History

Established in 1956.

Today, Brooklyn Heights Dental® is only about three miles from where Dr. Eugene D. Stanislaus’ father, Dr. Lamuel Stanislaus, started the family business in 1956. When Dr. Lamuel Stanislaus practiced, he was not only a caring and compassionate community dentist, but also an active and influential member of the community in other ways. As one of the founding members of the West Indian Day Parade, Dr. Lamuel Stanislaus saw the event move from its more humble beginnings to what it is today — a festival attended by millions on Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway. After handing over the practice to his son, Eugene, Dr. Lamuel Stanislaus’ retirement has not been without excitement. He is the former representative of his native country Grenada as Ambassador at Large to the United Nations. After all these years, Brooklyn Heights Dental® is still providing personalized family dental care and cosmetic dentistry to patients from Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, Park Slope, and other areas across New York.

As a highly regarded cosmetic and restorative dentist serving Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, and all of New York City, Dr. Eugene D. Stanislaus has a wealth of expertise in the areas of dental implants, gum surgery, root canal therapy, and a wide range of other general dentistry, restorative dentistry, and cosmetic dentistry treatments.

Dr. Stanislaus received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in 1984. He continued his education and training by completing a one year general practice residency at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. In 1985 he acquired the dental practice then operated by his father, Dr. Lamuel Stanislaus, who retired the same year.

Of all the dentists, doctors, physicians, and health care professionals I’ve been to, I’ve never had the pleasure of being helped by a more personable and professional individual than Dr. Reid.
As a patient of hers over the last two years, Dr. Reid is someone who continues to make an otherwise unpleasant procedure a comfortable and relaxing experience. Her manner is always so cheerful, and you can tell she genuinely and truly cares about her patients — which shows upon any return visit when she is able to easily recall whatever bedside banter you might have shared months ago.
Aside from her friendly personality, Dr. Reid and her team have been more than flexible in working with my insurance and payment plans.
If you are looking for a dentist, do not for one moment hesitate to see Dr. Reid and her team for any dental cleaning or work you may have.

I having been going to Brooklyn Heights Dental for years now and I have always been greeted with pleasant smiles and great service! From cleanings and whitenings to fillings and a root canal, my experience at BHD has always been great! The entire staff is very knowledgable and always makes me feel comfortable.
I never was a fan of going to the dentist growing up but after going to BHD, that changed! Dr. Stanislaus strives to make all of patients feel comfortable and he greets everyone of them upon arrival as well which I truly do appreciate. They just moved to a great new office as well!
I am very happy I started going to BHD, everyone should definitely go and see what all the hype is about! :)

I fell on my face and chipped one of my front teeth. I was absolutely devastated and terrified that I would always look like a hillbilly. I found BHD on google when I searched «best cosmetic dentist in Brooklyn». I had got recommendations to other dentists but their Unilocal reviews were questionable. I am so happy I ended up going to BHD! I was a little worried that they didn’t have many reviews and feared I didn’t have enough information to go on, but decided to book an appointment anyways. Fortunately I was able to get an appointment for two days after I called. I was so excited that I would possibly be able to get it done before Thanksgiving. When I got there I waited for 35 minutes. But that’s really nothing compared to other doctors offices I go to as a new patient. There were some forms I needed to fill out, obviously. The receptionists were attentive and apologized for the wait. When I got into the office with Dr. Reid, she told me that she would be able to do it right then. It would be a ‘simple bonding and no need for numbing’. She quoted 400 $ for the bonding… Which was a lot less than I thought it would have been. I agree out of my dental insurance so that also included and X-​ray. She also didn’t charge for the consultation and just charged for the work. The bonding took less than 30 minutes! And there was no pain! I am so happy that I found this place. My mother went with me and wants to make an appointment for herself there. We also promised to tell everyone we know.
I am not the type to be afraid of the dentist and don’t really mind it. But I was a wreck about my tooth and was terrified that it would never look the same. I am so happy to say that it does! This place is TOP NOTCH!

When you move from a different city, there’s a lot of things you gotta do. Find your local cinema, your local pizza, figure out how to get around etc… Then you have to be responsible and figure out who’s gonna take care of your health. That’s easier said than done.
But man we lucked out in terms of finding a dentist. Dr. Stanislaus and his team are fantastic! So kind, so thoughtful, so dialed in. I feel safe and taken care of and couldn’t be more grateful for having this practice in the neighborhood! As you know, I’m more of a restaurant reviewer on Unilocal but I had to get on here and give Dr. Stanislaus and his team their due props.
Bottom line: If you’re looking for a dental practice to take care of you, this is the spot!

