Cinnamon Solar

I installed solar back in 2001 with a company that is now no longer in business. Fast forward to 2016 and I need roof work that requires removing the solar to access. Of course, no company today wants to work with a solar system they didn’t install. After trying to find a company who would do both, I finally decided to use two separate companies and went with Cinnamon Solar for the PV uninstall and reinstall. Not only did Cinnamon Solar give me the best priced estimate, but it was clear from all the info on their website (especially white papers about mounting systems) that they know their stuff.
Cinnamon worked with the roofing company to coordinate their work so that my solar was down for as little time as possible, even when the roofer hit delays. Libni, in particular, was outstanding at communicating so I always knew what to expect.
They also cleaned and inspected my 15 year-​old panels and found two that were dead and two that were about to go dead. They showed me the burned out spots on the back of the panels and pointed out that they were a fire hazard. Too bad that my panel manufacturer had also gone out of business. :(But I’m glad these defects were discovered.
I would not hesitate to use them again if I want to expand my system, and recommend them highly to friends.

I’d like to echo the positive reviews from previous Cinnamon Solar customers. We researched five to six solar companies and soon found out how much we did not know about the solar industry. One company even offered us a «free» air conditioner (which of course was not «free»). Talking to PGE about upgrading our service panel made going solar seem impossible. These podcasts were not advertisements, but instead, geared to educating the public about the ins and outs of the solar industry to enable consumers to make informed decisions. Instead of taking 3 weeks to install our system, it was installed in 4 days! The crew was clean, professional and best of all they took care of everything from permits and inspections to working with PGE. Scott even discovered that we had more amps in our service panel than we thought! This company has given us the kind of personal service and expertise that you seldom see anymore. They really earned our trust, which means so much with this level of investment. So happy that we are now green and generating our own power!

We had a really good experience with Cinnamon Solar. We already had three estimates when we called. Scott came out within a few hours and we had a quote a few hours after that. What we liked was the promptness and efficiency but also the flexibility. Other evaluations were imaging systems that would sit in the shade of our neighbor’s giant ash tree half the day. Cinnamon was willing to listen to our calculations about how to mount in the most advantageous way.
We also liked knowing the company and the manufacturing were nearby. The work was done promptly, and, more amazing, the PG&E permission to link up came through in about five business days, The day after installation was complete, Scott came by with a drone to fly over the house and take pictures of the installation. Within another hour or two we had copies of the pictures, so we know exactly what is up there. (We have a reverse mount on the rear roof, so the system is not easily inspected from the ground.) Cinnamon was professional pleasant to deal with.

Just like other reviewers, we had done lots of homework before deciding on a Solar Contractor. Cinnamon Solar became the obvious choice for a number of reasons. They were flexible with regard to panel choice. They shared our high regard for the use of micro-​inverters. Barry Cinnamon’s unparalleled knowledge of solar systems and the industry created a solar system that is both the best, and the best price per watt out of all our proposals.
It gets better. Because of the size of this company, everyone we came in contact with were knowledgeable professionals. No high pressure salespeople, slick brochures or ‘freebie’ tote bags. Just straight forward honest facts by dedicated people interested in helping you get the best solar system for your money. This includes (in our case) avoiding an expensive and unnecessary panel upgrade. By the way, don’t believe the big outfits that offer a ‘free’ panel upgrade. Look at the bottom line. It’s not free. And for us it wasn’t needed, despite what the ‘big guys’ told us.
We were down to the wire when we finally made our decision and signed the contract, but Barry and Scott made a personal promise to have the system completed before the end of December so we could take advantage of the tax credit for 2015. This is a promise that was kept despite the rainy weather, and our system was up and running perfectly on December 27^th. Libni and his crew are the best, having worked diligently each day until completion.
Google Barry Cinnamon and you will learn that he is a highly regarded expert within the solar industry. Cinnamon Solar doesn’t advertise, it’s all word of mouth. So call them to make an appointment, then make your own decision.

