I’m visiting from LA and just walked down to this place to get a fresh juice made with a friend. I stood at the counter for a few minutes. No big deal… A few employees walked by and I finally asked if someone could help me.
Finally a young woman walked up with an attitude. We must of interrupted her FaceTime or snapchat session so she walked behind my friend and threw her hands up behind her not knowing we were together. I would never wanna drink a juice made by this woman and her bad energy. First and last time in this place. Too bad because it could have potential to be a cute neighborhood spot but they really need to evaluate the type of employees they have working for them.

I LOVE this place!!! Has a small family feel, but has everything you could want in a grocery store. The BEST produce, all the meat is sourced with no hormones/​antibiotics and all grass fed. Fantastic cheese and beer selection! There is even a gluten free and vegan section. Fresh organic juices/​smoothies made to order, and deli, butcher and hot meals to go.

Fresh Fanatic is great. Fresh, good for a fanatic, or a not-​so fanatic like me who just wants a good selection of ingredients, prepared foods, produce, meat & deli, coffee/​smoothie/​juice. they’ve got everything you need, and you can rest fairly sure that the products are from organic, often responsible companies with good reputations. Glad to have stumbled across this Gem.
Also, I spent more than $ 200 so got free wine, a spa day pass and big smiles from the super cute female staff in the front.
P. S. somehow they also have great music always playing.
This is my supermarket, PERIOD.

Very small, very expensive. Trying hard to be whole foods, but it’s really nothing special. Only plus is that they sell wine, so you can pick up a bottle while shopping for your groceries.

Nice food and craft/​local beer selection. There is a deli and seafood. They have «chiapod» here, which is one of the strangest things I’ve ever eaten.

Wow. Delicious hummus. Spicy hummus. Olive hummus. The wild rice with pecans delicious. The sweet potatoes and carrots were fabulous. The tomato soup with coconut milk and tarragon were awesome. Fabulous food for picnics and gatherings. Let them prepare all the appetizers for you.

Awesome spot to find fresh organic produce, staff is always helpful, and they have a discount on fish on Fridays. Nice selection of beer and wine too.

Pretty nice grocery store with a couple of issues that should be easily fixed.
The Good:
Kind of like a smaller, more independent version of Fairway
They have a nice source of «natural» chicken
Good bottled and canned beer selection — especially local brews like Kelso and Brooklyn Brewery
Good stock of locally roasted coffee. Stumptown Coffee, Brooklyn Roasters, Equal Exchange Coffees (probably not local actually but still good) — most with a «roasted on» date. Checked out a bag that was roasted 5 days ago. Can’t beat that.
The Disappointing:
The Growler Fill Station — Go to the deli section and they have a growler fill station with about 6 taps. When I went one of the taps was out of commission. So maybe 5 beers to choose from — that’s fine. The great thing is that almost all of them are NYS brewery’s beers. While I like variety, out of state beer, and imports, I can’t say no to a beer that was literally brewed less than a mile away. So…
I asked for a growler (½ gallon) of Kelso IPA. Server put a tube on the tap, pulled the tap, and proceeded to poor out liters of foam from the beer. What’s in that foam? Carbonation that is being released into the atmosphere. She said something about the place being under renovation and that the beer has been pouring like this for a while now. What? I was about to say just forget it, but I gave it a chance. Big mistake.
The result was that when I got home 15 minutes later, the beer was already flat. A completely still IPA, kind of like an IPA wine. It’s too bad, because Clinton Hill could use a good growler filling place. It just seems that the beer for growlers is an afterthought for this place and that you would be better off going to the specialists to fill up your growlers.
The price of growlers is competitive enough that I would give here another try in few months after they are finished renovating. I hope it’s better next time.

If I lived here instead of just visiting a friend I would shop here.

