Dennis Sakamoto – Just for Actors

My bf and I are currently taking Dennis’ class. He is a great teacher. Very knowledgeable, very accomplished and very passionate about teaching.
His techniques can be applied immediately to castings and I have utilized them during hearing Dennis’ words in my ear boosting my confidence and skill.
Take this class if you have any interest in acting or currently are a model or actor.

I’ve studied with Dennis on-​and-​off for 20 years; in my opinion, you’re not going to find a more empathetic, open, and honest acting coach in the Bay Area.
A lot of people go into show business when they should be seeking therapy — then they take out their issues on their students. Dennis is NOT one of those!
He WILL tell you what you need to hear — with honesty and clarity — in order to make your understanding of the acting craft that much better — but not in a negative or abusive manner. Nor will he discourage you from seeking work in the profession, regardless of your skill level. But he will give you advice that you might not want to hear… which is a blessing since so many agents, managers, etc., in the business tell you what you WANT to hear, so they can take your money.
He knows the business in and out; in my opinion, he could be teach in LA or NY (where I’ve also studied) and charge a lot more money. In fact, he’s underpriced for the SF Bay Area.
If you take his classes, leave your ego at the door, and bring a good attitude — even if you’re not an actor, but say, a corporate professional looking to update your speaking skills, you will walk away with some great experiences and advice.
I say this from experience: I started his class as a corporate professional and by some weird twists of fate, ended up in the Screen Actors Guild, and have worked on corporate gigs, commercials and feature films — and his teaching really stands up to the real world of show business.
I could write a lot more — let’s just say that if you’re interested in acting/​filmmaking/​theatre from any perspective, I don’t think you’ll find a better teacher.

I’m surprised nobody has reviewed Dennis Sakamoto yet. He is an incredible acting coach. If his students all took themselves and their careers as seriously as he does, they would probably all succeed.
Dennis is well-​respected in the industry, and having his name on your resume can be quite helpful. However, he’s more than a name. He will answer your questions in a timely manner with incredible patience and will hold your hand every step of the way.
His classes are reasonably priced, his material is very practical, and he might even let you attend once before signing up so you can make sure it’s what you’re looking for.
This is a man who has been there and done that, and you should ignore his advice only at your own peril. He had people who helped guide him in the right direction back in the day, and now he’s willing to pass along what he’s learned. He’s self-​aware and not afraid to share the mistakes he’s made so that you can avoid them.
What a relief to be able to ask him all of your «stupid» questions so you don’t have to display your inexperience while looking for work!
Don’t let his years of experience fool you. He’s very much in touch with what’s going on today, has a lot more energy than those many years his junior, and still looks every inch the actor that he is.
Also love that you don’t need to live in SF to get access to one of the best in the business.