Like most of the reviews before me, I am tremendously pleased with Cinnamon Solar. From the very beginning interview with Scott to the post installation followup with Libni, they have been exemplary. I would like to point out the highlights rather than boring you with flowery prose.
1. Punctual, clean and professional crew.
2. Clear, concise explanation and more when I asked more questions, even to the point that the owner Barry came by to explain their system.
3. They waited until newer, more efficient panels were released.
4. They returned minimally damaged panels (from mis-​packing) to get me flawless panels.
5. They refunded me when my installation was delayed because of #3.
These guys are the real thing. I cannot praise them more highly. I wish all the contractors I use were just like them… and they are nice guys. Kudos!

I cannot say enough how great the experience with Cinnamon Solar was. They were all very professional and patient as they answered all of my many questions. If you’re researching solar energy systems, there’s a lot to wrap your head around to make a data driven decision that you are comfortable with. .. after all, it’s a big investment. I learned of Cinnamon Solar through my neighbor who was thrilled with his experience. He’s an engineer and we love to geek out on this stuff. Since I always do my homework, I spent over month learning about solar energy systems from the history to the technology including the manufacturers behind these products. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the inverter options as well as the best panel to go with given there are so many — moreover, there are numerous installers that you can partner with on your project.
After meeting with 7 installation firms, to assemble an RFI based on my current/​near future energy requirements, references, company background + multiple hours on Excel to help me with a cost /​benefit analysis, sales engagement process, Cinnamon came on top. I specify proposals because I was looking at multiple system sizes across various panel options to yield more data across various installers. Given my neighbor did his own independent research and I trust his Googliness, I was glad that my findings yielded the same result. .. I couldn’t go wrong with Cinnamon.
As a result of my thorough data analysis selecting the right partner on this project, my family could thoroughly enjoy this «home improvement» project. I have to admit, some «home improvement» projects are awful (from managing contractors to dealing with the dust). My entire experience with Cinnamon was top notch from beginning to end. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised that the process was so quick and easy. It took me longer to install our artificial grass!
On a daily basis, I check out my energy production and smile because it was such a great decision — I always get kudos from the wife on this one. .. no more expensive bills from pg&e after running the A/​C day and night!

We spent the past 6 months researching solar companies for a solar installation at our residence. After much research, we knew we wanted American made panels with micro-​inverters. We narrowed the field down to two companies and then, after speaking with a neighbor and a friend, decided to contact Cinnamon Solar for a proposal. We were pleasantly surprised when both the CEO, Barry Cinnamon, and the design consultant, Scott Oswald, came to our home to meet with us. They took the time to answer all of our questions, thoroughly check to make sure that the system we needed would fit adequately on our roof (without being visible from the front of the house) and make sure that we had the electrical system to handle the solar system. (It is funny that we have a sign out front advertising Cinnamon Solar, but you can’t see any of the panels.)
Unlike the other solar companies, Cinnamon Solar figured out how to maximize the size of the solar system and minimize the impact to our wallet. Other companies simply quoted us a smaller system (fewer panels) to keep the costs down. Cinnamon Solar took care of the drawings, made arrangements for the permit, installed the system and helped with the paperwork for PG&E. Other vendors told us that it could take up to 4 weeks between the time the city signed off on the installation and when PG&E would approve the system for operation. The approval for our system was submitted at 2pm on June 16^th and we received approval from PG& for operation on June 18^th! 2 days and just 5 weeks from the date we signed the contract with Cinnamon Solar. I attribute the short timeframe to the great team at Cinnamon Solar.
Our only regret is that we should have contacted Cinnamon Solar 6 months ago and skipped talking to the other Solar companies.

