Description

Specialties

Come visit my storefront/studio space and see my unique artwork. Keep in mind that I am open by appointment and by luck. I am known for my realistic and fictitious portraitures in which I paint my subjects with their favorite object or theme on top of their heads. Clients can request specific places or backgrounds they want represented in their portrait. You can view my work at my studio and at various outdoor markets and art fairs.

Monoprints are my bread and butter. I’ve been selling them at outdoor markets and art fairs for years. Most of my monoprints feature fictitious subjects – dogs and cats, rabbis, kings and queens. I’m often commissioned to create specialized images for people, or to re-create some of my favorite images using specific colors or backgrounds.

Silkscreen prints are individually silkscreened on paper then afterwards I hand paint each one differently. This makes each one an original piece. Limited Edition Prints are offered in small, limited quantities on high-quality, archival paper using archival ink. Each print retains a generous border that allows for easy framing. I sign, title and number each print to ensure its enduring value.

History

Established in 1986.

I am a portrait painter. My work ranges from the fanciful to the classically realistic. I can trace my painting career back to a «forehead» cartoon (a self portrait from the eyes up) that I created in Boston in 1986. I’ve been doing variations of this ever since.

Whether I’m painting a fraction or an entire face of a fictitious or realistic character, and whether or not there is something on top of my subject’s head, what remains consistent is my interest in creating an arresting image.

I’m 49 and a Washington, D.C. native. I went to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Emerson College. I’ve had one-man portrait shows all over the world including Washington, D.C., Provincetown MA, Boston, New Orleans, New York, Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Tel Aviv, and Prague.

Since 2000, I have essentially been making art and selling it out of this studio/storefront space at 285 5th Ave in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I get great pleasure selling my work directly to the public.
