I love this place because it seems like they are ALWAYS open. Seriously, they might be ²⁴⁄₇. Its great for cheap produce but I suggest consuming it fast — There have been times where I bought fruit or veggies that literally started turning bad the very next day. But that’s the thing, you go here when you just need one pepper or one onion real quick to make whatever you are making for dinner.
I’ve also had days where I went in and spent like 30 bucks on groceries to get me through the week because for such a small space, they have everything from english muffins, juice and coffee, to pasta sauce, veggies, frozen options, and chocolate. They also have a great selection of ice cream, beer, and all the typical bodega necessities like handsoap, toilet paper, paper towels, and batteries. They do have a credit card minimum, but who cares when they have everything you need?
Avoid rush hour. Too many hipster commuters with special requests and arguing over already cheap prices. Lines get long quick!

A little Whole Foods condensed into the form of a 24 hour convenience store, except better prices on produce!
You can find almost everything you need in here, the variety is incredible: Frozen veggie organic meals, kimchi, nut-​based milks, chips, organic canned/​shelved products, ready-​to-​eat vegan sushi and dumplings, are just a few to name!
What a dream amongst all other usual liquor store convenience stores.

Listen up MFers… Mr Coco has that bodega/​fresh veggie/​organic thing locked down! Crazy deals at the front of the store! Did I just buy two baby head sized Honeycrisp apples for a buck? You’re darned right I did! Blueberries are two bucks cheaper than stupid Compare or Associated (seriously, the nerve of charging 5 bucks for a little dinky container of blueberries. the nerve!) so I’ll snap those up sometimes with whatever other dollar dealz they have! I go to Fort Greene park for my morning exercise/​phys therapy, you might catch me on the pullup bar, I just hang there though kind of, no time to explain, it’s all very weird and cause I have chronic effed up health issues that I constantly fight so thank not god for Mr. Coco, cause they have that fresh fresh that I need to be healthy!

they have clubmate and it’s the best drink ever. if you haven’t heard about it yet, Google it. it’s caffeinated and better than coffee.

One of the best fresh produce local, small store. Their products are all so fresh and super cheap. I cant imagine getting these quality fruit and veggie elsewhere close to the price they offer. Well staffed. Cannot ask for more from this store.

Mr. Coco’s is terrific because they sell fresh produce incredibly cheaply. That’s basically it. The store is a bit on the small side, and when it’s crowded (and it’s often crowded) it can be difficult to move around, but it’s still worth it because of the quality and price of their fruits and vegetables.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood and shopped at this story for 3 and half years. I’ve had a great rapport with the various employees that work there. So I was extremely disappointed when was followed around by an employee. He was blatantly repositioning himself and looking at me every time I looked up. When I politely asked him why he was being so attentive, he had no response. I find it extremely suspect that a community grocer such as this would treat members of the community this way.

How do they do it. 2LB of strawberries $ 1.99. Pears 5 for a dollar. $ 1 blackberries. Sometime you can get organic produce at great prices. Best deals in produce. Love the beer selection. the prices on single bottles can not be beat. They make there own sushi. A little store with a huge selection of useful stuff.

I realized that I’ve become a «real» New Yorker because I just thought to myself the other day, «well if the corner store doesn’t have it, I probably don’t really need it.» Good thing Mr. Coco is my corner store!
The store is consistently well stocked with lots of fresh items and the most reasonably priced produce in the area, but more importantly I have experienced a much higher level of customer service there then in almost any other bodega I’ve frequented. For example, I recently went there in kind of a time crunch and was hoping to find butternut squash that was pre-​peeled and diced. They only had whole squash on the Shelves, but when I mentioned what I was looking for, one of the stockists took the squash in back and peeled and diced for me! Those mofos are not easy to prepare. I was surprised by and grateful for that level of service.
My only complaint is that, because the limited shelf space is devoted to «fancy» and organic products, they don’t really have some of the kitchen staples that I would love to be able to grab quickly, like mainstream cereal brands, etc. Call me crazy, but I think more people desire Cheerios than pink Himalayan salt.

When I think of NYC bodegas, I often think of this spot. It’s the quintessential bodega you want everywhere in the city. It’s clean, has lots of different life necessities (including the more deluxe, expensive items), and even includes a small, well-​priced produce area.
The people who work here are very nice, and I’ve never not found what I was looking for. Seriously. I think all of life’s needs can be found here.

Cheap Produce. Long but fast lines. and right across the street from my apartment so when ever I need an onion. Some greens or fruits it’s easily accessible. Oh and everything is fresh and not wilted.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MS. KELLY???
I love Mr. Coco’s because they stay open all night and they’ve been in the neighborhood like forever. I’m from Brooklyn I love something to remain the same. Ms. Kelly was my favorite. She always knew what I wanted even when I forgot to get it she would remind me…“don’t you need Peppermint soap?” and I’m all like «yes Ms. Kelly, you’re right!» then I’d go get it.
Bring back Ms. Kelly or I’ll come in there and just reek of stink sweat from the gym and then what’s gonna happen???

Because I pass by this place pretty much every day, I usually only buy the super cheap produce on an as-​needed basis — and everything works out fine. Also, they have un-​labeled fig bars above the ice cream freezer that are seriously delicious.

The reason there are often lines here is that they have Super Cheap Produce. I mean like $ 2 blueberries and $ 1 strawberries. You can usually go by and find 2 – 3 things that are so cheap it is shocking. I do try to eat my strawberries quickly because they don’t have a long shelf life. But, it is worth it if you eat your fruits and veggies quickly.
They also have a great array of cookies and things like pita and lentil chips. The chocolate dipped macaroons are heavenly. Nice selection of specialty items like little pickles and capers, nice cheeses and canned organic soups.
They even have a sushi chef on staff who makes fresh sushi all day!

And I will be the first to admit that they do have good prices for fruits and veggies.
But once you get them home they start to rot within a day or 2.
The organic fruits and veggies I buy from other places in the area hold up twice as long.
I was told that the reason the can sell stuff so cheap is because they buy stuff that is about to go bad.
Also I find the staff (stockers) very rude and had one run me over with his hand truck and acted like a total douche after he hit me and did not even say sorry.
This place is an accident waiting to happen with boxes everywhere and you have to crawl over things and staff just to get something off the shelf.

Mr. Coco has all of the specialty, organic, vegan and related food products you might need, and for a pretty decent price. Their produce is always competitively priced and looks great — that’s what I mainly come for. This location is a bit tight and small, which isn’t the best for larger bodied people and differently abled people. I noticed this when a really tall gentleman had to squeeze his way through the aisles and an older woman with a walker had the hardest time near the cashier, with all the boxes and random product on the floor. My only suggestion would be to make the tiny grocery more accessible for these folks who want healthy food too! Otherwise, Mr. Coco is solid!
