I love Backbone! I have been seeing Dr. Schwab because of some back pain… being at a computer all day really messes with my back! A chiropractor (at a different place, NOT Backbone) messed up my back after an adjustment and so I went to see Dr. Schwab and she completely fixed me up. I had seriously bad back pain before that. I go regularly for adjustments and feel so great afterwards! I have also gone in for massages and always feel amazing afterward. Everyone there is so friendly too. Just a great place overall and highly recommend!

Dr. Chris Ammann is one of the best chiropractors in Austin! He is our whole family’s chiropractor. I have two teenage boys that play football and we had weekly adjustments to make sure they were staying healthy and straight during the season and monthly adjustments to keep them healthy.
The cranial adjustments really helped them during the season with all the hits they took. Cranial adjustments help in so many areas, concussions, sinuses, TMJ, just to name a few that we have been helped with. I had severe cedar allergies last week and went in for an adjustment and was with out symptoms when I left. Dr. Ammann has always gone over and beyond chiropractor care, he is more about total wellness. I have a lot of health issues and he has been a pivotal part of helping me realize what I needed to do on my path to wellness.

Took my 5 yr old to see Dr. Chris Amman (pronounced am-​man) yesterday and my little one dos great. Dr. Chris was fantastic with him. Patient, funny, explained things, and asked him questions.
If you’ve never had your child adjusted its totally different than an adults adjustment. Dr. Chris does some amazing cranial adjustments. Yes, I said cranial. As in your noggin. My son has horrible cedar fever, fever included, and this 1 adjustment helped him be able to sleep peacefully last night.

Great Doctors. Dr. Schwab is awesome. My family and I have been seeing her for many years off and on as needed (including at her other location). You feel like your family because they all are so warm and caring. She does a great job in treatment. She always remembers exactly what she does on my body which is head to toe complete care. She is very knowledgeable. We plan to keep going to her as long as we need to.

I love going here. It is so relaxing and the doctors are great. They take great care of you and even offer massages. I definitely recommend going there!

There are only a few doctors I know of that can truly transform a person’s health; Dr. Schwab is one of those. Her approach is gentle, compassionate and focused on educating her patients so they are empowered to meet their own goals. For over 10 years I struggled with low energy, weight I couldn’t shed and various, vague health complaints no doctor was able to clearly diagnose, let alone treat. When I was ready, (as I’d become quite skeptical,) Dr. Schwab led me through a series of lifestyle adjustments that radically transformed my health and my life. As a reflection, my body shed 70 lbs., my energy returned and I was able to reduce my thyroid and pain medications — permanently! it’s been 4 years now, I still feel and look great. I highly recommend this practice!!!

Dr. Clinton and her staff are wonderful! I’ve been going here to fix a particular problem for the last month and I feel so much better! Still have more to do but the difference is amazing! I’m able to bring in my kiddo with me too, which has been so easy! They are really helping improve my quality of life every time I visit. Love this office!

This was my first experience with getting chiropractic work done and it was incredible! The consultation was very informative and open. I worked with Adrianna and Dr Clinton! They both are so warm, friendly, and had a genuine caring attitude! They also were both funny and supportive! I didn’t know what to expect from chiropractic adjustments (other than they had to be better then asking my wife to crack my back on the ground). And it was great!
My shoulders use to lean inward and that was fixed, I feel taller and my body feels comfortable and looser!

I never had to wait, they put me on therapy excessive while I wait for doctor, in and out very quick each visit.

I have been going to Backbone for many many years. Dr Schwab and Dr Clinton are both fantastic. The office staff is professional and friendly, the facility is comfortable and relaxing, the doctors make you feel completely comfortable and really get to know you so they can address all your issues. I really like that they have such a variety of services and they treat the whole person from chiropractic to massage to skin and nutrition. The new location is very convenient too.

I have been so happy with and relieved by my treatments with Dr. Schwab. When I first came to see Dr. Swab I was in so much pain in my back and hips. Now my pain is barely perceptible. Dr. Swab’s holistic approach heals the entire person. The other services available add a bonus to the chiropractic treatment. The very friendly staff make it a pleasure to visit the office.

I first started visiting a year ago, when my back pain/​neck/​hip pain was no longer bearable. I have heard many horror stories about chiropractors in the past so I put it off as long as possible. But after years of heavy EMS work, a nasty car wreck, and carrying backpacks that weighed as much as I did — It was getting to the point where it was affecting my way of life.
I found Backbone Wellness through Unilocal and decided with much anxiety to give it a shot. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with cheery and welcoming faces, by some of the nicest and most professional staff I have ever met. Everybody there is just lovely, and make you feel right at home!
When I met Dr. Schwab, we ran through my history, took xrays, and performed a series of test to see exactly what I needed done and develop a game plan to get me back on top of my game. It was an aggressive plan, and it took some time, but now a year later I feel tons better, even my posture has improved dramatically! I have never had a bad experience in the hundreds of times I have been there, and recommend them to ANYBODY and everybody, even if you don’t have crazy back issues. She had amazing knowledge of sports medicine and can help you with just about anything that hurts and make sure you stay in tip top shape if you exercise a lot.
As an added bonus, Dr. Schwab is also a nutritionist and has changed my life and how I view food. I have already lost a bunch of weight, gotten stronger, and gained so much energy from her program that is based on real science and not fad diets. Everybody is so supportive and helpful, and I wouldn’t have been able to make the changes to my diet without them.
They have truly changed my life for the better, and I am so happy that I decided to listen to previous reviews and go here — I hope I help someone else do the same! :)

Been a customer for two years, and they have great customer service.Dr.Clinton cares about her patients and well being, I would have given this place 10 stars, if I could, you will not regret coming to this office and if you haven’t, you are missing out.

