Great guy! Great plumber! Jim is smart, funny and reasonable. He solves all plumbing problems in a timely manner and does what he says he will. He’s been our plumber more than 20 years.

Called early am, they answered and scheduled the only time that worked for me.
Fixed everything in moments and I was very happy! Thank you!

I’m not the kind of person who normally writes Unilocal reviews, but I had to in this case. The short story: I’ve been paying way too much to the «rooter» services to take care of plumbing issues and after a particularly huge bill for something that should have taken little time and effort I gave up on being ripped off and searched for the Real Deal.
I found it in The Plumber.
It’s just a handful of guys from Boulder Creek, but they’re the guys you want – experienced, responsive, and reasonably priced. We had a leak under our driveway that the rooter guys said would cost *thousands* to deal with. James and Steve came over, dealt with the problem in a couple of hours, and charged us well under a thousand for the work. While on the job we pointed out a couple of other issues we wanted to deal with – redoing the shutoff valve to the house and some leaking faucets – and within a week they were back, did what needed doing, and charged us a perfectly reasonable price.
These guys don’t have the fancy painted trucks, the little blue booties, the clipboards, or the «loyalty plans” – the stuff that looks good, but is designed to drain your wallet as well as your pipes. Instead, they offer competent service. What more could you ask for?

This guy is the real deal. He will call you back and take care of the problem. Just moved into my house and had a few foibles… he snaked my septic pipe and took care of another blockage. His rates are good and he gave me a bunch of good advice about other items around my house. Jim is the man!

These gents are terrific. A screw in a pipe that was too shallow in the wall, sent water everywhere. We called, they were there within the hour, and done with the entire repair in less than that. Clean, efficient, thorough! Anyone in need… Jim THE PLUMBER is your guy.

James is a very experienced plumber and a great guy. I hired him to fix a leaking toilet that my usual plumber couldn’t get right. James had it taken care of in 30 minutes and did an overall inspection of my other facilities as well. He explained everything in detail — including his recommendations — and encouraged me to watch him work so I could understand how my toilet worked. I know that sounds less than thrilling, but as a fairly new homeowner, it was INVALUABLE. I will never hire anybody else!

James is a godsend! Where other plumbers had told me I would have to wait two months, this man was at my house in ten minutes to fix a broken pipe under the deck. His work is meticulous and he even went out of his way to get the last remaining insulation available in Santa Cruz county. Oh and he picked up a new toilet too, and had it installed in less than an hour. HIs prices are very reasonable. Super nice guy, hardworking and honest. We will never call anyone else for plumbing needs.

James and team are wonderful. He shows up when he says, returns phone calls, sticks to estimates when possible and doesn’t over charge. He has a huge amount of plumbing knowledge and experience and will point out things that could cause potential problems. He will save you money when he can without doing an inferior job just to cut costs. Whatever your problem, it will be done right. He’s my go to guy.

Yes, James the plumber is great! Local guy. He has done my septic clogs for many years. Very reliable. I have had him come when nobody is home, do the job, leave a bill, I mail him a check. Of course he knows where I live! — — — — — — — [4/​13/​11: He recently installed a new water heater and told me where to get one myself so I did not have to pay him to fetch it. There was a very minor problem with the installation and when I called him I told him no rush, anytime this week to fix it. He was there the next day fussing and highly apologetic. It was obvious that the imperfection bothered him more than it bothered me.]

Jim Gullo is The Plumber. Thank goodness. He not only returns phone calls, he shows up on time, will tell you exactly what needs to be done, does it and cleans up after himself. The work is excellent, no need to call him back two or three times. If it’s something he can’t do, he’ll be honest and let you know, rather than trying to fake it and do a half-​assed job. Highly recommended!
