Description

Specialties

Silicon Valley’s premier solar installer with a heritage of 10,000 happy customers since 2001. For more about solar, listen to the Energy Show on KLIV every Sunday morning, hosted by Barry Cinnamon.

We take care of everything you need to install your system quickly and affordably. We pride ourselves on installing systems with the cleanest aesthetics, best ROI (15% to 20+%) and fastest paybacks (typically 4 – 8 years). Why lease a system when it makes so much more sense to buy it?

Fill up your EV from the sun — we specialize in solar-EV integration. Custom-designed systems starting at $ 7,000, with No Money Down financing options. With our fast paybacks, you can expect 20+ years of free electricity without sneaky lease terms.

All equipment is unconditionally guaranteed for 25 years. We use name-brand solar panels, and we pioneered the standardized use of microinverters in 2009 — which are much safer, more reliable and shade tolerant. No worries about dangerous 600 volt wiring.

History

Established in 2001.

The rooftop solar boom started in California during the energy crisis of 2001. Barry Cinnamon founded Akeena Solar that year in Silicon Valley, which grew to be the largest residential installer in the last decade with over 10,000 solar customers in California, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Colorado and Hawaii. Akeena partnered with the Westinghouse Electric Company to create Westinghouse Solar in 2010, and then merged with an overseas energy company in 2012.

Cinnamon Solar continues the vision at Akeena Solar: developing and installing residential solar power systems optimized to produce the most electricity for the lowest price. To keep costs down, Cinnamon Solar only works in the Silicon Valley and installs standardized crystalline silicon solar panels connected to microinverters for safety.

Business Owner

Barry Cinnamon is a long-time advocate of solar power and is a widely recognized solar power expert. Mr. Cinnamon started his career in solar energy in the late 1970’s at MIT researching new flat plate and concentrating collector designs. His pioneering work on reducing costs of rooftop solar power systems led to over 30 issued and applied for patents, including Andalay, the first solar panel with integrated racking, grounding and wiring, the first UL listed AC solar panel with a microinverter, and the first fully «plug and play» AC solar panel.

He is a NABCEP Emeritus Solar Installer, a licensed California C-46 Solar Contractor, former President of the California Solar Energy Industries Association, Vice Chair and Board Alternate of the Solar Energy Industries Association PV Division, and a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum.
