*Did this bakery make a new Unilocal???* I’ve been coming to this bakery way before they started the half candy lotto section. They used to have a lot more chairs for customers and not just regulars hanging out, thats for sure. Since I’ve been coming here for the past ten years, I’m somewhat a regular. Always would get their sandwiches or something. Pizza bun is one of my choices, and ham and corn bun as well. The ladies working here are generally nice, since they’ve been here for ten plus years. I haven’t seen the three that I used to see recently, and I’ve only encountered the boss, or manager– she’s not as friendly): I’ve watched their prices go up, which makes me really sad because my income hasn’t gone up, and I moved away but I do come here whenever I’m near by. I personally dont like the lotto and snacks side they added to the store– mainly because there’s a deli with that two stores away and its unfair to the deli cause I used to always go there too.

Top 5 reasons you know this is an Asian bakery 1) you have at least three Asian women in there mid 40’s running the front each with their own disposition(you hope you don’t get the mean one). 2) there are old Asian folks hanging out with their newspaper and small coffee from morning till noon. 3) i’ve never seen him but the person in the back making the buns is probably a dude. 4)They’re slow as shit when putting together your order. Why you ask? see reason 5 5 They have a quick pick machine /lotto /scratches. Buns and their small selection of dim sum aren’t the best quality but it gets the job done. Plus it’s close to the train station. There also seem to be that one lady that i always get when ordering. She’s the one that always seems to be more interested in the quick pick than taking my order. I can’t blame her, she’s got the gambling blood. just give me my damn coffee first!!!

Taro bun was awesome. After having my first tea with taro, I’m a little obsessed. Oops. Great egg custards(tarts?). Prices actually seemed a bit high. $ 1.10 buns? I’ve never paid more than $.80. Too frugal? The place is a bit of a circus, packed with locals and commuters, ladies handing you trays and tongs to pick your poison.

It’s a Chinese bakery with a small grocery/candy section and it has a monopoly on Neck Road. Nothing special; meets the needs of the neighborhood. Can sit down, drink a coffee, grab a snack, a Chinese newspaper and run. They have an all right selection of buns. Wish they had more dim sum, but probably be a money loser for them. Ladies running the counter can seem curt at times but they are generally nice. Pros: Conveniently close to train station, cheap, good iced drinks, mostly decent buns. Roast Pork buns are yummy here. Cons: the beef noodle has too much noodle and the ham and egg bun is quite watered down.