Cinnamon Solar just completed an installation for my home. This review is about the install experience. Quality of product will need longer time of usage before a reasonable review can be given.
I have a south facing roof with no trees that can cause shading of the solar panels. So the roof location is perfect for installation.
With so many solar companies /​installers in the area, why did I choose Cinnamon Solar? First, their CEO, Barry Cinnamon, has a radio talk show every Sat. I learned about Cinnamon Solar from listening to the show. Barry is technical, founder of two solar companies now (that I know of), very knowledgeable about solar and renewable energy. He also came to my home when I asked for a quote (Scott was the sales manager), and introduced himself, offer an opportunity to answer any questions that I may have. Honestly, not many CEOs /​owners will do that. Second, I am interested with a solar system using micro inverters. Most companies will offer either micro inverters or straight inverters. Cinnamon Solar only does micro inverters. I read the advantages of using micro inverters, but also read that they may have more maintenance issues /​go bad more often, than straight inverters. I thought if Barry only offers to do micro inverters and built Cinnamon Solar on this premise, he must know and have good experience with micro inverters. Third, the price is reasonable.
The install took ²¹⁄₂ days. Went very smooth. Libni and Jonathan plus a third person (forgot his name) were diligent in their work, courteous, notified me when the work will start, what they are doing. Good communication. Took the time to paint the electrical box as well as wiring conduit to match the color of my home. When installation has completed, Libni showed /​helped me to set up the Enlighten /​TP-​Link box in order to have access to the web for monitoring how the system is doing. This web monitoring /​reporting is free, comes with the package. Since there is one micro inverter for each panel, the monitoring checks on all the performance of the micro inverters. If anyone is not working, the report will show it. Use of straight inverter will not have this capability. I understand some companies may charge their customers for similar monitoring service. So this is another advantage with choosing this company.
Most of all, the city inspector came out and within 45 minutes signed off the installation. This can only points to the careful and thorough job that Libni and Jonathan did as well as the completeness of the information provided for the permit application paperwork. Otherwise, the final inspection will not be this smooth.
In summary, the whole process from explaining the system /​company to me, to quote generation, to communication, to installation, to final sign off, the experience has been very good. I would recommend this company for solar project.
Review on the system performance will be at least 6 — 12 months later.

There are 3 things that are certain to increase every year — tax, gas, and electricity. Our electricity bill kept going higher and higher. The only way to combat this situation was to conserve energy or install solar. I took the path of less resistance and decided to install solar because I can’t turn off so many lights or TVs all the time. I’ve been researching solar for quite some time. I just couldn’t decide on the installer. Cinnamon Solar was referred to me by a friend. I’m glad I picked them. Barry is an industry expert who’s been doing this for some time. His crew led by Libni did a great job on the installation. Christy was able to get PGE activated in no time. Now I can get back to enjoying life instead of going on «Lights» patrol. I never really look forward to sunny clear skies until now — Cinnamon Solar for the win!

I know of Cinnamon Solar from their previous company that was bought by a larger entity. It is good to see Cinnamon Solar’s management now providing their high level of customer service via a new organization that reflects their commitment to doing the job right and on time. They put a system on our home around five year’s ago and we’ve were trouble free through the whole process. Everything went smoothly and we enjoy having more than enough power to keep our home electric bills at zero.

We installed a solar system in 2001 and were delighted with the results. Installation went smoothly, they took care of all of the paperwork, and all we had to do was watch the meter run backwards. A few years after the installation, there was a recall on the panels, and Cinnamon Solar took care of installing brand-​new panels for us at no charge; output was even better than at the start. We would love to have them install a system for us in Baton Rouge, where we now live, but they tell us that they are working only in Silicon Valley now.

Barry has always done a great job installing solar systems. We had him install our system on a diifficult, complicated rooftop. Only a small portion was south facing, it had metal CalPac roofing installed over old wooden shakes, needed 5 pipes moved from the south to the north side. Barry brought in an excellent roofer to hanlde the pipes and his team devised a creative way to make the install solid. I have a monitoring system installed and we’re getting better than expected/​predicted production. Our bills are almost a thing of the past and if I had more roofspace, I’d have him put up more panels and buy an EV. I highly recommend Cinnamon Solar. You can’t go wrong with Barry!

We worked with Barry and his team on our home — difficult because of a steep roof pitch. The team designed a good-​looking system that also maximized production, then installed it on schedule. They took care of the paperwork and city approvals, and were a pleasure to work with. Best of all, when we had an issue with a roof leak, they fixed the leak, and fixed the drywall that the leak had damaged — and they did that quickly and at no charge. I am very satisfied with our decision to install solar electricity at our house, and with our experience with Barry Cinnamon.