Just a few minutes from the Brooklyn Navy Yard its Fresh Fanatic!
They seem to have a decent produce and meat sections. The smoothie bar offers a very wide variety of healthy options to cater to all tastes/​diets. I don’t think I’ve ever seen quite so many milk or milk substitutes listed as options at once. (Milk, Skim Milk, Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Rice Milk, etc…)
They also have a great selection of beers from the local breweries on tap. Seems like a great place to bring your growler to for a fill up.
The actual location itself is primo, and the interior is well organized and well decorated. The employees however could be a little more enthusiastic. The guy preparing the smoothies and the girl behind the register were both clearly in a bad mood. They weren’t rude, but it is a little strange.
In any case, I will come here again.

God I love this place. It’s about two blocks from me and I now cannot ever move because I can’t give it up! It’s a small store and if there was anything to complain about, it would be that the smallness does limit their selection in some ways; but I for one kind of like having less choices. Especially when the choices left in front of you are all good ones. As other reviewers have noted, this is not a place to go to stock up on paper towels or buy drain cleaner. They have some of those household staples, but this is mainly a very good food store.
I love popping in to grab fresh produce, they always have such a good selection, and I love their butcher, cheese counter, fishmonger, and bakery. They are all small, but well stocked and well executed. I’ve actually stopped buying fresh meat anywhere else, and only get my fresh mozzarella there. They have a wonderful focus on healthy and organic offerings without making those offerings boring or ordinary. What I love most of all though, are their prepared food options. In the winter, I swear their Turkey Chili was the best I’ve ever had, and their vegan bean soup left me craving it. But what I’m always wanting an excuse to visit is their sandwich counter. Holy Cow it’s good! It’s so good that it is a current craving for their sandwiches that has lead me to write this review. There is such a wide me creative variety, but my current favorite is the golden chicken, which is sliced chicken with goat cheese, aioli, big fresh slices of tomato and crunchy greens on ciabatta bread. It’s such a good balance of creamy herb, meaty, and fresh juiciness. I want to eat it all the time. And since it’s about $ 7 for a sandwich that could feed two people, I can.
Their overall prices are pretty reasonable and their staff has always been lovely, bright and helpful to me, even at times when I was less than decisive or capable.
Be warned, once you taste the deliciousness, and shop the charming goodness of this little store, you will be forced to live nearby forever too.

I really, really, really want to like this place. It’s right by my gym, a couple blocks from my place. I don’t want to buy my groceries from an online store and have them delivered. I like the idea of buying local food from a local store. My parents are farmers who make their bread and butter selling to similar places (and doing farmers’ markets), so, seriously, I want to like this place…
But I bought spoiled meat from there AGAIN last week. Two free range local chickens that smelled like death a day after I brought them home and put them in my very cold fridge.
A month or so prior, I had the same problem with some sausage. I called the store to warn them to take it off the shelves. They did. I took it back and was given a refund, but apparently the problem hasn’t been solved. This time I didn’t bother to take back the chickens, because I’m so disgusted that this happened again I don’t know if I’ll ever set foot in the place again. It ruined what was going to be a perfectly nice dinner party…
Also, whenever I have gone to the butcher counter, I have never actually been served — no one is there. Or they are running around doing something non-​customer related. So I end up getting what’s in the cooler… which has NOT been a winning strategy for me. Boo. Too bad. FreshDirect, here I come…

I’m super glad this place is near me, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here.
They have an ok selection of produce, dairy, and meats, as well as beer and some prepared foods. I usually get my produce from Mr. Coco’s up the street, and my dry goods from monthly trips to some larger supermarket, but Fresh Fanatic makes up for everything in between. However, I’ve found the fish and meat to be a bit chancy. They often have «managers specials» on the meat — which I don’t hesitate to buy, if I know I’m going to cook it that night, but it does make me question whether they work in volumes high enough to keep their stock fresh. Also, they have other specials every day of the week, which is great — but it often seems like the employees have no idea what’s going on. More than once I’ve had to convince the fish counter or the cashier to honor whatever deal they were advertising for that day.
In any case, I’m going to keep going there and would suggest it as a staple for anybody else in the neighborhood, but I’m hoping that as their clientele increases they work a bit harder to keep their products fresh and their employees in the loop.

