I don’t write reviews often, but I love this place. First of all, they do checks for oral cancer during every cleaning because they feel it’s their moral responsibility since no one else will do that for you basically until you notice something is wrong. I made an appointment for a cleaning and when they realized I was also due for a screening and dental exam they quickly found time to get me in while I was there. They found a small cavity and were able to fill it while I was there. The staff is super friendly and they always recommend good food in great detail when I ask, which is every time. My fears of the dentist have decreased greatly because of their care in explaining procedures and being gentle. Thank you, thank you!

Everyone was very friendly and nice and efficient. They didn’t try and push any treatment on me which I really appreciated. They did try to sell me invisalign which made me feel a little pressured (I like my slightly crooked teeth!)

I wished I found Dr. Teichman sooner! After going to the same dentist for 10+ yrs in Manhattan, I discovered this dental office because I had to get a cleaning and couldn’t trek into the city. Not sure why I didn’t switch 5 years ago when we first moved to Park Slope. Long story short, I ended up transferring my files to Dr. Techman’s office after my first initial visit. First, the front desk staff (Renee and Lisa) are always super helpful and friendly. The dental hygienist was very gentle during my cleaning and told me some new cleaning tactics that I now practice everyday. I had some fillings done with Dr. Teichman. I HATE getting dental work done but he has great bedside manners and was very gentle with the procedure. He’s also a super nice guy and easy to talk to.
Definitely check them out if you live in the hood!

Hygenist May does a VERY GOOD cleaning. FLAWLESS. I can’t stop looking at my teeth after cleaning so great they look! Dr Plotnik is nice and thorough and is a good decent knowledgeable doctor who was helpful.
but as to Dr Teichman himself-​it was a long while ago– I literary hated my experience with him. and after reading couple of reviews below I realized I was not the only one he tried to scam for cavities (which i did not have) and more. I just can’t imagine how nowadays some doctors take advantage of people like that. its
pay attention or better have a second opinion is smth sounds not right.
but as I said cleaning was very good. very very good:)

I absolutely love this office.
After suffering for years and years with a horrible dentist, I found this place and never looked back.
Dr. Plotnick is my dentist and she is awesome at what she does. She is very careful and meticulous. She did my root canal and I had no anxiety or pain. I completely trust her and I wouldn’t go to anyone else.
I actually don’t mind making regular appointments to the dentist anymore.
I know how harrowing it is to go to the dentist or look for a good one. You will not be disappointed with this office.

This review is specifically aimed at people who have an HMO dental plan as opposed to a PPO, or uninsured customers.
So, like a number of my professional peers, I knew my company’s dental plan wasn’t stellar; but only when I parted ways with a dentist in Chelsea and was then repeatedly denied access to every dentist my friends recommended did I realize just how big of a difference those three letters mean in this city when it comes to health care. I quickly discovered that the HMO, while admittedly better than having no dental insurance at all, severely limited my options to offices that seemed like extensions of the DMV– crazy waits, archaic and a bit unkempt, and with staff who looked like they hated every minute of their jobs and lives. One dentist spent a two hour plus procedure communicating with me only in grunts! It was so discouraging that I was thisclose to saying «to hell with it, from now on I’ll just pay full price at an office that gets decent reviews.»
Then a flyer for Dr. Teichman’s office showed up in my mailbox one day, specifically naming my insurance provider and promising, «we take it!»
I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but any wariness I had evaporated the minute I walked into his office and was greeted warmly by his receptionist, the hygienists, and the dentists themselves. I’ve only been worked on by Dr. Ho and Dr. Plotnick, who are wonderful, but Dr. Teichman has always smiled and said hello to me in passing. Everyone in this office is friendly, talkative, knowledgeable, and great at what they do.
As for the costs: I have NEVER been given any doom-​and-​gloom prognoses or was pressured into undergoing any immediate procedures my wallet couldn’t handle here. Yeah, if your teeth aren’t great and it has been a few years since you’ve seen a dentist, chances are good you’re going to have cavities and maybe even need a root canal – that’s just common sense. Barring pain, there’s also no reason you can’t hold off on some of them or go get a second opinion, and the dentists here have always made it very clear that they’re able to accommodate on those fronts instead of trying to shake you down.
If getting «ripped off» means compassionate dentists and hygienists performing amazingly proficient work using state-​of-​the-​art technology, fine by me. I would rather come here and leave feeling reassured and well taken care of rather than saving a few bucks getting grunted at elsewhere.
Also, in a month or two I’ll be hopping on my husband’s PPO dental plan, which will give me a lot more options than I currently have; and you know what? I’m staying put.

I was in excruciating pain for two days, and after calling another local place that didn’t have an appointment for a week, I was able to get in the same day here. I saw Dr. Plotnick, and she is absolutely lovely. I was a mess — literally crying in pain in the initial consultation — and she rushed me in and told me that I needed a root canal. She was great during the procedure as well. She was very encouraging, apprised me of exactly what she was doing, and was mindful of the clock because I told her I had to pick up my son at a set time. I had initially asked if I could use the groupon for a certain amount of the procedures and then pay more for the rest, and they told me no so I didn’t go in with any false expectations. I only waited a few minutes to be seen and they were accommodating in setting up my followup cleaning and the second part of my root canal.

