I have been servicing Clinton Hill and Bed-​Stuys (also some parts of Prospect Heights and Crown Heights) dog community for 8+ years. I have two wonderful helpers, one full time and one part-​time. I’m very much an alpha, and the dogs appreciate my taking the lead.

Born in Guyana, South America, and raised in Boston, MA. I arrived in New York to study at Pratt Institute in 1985. Worked in retail for over 20 years, from The Brooklyn Museum, Rizzolo Bookstore (SoHo), JFK Airport (Duty Free Intl.) to Non-​profit publishing (Rockefeller University Press). Not happy with just sitting behind a desk, I went back to my creative roots. I knew I wanted to work with my hands and be outside, or close to the outdoors. I started apprenticing at a wood workshop as a sander. Best summer of my life. But alas, one had to pay the bills. My dog walker suggested (and on many other occasions) that I should dog walk and that she was leaving her business, would I be interested. Maybe I’ll just take one client and see how it goes. That lead to a second, and that conflicted with my schedule at the shop. I left and have been walking dogs ever since and loving it. As dogs are prone to do, they accepted me with open arms as their pack leader and member.

I had an 8 month old Bluenose pit bull, which weighed 80 lbs. I was unable to find a dog daycare service for him while I was at work. I contacted a few places, but they were hesitant due to the breed and size of my dog. A friend recommended Nickey, so I gave her a call and set up a meet and greet. Within 10 minutes of observing my pit bull among her pack, she accepted him as a client. I was prepared to pay a hefty price, but when she quoted the daily price, I was more than surprised. Let’s just say the cost is extremely low when compared to the service she provides.
My Bluenose pit bull is almost 14 months old now, and I’ve seen great changes in him since attending Sid and Tapka’s service. He is well socialized with dogs of all sizes. When he gets home from Nickey’s, all he wants is some water, and he’s wiped out for the night. I work and attend school, and this service provides a peace of mind for me knowing my boy is in great care, getting his exercise and being socialized, which is essential. To sum it up, this is a awesome service for anyone for anyone who works and/​or attends activities outside of their home, leaving their dog alone for long periods of time. The price is right, and the service is great, I recommend Sid and Tapka’s to everyone with a four legged friend.

I am so glad to have found Nickey in the neighborhood! I’ve been using her services for over a year and will definitely continue to do so. Her dogwalker Mello always leaves notes letting me know how the walk went. Although I don’t have a pit bull I very much appreciate that she doesn’t discriminate against them as many boarding services do.

We had been living in the area for about 3 years with our French Bulldog before we actually needed to hire Nickey and the crew for their services. We would run into Nickey and the dogs often and she’s always been cool to talk to and see her train the packs. They are the easiest, most convenient and true dog loving caretakers.
Daniel and Mello had pretty much been walking our dog for about 4 years straight. We’ve never had any problems. Most importantly we come home to a happy and healthy bully! We have also used their services for overnight stays when we have to leave town. We trust them and highly recommend them. They are a total gem in the neighborhood and wish we can still use them after we moved out of the area!

Nickey has been my neighbor for many years. I always see her walking dogs, and she has a smile all the time. I always said that if I ever was to have a dog, that I would want Nickey to take care of him or her. Well it so happens I do have a dog now, and of course Nickey takes care of him. She has taken him on walks, and we went for a meet and greet at her house, so he can now come for daycare. He will be having his first sleepover in a couple of weeks. Nickey’s place is just like home, and maybe even better. She has a backyard, tons of comfy beds to choose from, and are even allowed on the couch and bed!!! That wins it for my pup. She has a great pack of dogs that are very welcoming. I totally give Nickey an A++ for outstanding customer service!!!

I was recommending Nickey to someone and I sent the link to this Unilocal page and can’t believe she only has one review! So, I figured I would write my two cents. I just came back from an awesome vacation and my dog Lucky was happily camped out at Nickey’s while I was away. It makes it soooo much easier to go away when you know your pet is in such good hands. I also send Lucky to «day care» at Nickey’s usually about once a week. What I love about Nickey is that it is like leaving your dog at a family member’s or friend’s house – Lucky has the run of the place, gets to snooze on the couch and play in the back yard – no kennels or anything remotely like he is being «boarded». It’s like he is at home but way better and less boring because she has a couple dogs and usually has a bunch of other pups there for day care so Lucky gets extra play and fun. On top of that she takes Lucky with her on runs and walks. He is literally EXHAUSTED when he comes home. So thumbs up! Sid & Tapka’s is the best.

Sad to see only one review for Nickey and Nickey and her team… They are the absolute best!
I’ve been using Sid and Tapka’s dog walking and getaway services for almost 5 years since I first got my little pug. Nickey was originally walking my dog herself, but now she has a few walkers who work for her. Nickey is the best. She’s great with the dogs. Incredibly reliable and I can tell she really cares about my dog. Daniel walks my dog now and I would say the same about him. He’s great! In addition to my pug, I’ve had a number of foster pugs over the years. Nickey has taken great care of them as well! Even helping feed and take care of a special needs pug that I had and walking one crazy aggressive pug. Nothing seems to faze her.
In addition to walking, I also use the boarding service. It’s reasonably priced and my dog loves it. Nickey has a nice setup for boarding with a private backyard for the dogs to frolic in. Nickey boards dogs of all sizes together, but I have NEVER feared for the safety of my little guy with the big dogs. Nickey keeps everyone under control.
In addition to being an awesome dog walker Nickey is a great person. She’s helped me out on a few occasions when I’ve locked myself out of my house and needed a key. She’s rescued and given homes to abandoned dogs… And she’s generally just a sweet gal. Can’t recommend Sid and Tapka’s enough.

We are really blessed to have Nickey in our lives. She has been walking our two dogs for over 2 years. Every walk she leaves a detailed note about what went on when she had them. She’ll even do thoughtful things like turn on the AC for them during the summer if we’ve left without doing it and its super hot outside. She’s very thoughtful and has helped us out at the last minute many times. I see her quite often during the week walking different dogs and everyone I’ve recommended to her, has loved her. She loves what she does and I feel happy knowing my dogs get to have that while theyre with her.
