Ka Ka is a low-key neighborhood Chinese bakery that I may be a little bit biased towards, so maybe take my 5 stars with a grain of salt but I absolutely love this little café. While there is a distinct language barrier between the staff and myself, the communication just flows and they are generally pleasant. It’s a big guilty pleasure as even the coffee, which is great, is on the sweeter side; all that condensed milk. I particularly enjoy their egg tarts and pork buns, but they also have sandwiches which I have never tried. If you’re feeling adventurous just go for something new from the menu and the display, and you may be pleasantly surprised. I’ve ordered items which were truly perplexing to me, partially due to translation issues, but never one regret. Not one. Great place to sit down, have a quick snack and a coffee in the middle of your day. Stay gold, Ka Ka.

Living in the neighborhood since 2010, I had never been to Ka Ka bakery until last week. Before taking the train, I wanted to try something new, not a bagel or a croissant but maybe a sweet pastry or something. I was totally lost inside, walked from one showcase to other twice. The sitting room was kind of crowded. The cake portions are giant, no way to eat on subway, i needed a quick bite so I decided to get an egg custard which I had no idea about. They are a dollar, I asked for one, the lady seemed surprised, I think people get at least 2 – 3 :) It was definitely fresh. Kind of a mini tart, I’m not sure if there is cream inside or it is just the egg white but you feel the egg smell a lot while eating so it was not a great choice to start the day for me. Will try something else next time.

Nice little Chinese bakery in sleepy Brooklyn. They specialize in your typical egg custard tarts(which I got), a variety of individual cake slices(which are also less sweet, catering to Asian taste buds), and freshly baked sweet buns. Its a good place to sit down, grab a milk tea and eat a Chinese pastry.

Great Chinese bakery a couple of doors down from Q train station on Avenue U. I always appreciate the friendly service here. The selection of baked goods is rather small here, but that’s probably because it’s a small neighborhood. They do have the basics. I am a fan of the chicken sandwiches and the fish sandwiches though — I get them in the morning at 8AM when they are freshly made and they are bomb. I also love their drinks — the iced or hot coffee is surprisingly good and has become my go-to. The milk tea is also perfectly sweetened. There is a large seating area too. This bakery makes my early mornings a little less miserable!

These are the variety of cakes you can find or ask for. Make sure you call first! I think these are a lot better than the regular«American» cake because they’re topped with so much icing or frosting it ruins the cake. However they make the icing very light and their cake is light too. Price is good! Complements well.

I ordered a fresh fruit cake for forty people for my granson’s 100 day celebration. The fruit inside the cake was so fresh. The sponge cake was airy and perfectly lightly sweet. Hust the way I liked it. Our guests all asked for second helpings and wanted to know where we got this awesomely delicious cake. Definitely will order from here again. Thank you for making our occasion so special.

The bread, the noodles, fishballs, all satisfactory. However, the cake is meh and the ice cream cake is an utter disappointment. My mom had to order it 4 to 5 days ahead of time for my birthday and they only had a total of 3 or 4 flavors. They claim that the ice cream is from the ice cream factory but it tastes NOTHING like it. The ice cream is TASTELESS. Sorry, I’m a big fan of the ice cream factory and I KNOW for a fact that this is not how it tastes. If they did really order it from ice cream factory then they must have remixed it themselves afterwards as an attempt to sell more for profit. I’m never buying their cakes again. Plain nor ice cream.

They have great ice coffee but the workers are all Chinese and don’t speak English If you are on line and are NOT Chinese they will skip you and take next Chinese customer! They are rude and very disrespectful to non Chinese customers! SOIFYOUARENOTCHINESEDONOTGOTHERE!!!

Surprising good for basic dim sum and buns. Arrived after 3pm, so all has been sitting in steamer. Few tables. Chinese TV. All good.

Service is good here, prices are also very affordable great stop before or after the train. One of the better bakeries around the area.

Wonderful service with cheap baked goods. How else will you stretch your dollar? Employees had been there for years so they are very good at making connections with their customers. They may be limited in English but they will understand you. Interior has seating so you can sit down and hang out but don’t do so in in the early mornings and lunch rush as it can be crowded.