I got a cleaning done here with a Groupon. I’ve done a bunch of cleanings with Groupons and this was the best experience I’ve ever had. I felt like it was a very good practice with all very talented and professional staff. Most importantly, they were really thorough but didn’t try to pressure me into getting tons of unnecessary procedures, etc, the way most places do.

I have to agree with Kent R. — rarely would I Unilocal about a dentist, but Dr. Plotnick deserves praise. I came here with a Google Offer for a long-​overdue cleaning, and have been back multiple times since for the — gulp — multiple cavities I had neglected. Yet there was no typical-​dentist-​guilt-​trip from Dr. Plotnick. Professional and quite personable, she explained the state of my teeth with more clarity and thoroughness than anyone else. She takes care to get to know her patients — I’m impressed with how well she remembers me after just a a couple of visits! Lively, patient, and knowledgable, Dr. Plotnick makes the oft-​dreaded dentist visit a bit more bearable. Staff is also friendly, helpful and efficient.

I’m serious, this is the best dentist I have ever been to.
When I first came here I was super anxious about all/​any dental work (even cleanings). I had a bunch of stuff done in California and when I moved to New York I still had to get a crown on my root canal’d tooth.
He and his whole staff were so friendly. The dentists didn’t make me feel bad about being nervous, instead they were patient and kind. They changed my whole outlook on dentistry.
I highly recommend this dentist. There’s a classic kind of doctor patient care here. It’s great. I came to this office all the way up from Bushwick/​Ridgewood and have recommended him to friends all throughout Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. It’s worth it.
Also, my teeth have never looked whiter than after one of their cleanings!

It sounds like people have had bad experiences with Dr. Teichman and good experiences with other dentists who’ve worked there. I can’t comment on Dr. Teichman, but I had another dentist, I think she was Dr. Ho, and she was great. I also used the Groupon deal, but she didn’t try to push any other services on me. In fact, she mentioned I could get a teeth guard to protect my teeth from grinding at night, but she recommended, instead of buying one from them, to try a cheaper, over-​the-​counter one first. She said otherwise my teeth looked fine and was very thorough, including an oral cancer screening. The hygienist was brutal with my teeth, but it was worth it. I can’t remember the last time they felt so clean. Perhaps, if you make an appointment, you can try requesting Dr. Ho?

I first came to this office with a Groupon. I was a little nervous going to a dentist that wasn’t referred to me by a friend, but it turned out to be one of the best dental office’s that I have ever been to.
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Plotnick. She is incredibly friendly, funny and thorough– which takes most of the stress out of going to the dentist. She was very straight forward with what I needed and what my options were. I never felt like I was being talked into any unnecessary procedures (Most dentists in the past have always pushed whitening treatments on me…)
The hygienists were all great as well and gave me one of the most painless cleanings that I have had in a long time.
I highly recommend.

I first came in with a groupon about two years ago, and this has become my regular dentist office. I haven’t seen Dr. Teichman himself, but saw Dr. Ho once and Dr. Plotnick once and they were both excellent! Both women, Dr. Ho and Dr. Plotnick, were very pleasant and each one took time to explain things and answer all of my questions. They didn’t find any cavities, by the way. Also, the woman in charge of billing has been extremely helpful and kind, including giving me a big discount when I found out on arriving for my appointment that my insurance didn’t include dentistry (doh!). The hygienists who gave me my cleanings were also very friendly, thorough and professional.

I loved my trip to Park Slope Dentistry. I never met Dr. Teichman, but I did have an amazing hygienist (Pat, I believe), an awesome xray technician and Dr. Ho, who gave me an incredible dental exam. I went to PS Dentistry because of the Groupon, and because my husband couldn’t stop raving about his time there. I must tell you that I agree with him — this place is awesome. I wish I knew about it sooner. My last cleaning at my (now former) dentist was about 2 – 3 minutes tops. At this office? 45 minutes. It was the most thorough, gentle cleaning I have ever had, and I was thoroughly impressed. In short, I highly recommend this place!