Love Fresh Fanatic, it’s where I get everything that I can’t from the farmer’s markets.
The produce is always fresh and reasonably priced. The dairy section is great, lots of options for butter, cottage cheese, milks, etc.
The beer selection isn’t too bad either, but sometimes it seems like they’re slightly behind on seasonal brews.
They’ve got a good variety of high priced niche goods (think: Justin’s almond butter, specialty honeys) and the garden variety brands (think: Jif, honey bears).
They don’t have the widest variety of dried goods, but they’ve almost always got whatever you need.
All in all, my go to grocery store =)

I came in here expecting a shit show, to be completely honest. The outside screams, «We’re trying so hard! Please love us!» so I walked in, just to see what kind of store could make people fanatics of freshness.
The store was smaller than I expected — or rather, packed by the square foot with products. Literally, I was worried of turning swiftly in excitement and knocking some stuff over. The baked good and deli/​lunch/​breakfast section looked awesome and those are also the only employees who acknowledged my presence. Cool. I also spotted some craft beer and my favorite Sam Adams Octoberfest. Game over.
Overall, I like it here. Next time, I’m getting a few store made cookies and bringing them to work. I don’t even care. The food stores near the Navy Yard suck.

Get their cookies. The store baked ones. Sure, cookies cancel out all the organic produce you just bought, but so what. These are good, good, good.

Pretty decent little grocery store. Slightly better selection of produce than the average grocery store, but much better quality. They sell lots of local and organic produce as well as conventional. They apparently have a farm stand here on Wednesdays, but I’ve never visited. The price point for produce can be a little high… I feel like I pay slightly more than I pay at the farmer’s market, but it’s nothing crazy.
In addition to produce they also have a decent bulk section (nuts, seeds, dried goods), and deli, and a seemingly decent cheese counter. The meat section is small… The meat I’ve purchased was fine. I have purchased fish a few times and it wasn’t super fresh. It was edible… just not the freshest. The guy behind the first counter is super sweet and always reminds me that fish is 30% off on Fridays.:-)
The «grocery» section is okay… it’s a small store, so if you’re trying to buy non-​perishables for a family of 5, you may want to go to Pathmark. If you’re trying to buy a few things then you’ll do okay here.
People seem to have issues with the prepared foods and the customer service… I’ve never gotten prepared foods, so I can’t comment on that. The folks who work here aren’t the smiley-​ist but who is in NYC? In general, I always find what I need here and it’s nice to have on my way home from work.

Fresh food and large selection of organic foods. There is always free parking under the BQE. They sell Michael Allen’s pastries– so yum!

Fresh Fanatic: You got me all FANATIC!
Not just about organic food, and the scrumptious gluten-​free freshly baked options that you offer, but also about the unique, awesome option you offer us, the health nuts, to shop in a place that looks clean and modern, and that attracts a shopping audience that is still cool and sexy enough to flirt around with a bit, and the owner looks like a good catch himself…
But ahem…: Back to Fresh Fanatic.
I happened to be passing by through the area, and stumbled upon FF. I loved the layout of the store, and I have never in my life seen such a top notch display of beautiful fresh fruits and vegetables as in Fresh Fanatic. Pleasant music in the background, a good selection of many different products, employees in each section going out of their way to let me sample new products (and boy, do I take them for a ride sometimes!) and although I am a nurse, and very keen on safe handling of food and produce, and infection prevention, I felt that the protocols of food handling and storage were very safe here. I loved the fact that they offered homemade hummus and guacamole. I took some home and it was delish!
For you guys that are lucky enough to drive cars: There is a parking lot with plenty of parking space right at the doorstep of the supermarket. I seriously wish I lived right next door to this place instead of on the UWS in Manhattan, or else I would be a regular guest at this little piece of heaven.