Dr. Stanislaus and Dr. Reid are great! They’re knowledgable, very kind, and I appreciate the fact that don’t try to up sell you (that’s a story for another review.)
They’re always on time. And It doesn’t take 2 months to get an appointment.
No one likes going to the dentist but they make going to the dentist less painful.
Their new office is an upgrade as well.
Now hurry up and get your teeth cleaned before they rot out and you scare all the children.

Dr. Eugene Stanislaus has been my dentist for the past four years. He has always provided exceptional service to myself and my family. He is kind, caring and has his patients best interest at heart. The staff at Brooklyn Heights Dental makes the experience at the dentist very relaxing. They are professional, kind, friendly and always willing to help. The dental hygenist not only provides great dental cleanings but is able to explain areas in which I can do better as far as brushing and flossing. She is very adamant about showing her patients the correct way to brush and floss. I could not be more pleased with all of the services provided at Brooklyn Heights Dental and I recommend this practice to anyone who is looking for exceptional dental service!

This review is way overdue !! I have been living in Brooklyn for 10 years and JUST found Brooklyn Heights Dental about a year ago and I couldn’t be happier !
Dr. Reid is just fantastic ! She is caring, takes her time explaining in detail (and in layman’s terms) my treatment, is gentle (I.E NO PAIN) and funny to boot!
The dental hygienists are knowledgeable, personable and give excellent, thorough cleanings.
And Maryanne who deals w the finances and insurance is fantastic! She handles all
correspondence with my insurance company (so I don’t have to!) and is always so clear and accurate in what my insurance will and will not cover. She is VERY on of it and always gives me a courtesy call
Before my appts to remind me.
Some other person who reviewed Brooklyn Heights Dental said they were overpriced. NOT TRUE!!! They are extremely reasonable in prices .
Finding a good dentist is almost as important as finding a good partner, if not more! I wouldn’t go anywhere else !!

Love these guys! Found them when I needed major cosmetic work for my wedding and Lisa Reid was fabulous! She has an excellent bedside manner and answered all my questions thoroughly. They were fabulous at working with me since I don’t have dental insurance. And doesn’t push additional procedures on me, but she is honest about «how long» I should go without certain things. I recommend her to all my friends. Minimal to no wait time in this office. BTW: My smile always gets compliments! Some of my friends have similar work and mine is the nicest! (thats what they all say!!!)

I recently had a impacted wisdom tooth removed by Dr. Stanislaus. I must say I was extremely nervous and anxious until I was completely under his care and supervision. Dr. Stanislaus is caring, gentle, extremely personable, and most importantly provides EXCEPTIONAL dentistry.
I have already recommended Dr. Stanislaus to all of my family members, co-​workers and even healthcare providers.

My dentist of choice for the past 2 years. Dr. Lisa Reid has an excellent bedside manner and is a caring person. She will answer all of my questions and I don’t feel that she is running out of the room to get to another patient. I really like the hygienist Guiselle, who gets my teeth super clean with minimal pain.
What I also Love about this office is that they do not overbook! I am so sick of waiting hours when I have an appointment already. From my experience there is never more than 1 – 2 people in the lobby and you are in and out.
Their technology is top notch. I filled out a short survey on an iPad the first time I went, and now I get emails and text alerts to remind me of my scheduled appts.

Great people, but way overpriced. Don’t even waste your time if you don’t have insurance. $ 175 for a cleaning and x-​rays?! You can have the same service done for $ 10 at a dental school or clinic. I went in for a consultation for a crown or veneer. $ 1,650 for a crown…$ 800 extra for a post?! Also, paid $ 95 for one x-​ray of one tooth and the experience of feeling like a total burden to the doctor, himself. They told me it could be applied to the total cost of the crown/​post procedure. Ha! I call that getting swindled and.“pimped”. Check out ‘A-​Z Dental’ if you need affordable dental care. This place is crazy expensive.

I actually look forward to dental appointments after getting to know Dr. Stanislaus and his dream team of super kind employees.
Gisselle will give your teeth the most thorough, deep clean in all of NY. The front desk will greet you with smiles. Dr. Stanislaus will not only take the time to get to know you and your pearly whites but he’ll go to the extent of writing personalized birthday cards and thank you notes. I can’t recommend this place more.

Dr steinalaus and dr Reid are fantastic. My family goes here for all our dental needs. They are clearly the best at what they do, and actually care about your health and teeth. The only complaint is that I’ve experienced quite a bit of pain through many procedures and cleaning by the hygienist, this was mirrored by my partner. I was a bit shocked no pain meds were offered when i received 9 stitches and over an hr surgery. However, the good dr took care of that once i called the next day. He even called me, 3x on a weekend, to check on my recovery! I really enjoy the entire team, professional, friendly and highly recommended.
