Towne Tile and Stone

My dad bought tile from this store, most likely the owner. He asked for tile for a walk way. The owner said pick it out. My dad did and when the expensive tile was installed about ¹⁄₃ of them instantly cracked. They were very expensive, probably way over priced. salesman/​owner said he hasn’t used that tile company much before. We called the shop and they refused to help, or even listen to our problem.

Nice store /​shop … great help. Arrived seeking help in finding a counter top for a vanity. Small job. Chris was extremely helpful and thorough even though it was immediately obvious that this job was small and would not result in immediate business for towne tile and stone. Chris helped us to find the best solution and offered several recommendations for acquiring a stone remnant. I wish I has stopped in Towne Tile and Stone several months ago. I recommend that this be your first stop for tile and stone needs. They even handle outdoor pavers.

Only came here for samples. Great customer service. Compact, but comprehensive showroom.

We were completely stumped. We had hired interior designers to help spec a top-​shelf kitchen, guest bath and kids bath remodel. They had selected some tile and stone but we were not convinced that all together it would look good and POP. We gave up on our designers (after $$$$ spent) and decided to try out on our own. We’ve visited all the specialty tile stores in the area All Natural Stone, Tile Shop, Tile Fantastic, etc. They had some interesting product, but we didn’t see how it all would come together.
Then we tried Towne Tile and met Chris. We brought cabinet door sample and existing tile and stone picks. We chatted a bit as he tried to understand our style and wants. Then — get this — he explained the theory behind matching cabinets, countertops, backsplash, above-​range focal point — colors, materials, «movement». It was a complete eye opener. My wife and I felt like we were just given the keys to a magic kingdom of design process. In under an hour, we worked with Chris to completely spec out all kitchen stone, and I can’t wait for it to be done. Then, we came back and in another hour or so finished design for both bathrooms.
Their website says «We Know Everything about Tile and Stone». It’s true.

I stopped in yesterday and was really impressed by Scott. He was a wealth of information and had many great ideas for my bathroom. I will be back!

I found out about Towne Tile and Stone after my tile didn’t arrive in time from another store. I wanted a plan B if the tile did not arrive in time again. I talked to Scott Turner and explained my situation. He called the other store and pushed for a solid delivery date and indicated that it was important that it was delivered on time. It worked because it was delivered on time. Anyone who would go above and beyond on tile I didn’t buy at their store will definitely be my first choice on my next tile or stone project.

Towns tile has been amazing. They have excellent customer service and do what they say. Their prices are what I saw elsewhere with much better customer service. Their showroom and selection was excellent. I struggled with my contractor, but working with Towne Tile was the one part that went well!

Scott, Chris, and Miranda, all helped us on our master bathroom remodel. Everyone there were friendly, helpful, and patient, we made many trips there trying to decide on what stone we were going to use and a layout. Scott Turner drove to San Leandro, where he found the marble type and color we were looking for, we then met him there, loved his choice and purchased 2 slabs through Towne Tile. Scott also came up with a layout that was perfect for our master bath. Our master bathroom turned out fantastic !!! We would recommend Towne tile for any stone or tile design, great place !!!

Chris & Miranda have been great at helping me pick beautiful tile. And when I change my mind or return anything, they’re patient as could be. Thank you for helping make my bathroom remodel a huge success. The sliced pebble on the shower floor is so cool and the gorgeous tile brings style to the house. I’m confident it’s raised the value of the house.

This review is mainly for their customer service. We were remodeling our master bathroom and came here to look at the tiles and potentially buy them. We worked with Chris and Scott. Both of them were very patient with us trying to figure out what we want. Gave a lot of suggestions on the color and tile combinations. I came here more then once. At one time I came in 5 minutes before closing and Scott stayed with me to make sure I have samples to take with me home to look at them. The quotes that they were giving us were very good, but just could not find the right tiles for us in that store. I would definitely recommend anyone to checkout this shop.

Went to the store to buy backsplash tile, and I was so impressed with the service that I ended up buying our vanity counters, floor tile and bullnose. Very friendly and knowledgeable and significantly cheaper than the warehouse type stores in San Jose. We got this really beautiful matte glass beach glass tile that looks incredible and is cheaper than what I found online. Nice selection of Quartz also.

I love this place! My husband and I are in the process of adding onto our house and redoing a bathroom. We went to All Natural Stone and were quoted outrageous prices ($ 66 a sq foot for one tile!). We were about to give up our dream for glass tile when we decided to stop in here. Not only are there prices amazing (so much less than other places-​like ½ as much!), but Scott was very helpful. We were able to get all of the tiles we want, see samples of all colors, and stay within our budget. Do not go to any of the other tile places in our area. I will only come here from here on out!

Chris Fryer of Towne Tile really understands the importance of great customer service. We explained our project to Chris and had pictures to show him of the existing circa 1985 tile we were replacing. He helped us walk through their showroom explaining the differences between the different stone materials and where they came from. He also knew which types of tiles are easier for the installer to handle and why. He sent us home with three samples so we could see them in our own home.
Chris also provided a recommendation for an installer, Saul Echeverria from Diamond Point Tile, that we thought did a terrific job.
We had visited several other stone & tile shops in the area that were simply too big and busy to be bothered with our project. Towne Tile was a smaller shop that excelled in exceptional customer service, knowledge of the business, and an extensive product selection. It is a winning combination!

