Description

Specialties

Align Studio specializes in hands-on instruction and attention to detail to create a personal pilates experience in an intimate boutique setting. Our highly trained instructors combine pilates principals with other therapeutic techniques to obtain core strength, address postural issues, and achieve fitness goals. We offer a wide range of group mat classes and reformer classes, from basic pilates to advanced cardio, weight training and kettlebell. Class sizes are intentionally limited to ensure individual attention and focus on proper form. Massage services are fitness-specific and based on function and an understanding of movement.

History

Established in 2007.

Align began in 2007 as a boutique studio dedicated to servcing the needs of each individual client through private pilates instruction. We are unique in that we use pilates as a base to both assess and address postural and functional issues but combine a variety of techniques– including soft tissue release, joint mobilization, orthopedic joint assesments, cranial sacral therapy, and chiropractic principals– to progress the client through the pilates repertoire. While Align began with just a handful of group mat classes, the demand for additional classes plus reformer classes resulted in the opening of the Align Annex around the corner in May of 2009. We now offer a full group class schedule that emphasizes cross training with a variety of classes ranging from basic pilates mat and reformer classes to more advanced fusion classes of pilates, cardio and weight training.

Meet the Business Owner

Steven W.

Business Owner

Steven began teaching Pilates in 2001, certifying with Michelle Larson of Core Dynamics in Santa Fe. He is extremely knowledgable in anatomy and joint mechanics having studied extensively at both UIC and National University of Health Sciences. At National he spent 3 years in the Chiropractic program learning soft tissue manipulation, orthopedic joint testing, chiropractic assessments and mobilization techniques, and that lovely yet invaluable year of cadaver dissection. He encorporates all of these elemants into his practise enabling him to work with a variety of specific injury/rehab issues.

Before opening Align Steven worked at several Chicago pilates studios where he developed continuing education programs and created anatomy education workshops for pilates instructors. He has taught specialized courses in SI joint function and shoulder mechanics.
