. This created a very sore body and especially shoulders due to using crutches. I was needing a good relaxation moment after a long work trip. Rich was skilled and extra great with deep tissue/​sports massage at caring for my shoulders and soreness and I felt the difference immediately.
We were visiting in Chicago and looked all over for a gay-​friendly massage place in Chicago, so glad we found EMV Massage. I LOVED that they did our couples massage side by side. If ever in Chicago, I will return! :)
Sidenote: Appointment was needed, but they were great to fit us in! Definitely great massage and I can say — best couples massage in Chicago! (at this time ;))

John gave a great massage that really targeted all my trouble areas. I’m a tall (6’6″) athlete that sometimes feels ‘too big for the massage table’. John’s massage skills negated this concern and left me relaxed and feeling infinitely better. It was also my first hot stone massage and will definitely not be my last!

Just had an amazing massage with John. I get debilitating tension and migraine headaches on a pretty regular basis, and I’ve found that a good massage can work better than my medication does. John listened to all my concerns and tailored my massage to address my headache which is now almost non-​existent. I was so impressed that I bought a package on the spot. Can’t wait to go back!

I got my first massage ever today at EMV from John and it was seriously amazing! I work at a desk all day, but I’ve also been a dancer for years, and John identified my problem areas and helped me to understand what might have caused them. (Ex: tension in my shoulders and hips) He went a bit over and didn’t charge extra, and I got to briefly meet his business partner and he was just as kind and personable as John was. Like other reviews state, the décor is average, but I don’t think this is particularly relevant because the massage isn’t dependent upon the décor! John’s skill in his massage technique is obvious. He was very helpful in explaining everything since it was my first massage and I felt very comfortable. I left feeling better than ever and I am definitely going back — already made my next appointment!

This was my first experience at EMV and I am very happy. John is very skilled at identifying trouble areas, explaining what the causes likely are, and then correcting the issue. I left in much less pain and feeling great! They aren’t «clock watchers», are reasonably-​priced, and nice, friendly people. Scheduling is very easy as John only takes a few evenings off and is very flexible. I will be returning.
The only con is the first impression given from the musty waiting room and old furniture. Reserve your judgement for afterwards!

I hate writing poor reviews but I feel that anyone thinking about getting a massage here needs to know a few things.
The setting is very creepy. The website looks clean/​professional but the environment was not clean. The room I went into had a divider and it was evident that on the opposing side there were a bunch of bags/​boxes tossed around. I feel horrible saying this but it’s the only way I can describe it… I seriously felt like I just walked into a really cheap porno video.
The massage was fine… seemed professional… seemed like he, Rich, knew what he was doing. However, I’ve had similar quality massages for the same price at other locations… I rather go somewhere clean/​where I feel safe.

If you’re looking for a true professional, this place is the go-​to shop. It’s slightly challenging to find (it’s disconcertingly tucked away on the top floor without a lot of signage to guide you), but both John and Rich really know what they’re doing when it comes to the human body.
When I walked in to the building, John could tell which areas of my body needed the most work just by looking at how I walk and stand. He will work with you to figure out the best use of your appointment time and during the massage, he will quickly pinpoint the muscle groups that you’ve probably been complaining about to your significant other for the last month. He meticulously assesses each muscle in your body which is great because you just lay there and he’ll do the rest. I’ll be back soon!
Side bar: the hot stones therapy is an extra $ 10 but worth every penny. The heat feels great and compliments the massage very nicely.

John has an amazing talent! you know the saying, «some people work to be good and some people are born with it»? The level of perfection I received at EMV makes me think John was born with it.
I’ve had the blessing of many massages in my life. They were all just massages in he end. i let them do what they did and went about my day. When I went to EMV a couple days ago, things were very different. i have a natural resistance to telling people how to do their job, i expect they know what they’re doing, so my previous massages were lacking. With John, he listened to my body and sought out the aches. I didn’t have to say anything, and it was perfect, i just lay there and received.

RIch is awesome! He got me in the night that I spoke with him, no problem. When I got there, he asked me questions about what kind of exercise I did, how often, how I slept, my massage history, etc. He is very knowledgeable on all different kinds of sports/​exercise and the problems that come with them.

Rich was incredible! Don’t hesitate to make yourself an appointment ASAP. I definitely consider myself a massage connoisseur since I get a massage at least once a month and Rich was up there with one of the best massages I’ve ever had.
Given an ongoing shoulder injury, I constantly have an extreme amount of tension in my shoulders. I went to Rich to get some relief and he was able to provide. I found that Rich was able to give quite a deep massage without it ever being painful. It was always the perfect amount of pressure and he was very communicative– intermittently checking in to make sure everything was still feeling good. I’ll definitely be back to see Rich next time I’m in Chicago. Thank you so much again!

Wow! I can’t say enough good things about John. I had many session with him and after every session I make sure that I book an anotherone for next week. He is a really kind, intelligent guy — great sense of humor. and extremely skilled.
The session put me in a healing ‘zone’ where I felt the stress of my life disappearing… I actually fell asleep for a little while (and I have chronic insomnia!). Leaving his studio I can only say I felt good to be alive… my energy was revived, physical stress gone, and things weighing on my mind in the last few days feel a lot lighter. John is amazing. This is the best massage I have ever received. I usually walk out of massages with bruising because my back and neck are so tight that therapists have felt the need to be rough with me. John insisted that he try a different pressure and technique. This is the first time I left a massage feeling relief (for several days after) and with no pain; only ease of motion and a strong awareness of my body’s unwinding. I would highly recommend getting in if you have chronic pain and muscle tightness. John really knows what he’s doing, and is always happy to explain which muscles he’s working on, what causes the damage, and how to help.

I had a great experience here. I used a groupon because honestly I don’t like to commit to regular prices until I know it’s worth it and this place definitely is. I am so use to people not rubbing my back hard enough and when I told this guy moderate deep tissue he definitely didn’t disappoint. Very laid back environment too. I would recommend getting the hot stone and deep tissue combo it’s only like 10 – 15 $ more.

It had been almost 2 years since my last massage and needed one badly. I picked John at EMV based on the great reviews and because I knew I needed the strength usually associated with male therapists to untie my back.
John gets 5 stars because of his awareness of how tight my muscles were as well as his ability to target areas of my body that I didn’t even realize I needed work on. There was also some flexibility work incorporated which is important for everyone.
The space was clean and relaxing and pricing is very fair. I’ll be back soon!

John is the first male I have gotten a massage from, and I no longer prefer to get massaged by anyone else! This man is blessed with a special gift for healing.
I thought I would never get a massage from a man. However, after giving John a try, I have a deeper perspective on what deep-​tissue sports massage is about. He let me know where my body was holding the stress, and he also points out the knots and other tender spots throughout my body.
With my approval, I have allowed him to massage me in such a deep manner, that I start to breathe hard, because of how deep it feels. While this is going on, he does let me know on what scale is the deepness (Scale of 1 to 10) that he uses at that moment.
When I get massaged by John, not only do I feel like I am getting massaged by a massage therapist, but I also feel like am being worked on by a professional sports massage therapist –of whom he is.
I have gone through some stressful challenges towards the last year and a half of my Marine Corps career, and now I have found a highly-​skilled professional to gradually help me release all that stress. His stretching method feels so good, unlike anything I have ever felt before in my life –it helps him to dig deep in the muscles.
After his massages, I feel more confident at the gym. I plan on getting worked on by him, once a week. This therapist’s work is serious, but his character and personality is genuine.