I purchased bathroom and porch tiles from Towne tiles. Scott was great in answering all questions and was very helpful in decision making. He very promptly ordered a
particular Tile that we had seen at another store and even offered better price, on top of that he is such a pleasant person to work it.
I’d highly recommend this place.

We were looking to remodel our kitchen, bar, and entertainment center when we were referred to Ryan by our neighbor. I did check the reviews as always before making my decision and they were accurate. Ryan assisted us in visiting many granite places and provided his expertise in the selection process, pricing, and installation guidance. He visited our house and really gave us valuable ideas based on his experience and what the current trends are. I must say the whole experience was wonderful and the finished product even better. I would highly recommend his services.

I bought two bathrooms worth of materials from this place — NEVER going back. Turns out, I was not alone in my experiences with Ryan Kelly or this store.
I personally had to have it out with Ryan before he FINALLY produced my order. Even then, it was two weeks late, full of busted tiles, and put my bathroom remodel project behind. Of course, Ryan LIED about the REASON for the delay — blamed it on a backordered distributor. Well, I called the distributor, who told me Ryan failed to pay for the order. Imagine that!
I feel sorry for his #2 Scott (who actually appeared competent and honest). Consider yourself warned: NEVER EVER give Ryan Kelly any money upfront. Cash only upon timely delivery.

The 5 stars are well deserved for Town Tile & Stone. I did an extensive house remodel which included a master bath remodel. I had to visit close to 10 tile/​stone shops in the Santa Clara area. the sheer volume of the various stones/​tiles out there are just overwhelming. Most frustrating part was everywhere I went, the sales people didn’t really help me. I had to pull tile samples myself and ask them about the prices and information. It seemed they could care less or didn’t want to be bothered.
But NOT Scott at Town Tile & Stone! I was looking for an arabesque glass tile and called the store just to check. Scott was helpful on the phone right away, which prompt me to drive down to Campbell for the visit. The store is not huge like Bedrosian or All Natural Stones, but they carry a lot of options. I brought in some of the tiles I already bought elsewhere and told Scott what I wanted to achieve. He was literally on the ground comparing the various stone tiles to make sure i have the best matches. He even drew a layout picture of what each wall & tile area should look like. I felt he was truly passionate about putting together the best tile layout for me, not just to sale me the most expansive tiles.
The end result is beautiful but overall I am just grateful for Scott’s help to pull everything together for me. THANK YOU!

We went in on a Saturday and needed a small amount of tile for a laundry room (55 sq ft). They had a good selection and we easily picked out the floor tile and matching bullnose. Before buying, I asked Chris if he had this in stock as our installers were coming that Friday. He told me they had it in stock in their San Jose warehouse and it would be delivered on Wednesday with plenty of time.
Wednesday came and went without a call from Towne Tile, Thursday morning my wife called. They said they would call us right back which they didn’t do. I called later in the afternoon as the tile contractor was arriving the following morning. I learned they didn’t have the tile, in fact, they don’t actually have a warehouse in San Jose. My wife and I were out of time and options with the tile contractor (and other contractors behind him) coming the next day. Ryan told us to come to the shop and pick something else out and he would make it right.
We went to the shop and the he only had one other tile as an option. Ryan had a pompous attitude like we were putting him out. We chose the tile as we had no options at that point. They promised delivery to our house that evening for installation the next day.
The delivery came and when I checked it, they had delivered the wrong grout. Amazing that nobody double checked after their initial mistake. I immediately drove to the shop and they were long gone 20 minutes after closing. I emailed them and the sales guy called back. He brought the correct grout the next morning.
Ryan gave us a discount on the tile, but when I went to take back the incorrect grout and get the credit, he was even more pompous than before. In his eyes, he made no mistakes. I tried to explain that they had:
1. Lied about the tile being in stock
2. Lied about having a San Jose Warehouse
3. Didn’t call when the tile didn’t arrive
4. Only had one other option available for us
5. Delivered the wrong grout
He was pissed that I had mentioned my experience to someone else. I tried to politely tell him that I think we were going to have to disagree on how badly he handled the situation, but he didn’t want to hear about it. However, had they been honest about 1 – 3 above, I would have used another supplier. Instead, I was stuck with moving forward with them at the 11^th hour.
Do not trust Towne Tile and especially Ryan. They do not have a San Jose Warehouse where the tile is in stock. They rely on outside distributors. Timing on a construction job is very critical. Cut out the middle man and go directly to one of the shops on Brokaw Road.
My advise is, if you do decide to move purchase from Towne Tile, *Do Not Pay* until the tile is delivered on time and your order is correct.

Ryan at Towne Tile totally took care of us from the moment we walked in the door. He even stayed late helping us as we got there about 30 minutes to closing time on a Saturday.
Right away Ryan understood what we wanted and made awesome suggestions to make our shower truly special & beautiful! Ryan helped us from start to finish with the Travertine design and helped us incorporate our accent tiles which I wanted to have within our design.
