I was looking for a photographer who would take natural-​looking, honest and true photos of us. I immediately fell in love with Patty’s photos after looking through her website! She is very organized, thorough, fun to talk to, and is on top of her game. We had 2 specific requests which were to take photos at the beach (photos turned out great) and take a family photo that consisted of about 40 people (my husband comes from a large family). Patty was able to organize everything and all of the photos came out beautifully. She also gave me pointers on how to cut the wedding cake which was a big help since I didn’t know what to do :) We are so glad that Patty was a part of our special day!

Patty has an artistic vision that makes every picture a special moment. Her ability to find the lighting and beauty of the atmosphere makes your photos pop in every way! Patty shot our engagement photos and we honestly could not have been more pleased with the entire process and end product. My fiancée and I were both a little nervous that it could be a little bit awkward but Patty did such a great job of making us feel comfortable and at ease. She worked so hard to get all of the shots that we were looking for and was so helpful in directing us through different poses. When hiring a photographer it was so important to me that they be able to capture emotions associated with different moments and Patty did just that. There are a lot of photographers that can take wonderful posed pictures but Patty does so much more than that. Her eye for detail is impeccable, which is so evident in her final product. We feel so lucky that we decided to work with Petula Pea Photography and cannot wait for Patty to photograph our wedding in a few months.

Let me start by saying as a male I was not thrilled about the idea of a photo shoot. We hired patty for our maternity photos and my wife (and I) could not have been more pleased. She was very nice, professional and easy to work with. We have worked with other photographers in the past and it honestly makes a huge difference when you are passionate about your job as Patty is! The photo quality reflects her passion. She does the little things well (i.e. telling you what’s corny, asking you to relax, picking different poses) and we will definately look to her for our next round of shots! Thanks Patty!

Patty did an amazing job with our maternity photos. We were worried that the shoot would feel a little bit awkward (we had never done anything like this before!). She made us feel very comfortable. First off, I never write Unilocal reviews but Patty is that good that I have to give her props! She is AMAZING!!! We recently had our engagement shoot with her and I could not be happier with our pics! i usually hate every picture i take but I couldn’t believe how gd I looked in our engagement photos. :) The way she captures the moment is incredible! She is a truly gifted photographer.
Patty was highly recommended by my wedding coordinator but I knew she booked up fast so I called her right away! If you want to use her, which you do if you want amazing photos, I would book asap b/​c her calendar fills up quickly!
We took our E-​pics on the beach in April and Patty did all the research on the tides, sunset time, and she even brought us beach blankets to use for our shoot! She had visited San Elijo beach earlier in the day and realized the tide was perfect and reached out to us to see if we wanted to go there instead. From my experience most people and businesses do not take these extra steps to make your experience great. I thought that was really thoughtful and above and beyond my expectations. :)
RE the pics I didn’t know what to expect b/​c I am really shy and can be kinda awkward… BUT, our pics turned out great… very candid and natural. The lighting was beautiful and she caught every sweet moment. :) I can’t say enough about her … to top it all off, she’s just really cool and you’ll love hanging out with her… I’m so happy I got her for my wedding! When we do have kids… she’ll be the first person we’ll call for our family shots. 5 stars!!!

First of all, let me start by saying Patty is absolutely amazing and incredibly talented. I hired Patty to take some Lifestyle shots of me for the interior of my cookbook coming out this September. I was very nervous, because as a photographer myself, I don’t do well on the other side of the lens! It feels very awkward and uncomfortable to me, so I had no idea how the pictures were going to come out. Right away Patty made me feel calm and relaxed. She was so great about telling me what to do with my awkward body parts and really understood my vision. Patty is so warm and fun, she made me feel right at home.

I heard about Patty through word of mouth when I asked a friend where she got her amazing maternity photos taken. I had NEVER seen such creative and lovely photos. She highly recommended Patty and I emailed her right away to book mine — she was booked already (you want to book her early!!) but we were able to schedule family photos after baby was born so I was happy with that.
Patty was so incredibly professional and thorough — she helps plan everything and is very specific in sharing her learnings so that you get the best photos — from inspiration photos to guide wardrobe choices to how to plan the day to have all family members at their best for photos. So helpful!
We really enjoyed the time spent with Patty taking the photos — she is great at staging everyone and also giving direction so that if you are doing something that doesn’t translate well, it’s corrected instead of you not loving your photos. I was specifically exhausted having had a baby 6 weeks prior and being worried about him throughout the shoot — she helped me relax and get comfortable with my new mom self and she also captured the great parts of that now but a memory time. There was one moment where my newborn was crying and I couldn’t soothe him. Patty came over to fix my hair — thank you!!! — and she whispered some super reassuring empathetic words which instantly lifted my care for getting «the perfect family photo». My vibe changed, my kid stopped crying and I realized that was her job and we were in great hands. Everyone commented afterwards on how great her approach was in making everyone feel comfortable and at their best. I felt like I had made a new friend.
Patty was super quick — like within 48 hours maybe sooner — in sharing some of the highlights and we were really happy with the way the photos turned out. We have great family photos of us, our three kids and my parents to treasure forever.
Patty so highly organized in her approach to everything — the contract, the pre-​con, the scheduling of the shoot, the shoot itself, the follow-​up and the product delivery. No detail is left unattended and honestly all was above expectation.

I was a member of a wedding party in November and I have to say that Patty from Petula Pea Photography was outstanding! She was sweet, charming, talented and genuine. Patty was recommended to us by our wedding coordinator after we had a terrible experience with a different photographer. I gave Patty a call and after a few minutes I could tell that she was going to make things right for my fiancé and me.
She answered all my questions (believe me, I had a lot!) and she offered a lot of guidance. She responded to emails and phone calls in a promptly manner. Patty is AMAZING!!! She has a great warmth about her that you instantly feel when you talk to her. Off the bat she was very responsive to emails, answered all questions thoroughly and being incredibly patient while doing so! She made the effort to develop a relationship early on, even before we booked her — she would call occasionally instead of keeping all communication over email. To me, that meant a lot and to top it off she was easy to talk to and both my fiancé and I felt an immediate rapport with her and we booked her on the spot! ++ She’s incredibly organized and detail oriented which let’s be honest, makes things so much easier!
I think that you can find a many different photographers whose «style» you like, but its also about building a relationship and being comfortable with your photographer — so that you feel and look good in your photos. I love the softness in her photos, the lighting she uses beautifully and the moments she’s able to capture. I did 2 shoots with Patty and couldnt have felt more comfortable around her after only meeting once before. She’s an expert at knowing what will stick out and really «make» that photo.
