Our son has attended Chai Tots daycare for 5 months, and we are really happy with it. The daycare is run by a Jewish outreach organization with the aim of giving positive Jewish experiences to Jewish kids, and it’s closed on Jewish holidays(8 days in September/October, a week for Passover, etc.), so it’s not aimed at the general population, but it’s an excellent option for those who are interested in that. The teachers are warm and kind, a big contrast with our earlier daycare. The ratios are also good, with more teachers than is required by law. They allow part-time: drop off at 8 – 9 and a few pick-up options. The teachers are young, maybe 20 years old, working before getting married. Many of the teachers have experience from having younger siblings, so they like and are good with kids, and they really seem to enjoy it. The director’s twins are in my son’s class in the daycare, and she spends lots of time in the classroom with all the kids. They have an outdoor play area with tiny playground equipment, and they go outside frequently, and they do different activities like bringing out a baby pool in the summer, playing with things with different textures, and some activities that I would never think to do with babies, like painting. The babies and toddlers also do some activities with the kids in the pre-school that also meets there, like making challah.