Dr. Clinton is so knowledgable in her field of Chiropratic and health. I have always received relief when I visit her. The new office atmosphere is wonderful. I really feel like we are improving our health when we step in the door! We took our son to see her when he was a new born and have taken him back for periodic visits. He is always more relaxed after the visits. Thank you Dr. Clinton for your years of commitment and friendship to our family.

First time here and I was pleased with my experience. Only time will tell if this is gonna be the place for me. But Dr. Schwab has given me good vibes. I would recommend and have already. Clean and nice facility as well!

I started seeing Dr. Schwab over 2 years ago. When I first went to see her, my back pain kept me in bed some days, and certainly many days after work. I have had back pain my whole life for seemingly no reason and seen various chiropractors, doctors and physical therapists with no relief. In just a few weeks, I was feeling dramatically better. Now, nearly every day is pain-​free and I just visit every couple weeks to get back in alignment to keep it that way.
Whenever I get sick, this is the first doctor I visit and the results are always great. I am so thankful for the work she did with me during a double ear infection to provide relief and quicken healing
The office staff is super friendly and I love the physical & massage therapists there that add to the adjustment’s effectiveness. One thing I appreciate most is how I am never kept waiting very long, if at all; I am always happy to have a doctor respect my time. I never feel rushed during my appointment and she truly cares about my overall health.

I first saw Dr. Schwab a couple years ago at the old location at Mopac/​Parmer when I worked for the news and carried a 35lb camera on a daily basis. I had been having migraines on a daily basis along allergy symptoms (which I haven’t had since I moved to Austin back in 2002) and she found that my C1 and C2 vertebrae were pinching the nerves there and causing the symptoms. It took a few sessions to get the pain alleviated but that was because of the tightness of the muscles due to the nature of my job. Once the pain was gone it never came back. I would go twice a month until I left news at the end of 2013 and hadn’t had to go back until recently when I had a mild reoccurrence of the those symptoms.
This was my first visit to the new location. The ladies at the front desk remembered me even though it had been a year, I even got hug. It’s a lot further of a drive for me but worth it for Dr. Schwab and the fact that she remembered my symptoms and how to fix them. She was able to immediately tell what was out of whack and get it started moving back into place.
The whole staff is so nice and accommodating from the front desk to the massage therapists. They treat you as a friend as opposed as just another patient like some other places. The new building is a lot bigger and gives them even more room to help fix any physical issues you have. Another plus is they are near two great pizza places, Brooklyn Heights and Tony C’s so you can stop there after your treatment :-)

Dr. Schwab is fantastic! I was worried about trying a chiropractor, and she put me at ease and has helped me to get rid of my back pain. She is gentle and a good listener. I am also a big fan of massage therapist, Tatayana. She has really helped in relieving my knotted muscles! Thanks ladies!

I have a love /​hate relationship with Backbone. I do like the one stop shop setup. The Chiropractors & staff are friendly. And Dr. Schwab did adjust me good during and after my pregnancy…
However, as a regular patient i went there on an emergency basis once because of a severe migraine (it was so bad, i was sensitive to light & had tossed my cookies right before getting there). I was left in the front to wait until everyone got done & was embarrassed sitting there with my eyes closed, nauseated & in pain. In an appt previously, i had waited for another patients emergency & now that it was my emergency, I was saddened that they were unfair. Rarely would anyone have to wait on an emergency in a Chiropractors office — if someone has a severe migraine then by all means help the person (as I would want in that situation).
The billing is ridiculous. I just got a bill for services from over a YEAR ago! I had inquired about the bill at the time of service (for my newborn son that got adjusted several times) & they told me what I owed & I paid. (He was a cash patient) Now out of the blue they are charging me more. Both of us got adjusted at the same time & it took less than 10 minutes to adjust my tiny baby. The bill they sent was for like $ 80/​adjustment for a BABY. Seriously?
Also, be aware they charge $ 50 for the neck jackhammer thingy they do after each adjustment (which only takes a few minutes). I guess I got into the wrong profession — charging $ 50 per patient for putting a jackhammer to their neck for 2 minutes! They also charge for «attended stem therapy» when it is actually UNATTENDED (the receptionist puts the sticky electrodes on your back and walks away until it beeps)
If you have insurance that covers services, then go here — no problem since all you pay is the co-​pay & you’re done. If you pay cash — ask about how much each service costs before you start, so you’re not surprised. And be aware, if you have an emergency — you’ll have to unfortunately wait like everyone else…