I have had a TON of dental work done here. I highly recommend Dr. Plotnick. I had been so worried about my teeth since I got some huge metal cavities when I was very young. They have always been problematic for me since the fillings were VERY deep. She basically laid out a treatment plan for the whole future of my dental needs, which was, yes, frightening to see — but it was also really relieving to have someone who finally took the time to lay all the cards on the table — and plan out my future with me. The metal fillings were so deep and big that no dentist can actually tell whether or not there is a cavity — which after years of having them apparently the metal shrinks and leaves tiny spaces in which cavities most definitely will form. I knew this was the case, but no dentist ever really told me the truth, that if i didnt replace them now — root canals (or worse — which has already been the case for one of them) were most certainly in my future. Other dentists I have gone to simply fix the obvious problem, and don’t take the time to tell you of preventative care so I won’t have to pay for all implants in the future which can cost $ 5000 a piece! While the price of filling replacements was a hard pill to swallow — I know I’ve saved myself a LOT of money and a LOT of pain in the future.
They have great technicians who are very gentle when taking X-​rays and everyone in general is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I saw Dr Plotnick many times and you can tell she is an excellent dentist. They are pricey, which can be scary — but they’ll tell you the reality of costs. It’s really worth it to have a great dentist do your work — I have complete confidence in the longevity of her work — she even fixed some things that my previous dentist screwed up a little. All of my appointment have taken a long time, but it is just because she is METICULOUS. I’ve had several root canals and none have fit so seamlessly as the ones I got here. The cost was hard for me, but I really felt the difference of getting top notch care. Throughout each procedure she explained things fully and each time I was able to see the chart/​map of my progress and my future. My teeth and I love her!

When an old cavity filling broke, I knew the massive hole it left would be a dental and financial nightmare without immediate repair. So you could probably imagine the fear and self-​loathing embarrassment I felt hesitantly walking into dental office eight months later. But without judgment (and a warm smile), Dr. Plotnick took a brave look at my neglected tooth and said, «Daniel, good news! We’re going to do everything we can to save it.» 20 minutes and 20 hearty numbed mouth laughs later and I was good as new. Better than new because now I have a favorite expert dentist at an affordable price.

I went to this dental office a few years ago when I first moved to Brooklyn. I hadn’t been to the dentist in about a year so I was in desperate need of a cleaning.
After my cleaning and x-​ray I was told I had 8 cavities!!! 8!!! I was totally shocked since I take really good care of my teeth and have only had 2 filling in my entire life. I couldn’t believe that my teeth had deteriorated that much in 1 year. They tried to schedule an appointment for the following week to have all the fillings done on the same day. I was a little suspicious because I was asked by at least 3 people in the office if I had dental insurance plus I had absolutely no pain… in my experience, if you have a cavity it hurts like hell so if I had 8 I think I would have been in agony! Needless to say I got a second opinion before I had my mouth filled with mercury.
It took me 6 months to schedule an appointment with another dentist. Guess how many cavities they found… ZERO!!! My teeth were perfectly fine. I was so angry that they tried to rip me off like that! If you want my advise, steer clear of this place.

I came here with a groupon for cleaning, x-​rays and check up. Everyone in the office was very nice and there was no problem with the groupon. I think it’s unfair that some people gave this place only 1 star because they didn’t bother to read the fine print.
I cannot comment on Dr. Teichman. I was seen by another dentist called Dr. Pollack (sp?) She was thorough, knowledgeable and very friendly. She didn’t try to push any procedures and told me my teeth were in excellent shape.
There was some waiting involved, but only 5 min in the waiting room and another 10 on the exam chair.
The hygienist was thorough and gentle and explained the condition of my gums and how to better manage them. She did recommend a $ 55 antibiotic injection but did not push the matter when I declined.

I went to see Dr. Teichman because of a groupon including x-​rays and cleaning, which is helpful for those of us without dental insurance. I waited for about twenty minutes in the lobby, and then waited about thirty more minutes in the chair for my hygienist. They were very friendly about it, and didn’t like to keep me waiting, but that’s what happened.
The cleaning was very thorough. No complaints there. And the x-​ray machine was pretty cool. Dr. Teichman showed me on my x-​rays all the «problem spots» I had, and said he would need to do one filling based on the x-​ray, and that it would cost about $ 350. The hygienist doing my cleaning also tried to sell me some type of antibiotic injection for my gums at $ 50.
When I went home to San Francisco about a month later I made an appointment with my at-​home dentist, who I have known and trusted for years, to fill my cavity (which, by the way, he charges $ 175 for). I told him the tooth number, and he couldn’t find the cavity. He took x-​rays, and still couldn’t find the cavity. He said I didn’t need anything for my gums either. So, I went home.
There is always the possibility of a difference in opinions, but I could have been out $ 400 for unnecessary work if I had followed Dr. Teichman’s advice. Be wary.

I have been a patient of Dr. Teichman’s for nearly the entire time I have lived in Park Slope– almost 15 years. At the time, dentist in Manhattan closed up a root canal in spite of the fact that something was clearly wrong, and I was in pain for months. Dr. Teichman re-​did the work, and corrected the problem. He is up on the latest technology and does everything he can to make going to the dentist as stress free as possible. Recently I broke a tooth, and Dr. Teichman worked with me to get the situation resolved (a new crown) within the very limited free time I have dictated by my totally insane work schedule.
Dr. Ho, who also works in the office is excellent as well.
Finally, I cannot say enough good things about Denise, the hygenist there. I work my schedule to meet hers. She is amazing!
This is not bargain rate dentistry, but worth every penny. And really what good dentist in this town is cheap? None that I know of…
