At James Eno Tutorials we provide test-​preparation services for the SAT, ACT, PSAT, ISEE, SSAT, HSPT and SAT subject tests. We help students reach their goals and gain admission to the colleges and universities of their choice.

We provide In-​home or office-​based instruction for individual students or small groups (up to three students).

History

Established in 2007.

James Eno Tutorials was founded with the goal of providing the highest-​quality private tutoring services throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to our test prep services, we also offer single subject tutoring at the middle and high school level.

Our tutors are selected from among the top applicants in the San Francisco Bay Area. All are graduates of four-​year universities.

My daughter received ACT tutoring from James himself and another tutor named Juhi. They were both excellent. I was skeptical about investing my daughters time and our money on test tutoring, but the results were well worth it! James and his tutors are top notch and very up to date on all the nuisances about the test, test taking strategies. They quickly identified areas of strengths and weaknesses in my daughter and were incredibly patient and supportive. Her composite score went up 5 points from her initial test she took before tutoring and she scored extremely high on the essay. Can’t recommend James and his tutors enough!

Now that all the hub-​bub has died down around college applications I can reflect on the better parts of the process. James and his team were one of them. He gave us very good advice about SAT vs ACT testing, he provided us with names of other recommended tutors when his were not available and went the extra mile in providing test papers outside of the usual office hours. Recommend James et al. without reservation. (Will be sending out next child to him later this year.)

I must admit I was a bit skeptical when my daughter requested a private tutor for SAT prep. She’s a good student, has a very busy schedule already, and I figured she could just do a free practice test and be fine.
But I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and quality of James Eno and his staff. They do a great job of quickly getting to know the student, identifying improvement areas, and drilling on specific sections of the test.
We only had time for a few sessions between the late January and early March SAT but my daughter’s scores improved on each section and by 160 points overall — a wise investment of time and $.

We used James Eno’s tutorials (with Rachel Ranney as tutor) to prepare our child for the ISEE high school entrance exam. It wasn’t a controlled experiment, of course, so I can’t know what difference their services made, as against continuing on with our own preparation. But I can say that both James and Rachel were completely professional, pleasant, and serious about the test preparation, and our child’s scores rose significantly between the beginning of the tutoring and the actual exam. I think the rates are normal for the area, and for the business, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.