I frickin love this bakery!!! as soon as you walk in you can find a bunch of delicious cakes by the slice to your left from sponge cakes to vanilla cakes or strawberry cakes. You can also get buns from almond buns to pork buns, hot dog buns with scallions, coconut buns, or shredded pork buns to cheese buns and plain buns with a hint of butter. They also sell awesome sandwiches that come out hot and fresh from the kitchen with ham and cheese or hal egg or sausage or spam, and all these buns and cakes usually range from a dollar to two at most so you can get several varieties without breaking the bank. The best here is the ham and egg croissant! And also the staff is quick and helpful so youll get out of there very quickly its a on the run type of establishment. They also have drinks from bubble teas to flavored /herbal teas and coffee done however you want, and the coffee there is a decent brew, not too light or bold, medium roast. They also are stocked with american or asian juices that have aloe or other funky fruit flavors. Best part of all is that it is clean:).

I used to come here all the time on the weekends when I needed a pastry and did not want to trek to Chinatown in Manhattan. I love their hot beverages: hot horlicks, hot coffee, and hot tea with milk. I also love their buns: they have cha siu baw(bbq roast pork bun) and ham & cheese pastries. There is also some seating available. Maybe like ten tables with some chairs. You’ll seat people sitting around reading newspapers and chatting about life.

The Mexico buns are to die for. The ones with the custard when you are in the mood for something sweet and the ones with the dried pork when you want seething savory. Loooove it!

Love this place, been coming here since I was a kid. Very cheap buns and drinks. Get lemon iced tea. It’s not too sweet but it’s real tea, not like your fuze«tea». It’s pretty clean here and they’re very fast with your order. Try their tea eggs and curry fish balls. Great for snacks! Also don’t come here in the mornings, it’s usually filled with older folks who sit there for hours with coffee. But for the freshest bread, come early! They close early too I believe so early bird catches the worm!

Yes, that is really the name of this bakery! It is clean, friendly and offers the standard .80-$ 1.25 Chinatown bakery items. Really a 3.5 but very conveniently located next to the Avenue U «Q train» station. I went in the late afternoon which is not the time to judge a bakery, so a follow up morning visit is on my calendar!

Ka Ka Bakery is your typical Chinese bakery, but probably a bit larger with a good amount of seating in the back. It’s conveniently located next to the Avenue U Q train station and is a good place to get a morning bun if you need breakfast. They also serve the usual cakes and pastries. One pleasant addition to this bakery is that they serve macaroni soups and small lo mein noodles from the back. There is one disappointment that I have to state and that is the egg custards. It’s usually hit or miss at bakeries and this one is a miss. The reason why is because they bake the soft crusted egg custards instead of the crispy flaked egg custards. I’m not a fan of the soft crusted ones at all. It’s just an FYI for anyone who wants to visit the bakery and is a huge fan of egg custards like I am!

More like 3.5. Very good Chinese bakery but nothing that blows my pants off. It is literally 2 steps off the train, PLUS. The Chinese workers really try with the English. But many words are not necessary. Most bakery items are around 80cents to 1.25. They have sandwiches and they post the time at which they were made so you know how old they are. Unlike Chinatown in Manhattan, they actually ask you if you want cream and sugar in your coffee. Prices are right, there’s places to sit, and service is fast. I’ve pretty much liked every bun that i’ve tried here.

Ka Ka is anything BUT caca. The pastries are delicious, and you can’t beat 3 tea eggs for $ 1. While Good Family Bakery down the street has much better steamed pork buns, they don’t translate half of the items on the menu. Not only does Ka Ka do a great job of translation, but the staff is also friendly and willing to explain anything you’re unfamiliar with. Two words: Jumbo sandwich. Just try it. $ 2, and get it early in the morning when it’s freshly made. It’s sort of a Monte Cristo to go.

After a long day on the train, and I have nothing to do but to wait for someone to pick me up from the train, this place has served as a haven… with almond tea and Chinese pastries that I have no idea what they are, but they are delicious. Coming here during rush hours is a big no-no…the selection will be minimal, and don’t expect there to be any sort of order — like a line to wait on to order and pay. Again, gotta speak up and voice yourself or you’ll be screwed on that sponge cake that you saw. Bathroom is a bit on the gross side, but great to sit inside and watch whatever Chinese soap opera is on… I love making up the dialogue lol.
