Spot on Americano. Friendly employees. Yummy donuts. Go on. Get in there. We stayed in Logan Square, and our place unfortunately didn’t have a coffee shop within walking distance. That said, street parking for Bow Truss was easy, and they were the only shop open at 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning. It was worth the stop.

Mocha is great. Sweeter than other house made syrups in Chicago, but super tasty. Staff was super kind and helpful. I felt much more welcome here than I do at Intelligetsia.

Just want to say I was in the shop this morning feeling very very cold And I told them that I don’t drink coffee and the intriguing young lady behind the counter suggested a latte. I very much appreciated the welcoming attitude and the hospitality. The latte was warmth to the soul… keep doing what you are doing because you do it well.

I’m vegan — and obsessed with Chai Tea Lattes. It’s my go-to drink at any coffee shop. I’m visiting friends and popped in to check this place out. I got the hot version with soy milk and it was excellent. Gold stars for having both almond and soy milk as vegan options. The friendly girl working there suggested soy would go better. Annoying that they charge 50 cents extra for alternative milk, but I guess that’s 99% of coffee shops. I just picked up my tea to go, so I didn’t spend any time there. However it looked like a chilled-out place with some cool art work on the walls. Lots of people working on their laptops. Although I’m obsessed with Intelligentsia’s COLD chai tea latte, I don’t love their hot version. Glad I decided to give Bow Truss a try on a cold afternoon.

Cute interior, but I think they are bit overpriced for a cappuccino. Decent coffee, but there are so many other places I would rather go in the neighborhood.

I’ve recently switched from Metropolis to Bowtruss beans after purchasing a few different blends, and I must admit that it’s a great decision.

coffee is good. but the tables are stupid-small, there’s not enough room for a laptop and your drink(let alone two ppl trying to work/hang out together). given the culture of cafes in 2015, this is a counterintuitive design decision. another bad design decision is the ceramic-ware used for their lattes. the saucers are very deep and makes it unable for you to comfortably use the uncomfortable and too-small handle on the mug. these things may sound minor or inconsequential but it really irks me.

I joined three others sprinting across Kedzie in a pouring rainstorm. When we all landed in a clump at Bowtruss’s doorstep, I figured this might not be a bad destination to wait out the rain. Coffee was very well brewed, and the barista did a good job of orienting me to the different types they had. The space was relatively comfortable — clean, but not antiseptic — and the Steely Dan album playing on an old stereo best described as a «hi-fi» sealed the deal. Logan Square is a bit out of my way from my normal haunts when visiting Chicago, but I’d definitely return for a strong, potent cup of coffee.

Love this place! Was lucky enough that it’s just a few steps from my hotel. Amazing coffee, great staff, lovely taste in music. I had a machiatto that was close to perfection. I’ll probably come back every day.

I went into Bowtruss this morning and tried to order a 12oz half caffeinated Americano. I have some digestion issues this days and two shots, one caffeinated is really my limit. I was told that they pour all shots 2 at a time so in order to get half caf, I would have to order 4. I said fine, I’ll pay for all four, but I only want half of each. The guy goes ahead and makes me that $ 4 cup of coffee, at which point I ask if he only put in half of each pour and he tells me, in his best full on snob attitude, that this would be impossible that all of their shots are expressed two at a time. I suggested that he could have poured half of each«expression» in. And he said, «I could not, that’s against the rules». He also filled the cup absolutely to the brim in a move that seemed intended to force me to spill scalding water over my hand when I tried to pick it up – like, as a punishment for having placed an order that he didn’t like. Anyway, I swear I was not being a jerk – this level of rudeness came out of absolutely nowhere; there didn’t seem to be anything I could have done to have ameliorated things short of not being a person who has indigestion. In fairness, there was another guy there at the time(not the barista, but the cashier), who seemed perfectly normal. So, I guess not every employee there is openly hostile to the customers just for sport. Regardless, I’m not going to get coffee somewhere where the experience is likely to be similar to the one I’d have at the DMV. I bought a couple pounds of coffee while I was there(one caf, one decaf). So I ultimately made that americano I wanted at home. Its pretty good, but not good enough to get me back in there.

Cold brew is nice. Gets me going for sure. Vanilla Latte was a bit sweet but I can easily fix that by requesting less pumps. Has a more relaxed and less busy feel than surrounding cafes. Hope it stays that way. For the comment on the bathrooms, they are normal Logan Square bathrooms. I’m totally fine with them. They do the job and the soap smells good. Theres also a nice retro sound system in the dining room bumping some nice tunes.

This is a great third-wave coffee shop. I’ve been here a good number of times and I have only had great experiences. Friendly staff and great coffee.

So many things I loved about this place. Service was great! Employees were very friendly. Coffee was superb — I had a cappuccino and the foam was like a perfectly moist fluffy cloud. The big windows by the bar were just what I wanted for reading on a rainy day.

I hate to do this, but I can only give this Bow Truss location 2 stars. The reason being is that their bathrooms are on the verge of disgusting. I’ve been in several times, and for a brand new build out, they completely skimped out there. The toilets are tiny and almost pressed up against the wall. The tile floors are sort of slimy, and frankly the bathrooms themselves have ben fairly dirty when i’ve gone in(even first thing in the morning). Why is this so important? Coffee is a laxative for god’s sake. The coffee itself is good, and i like the interior, but the bathroom situation really needs some attention for me to give them anything other then an average review. In the meantime i’ll happily go to Intelligenstia, Reno or even Gaslight for coffee. If nature calls, I don’t want to have use the Bow Truss’s bathroom.

Have been going to Intelligentsia on the other side of the Logan Sq blue line for a while now and have been consistently disappointed with the awful attitude of the staff. Super unfriendly. So I was really pleased when I decided to give Bowtruss a try. Friendly service, really nice environment. Go here and avoid the snobs across the street!

Cold brew coffee was good but nothing special. Quite expensive for what it is. Service was fast and the employees seemed pleasant, but the one thing that kind of bothers me is that they set up their ipad payment system to default to a 20% tip. You have to go out of your way to change it, that is, if you notice. I’m sure most people sign and don’t even notice they’re paying $ 6 for their iced coffee. 20% default tip at a coffee shop, without clearly telling you, is not in good taste. I’d recommend New Wave or Intelligentsia over this place.

I’ve been a fan of Bow Truss for a couple years now and was ecstatic when I heard they were moving to Logan. A couple weeks ago I had some friends in town and we popped in the shop. It’s a great space with many friendly approachable baristas waiting to help you out. When I came back this week, Brooklyn & Rebecca greeted me like I was a regular, which I will become! During our transaction, I got my fav cold brew and we had a dance party to boot! This stop is a must for any coffee lover in the city.

Wonderful everything. I have never had bad coffee from Bow Truss and I’ve been to all their locations so this new addition is definitely welcomed — especially since it has both wifi and bathrooms which no other location has. Definitely jealous of Logan Square.

This is my new coffee pit stop before I make it into work each morning! Top notch coffee with friendly service. They did a great job with the space giving it a hip feel, with room to sit and enjoy your coffee. Extra bonus is that it’s so close to the Logan Square blue line stop, you don’t have to change your route to work!

Glad I stopped in! They opened about two weeks ago and it has taken me this long to figure out they opened. Very happy they did. The staff is pretty friendly and the coffee is delicious. They only have a pie selection for treats, but hopefully their offerings will expand in the near future. They are open earlier than Reno and some of the other places near by so its great to be able to stop here before work. Currently they open at 7am and next week they will try a new opening time of 6:30 am.
