Total pompous attitude from the owner. I was bringing by a pair of (1948) cool mid century nightstands in great condition, I was told they would sell for $ 99 (the pair) and I would get $ 25 each. As if… !
I can’t explain how his snobby attitude soured me more than the lowball price he was offering.
Even my daughter commented on his ***hole tone.

Really terrible service. Did not take the time to talk to client. Very over priced. Save yourself some time and go somewhere else.

Great selection and service. I needed some office chairs. Joe had exactly what I needed at an excellent price. He helped arrange delivery. All done quickly, efficiently and with top notch customer service.

Very knowledgeable, but also a bit pompous. Unsure if I will return for the items I saw just because of the attitude that followed the sales service. If you don’t mind dropping some dollars for high quality furniture and don’t mind the arrogance then this is your place.

Horrible service. My family and I came in today. We walked in and had to squeeze past the people working. They didn’t say hi nor did they acknowledged us. We were the only ones in there too! They just stood there and chatted to each other. And when we left we had to walk past them again and yet again they didn’t say have a good night just kept chatting away.

I’ve visited Bay Home Consignment a number of times looking for treasures for my new house. I received excellent service from the owner Joe, the manager Jill and their staff. When I told them what I was looking for they brought me right to the table I eventually bought. They also offered to refresh it for me so it looked sparkling new. AND, they agreed to hold onto it until I could arrange pickup which is quite unique as many stores want it out the door or give you a timeframe. I appreciated the flexibility as I wasn’t sure how long it would take to arrange for long distance shipping of the dining room table. They also have interested pieces both new and old. I will continue to keep them on my furniture shopping circuit!

Mid-​Century Modern Overload…
I am really surprised at all of the good reviews. Maybe I hit an off day… I am looking for furniture, prints and mirrors for an entire rental apartment. I really only saw old grandma’s prints and lots of mid-​century modern, which I hate. At least it was clean, which was nice. There wasn’t much of anything else to choose from and the prices are really high. You can find the same items on CL for 20% of the price. I thought most items were $ 400-​$ 1800. There were some good buys on headboards in the back ($ 399), but hard to transport.

I have always felt that furniture consignment store are good places to buy, not so good to sell.
Joe changed my mind! He was courteous, and sold our table for the price we agreed upon (twice what another shop offered me)
Kudos to him! Now I finally have a store to sell my furniture.

I found two perfect pieces for my new home while I was on vacation! What luck! Had a great conversation with some of the other customers and I ended up spending several hours there. I’ll check in again when I’m in the Bay Area again. Thx!

A friend convinced me to check out consignment stores before I bought new from a Scandinavian furniture store. Specifically I was looking for a dining table that opened to 100 inches but closed down to a table about 60% that size. I had found two tables in new stores, loved the table designs but not the light color of the unused wood. Yes, patina would come, I was assured. But I felt discouraged as the table pictures on line showed patina.
Then I went to Bay Home Consignment Furniture where Joe and Jill directed me to the larger tables. I found a wonderful teak table with a rich patina and no noticeable damage. In fact it was in near-​new condition. My table!
Now here’s where Joe and Jill really made my day.
I did not want the chairs. I hadn’t really thought I’d buy anything on that visit. I also didn’t want to buy without thinking about what I bought, especially after realizing that the new tables were just too «blonde» for me.
First not taking the chairs was no problem and the cost dropped to a substantially satisfying price for the table. Then I was encouraged to run my hand over the whole table AND sit down and stare at it until I felt it was the right purchase. Finally they held the table for me for 24 hours while I made a final decision and then called in with a credit card.
Yes, I’m getting the table! I bought it and am now making arrangements to have it delivered after my existing table is removed. And talking to Joe and Jill was wonderful. I never got the big sales pitch. No. Instead I received attention to what I was looking for and why. As I am a bad shopper … someone who does not go out shopping for fun and doesn’t find any aspect of the process fun … this was a wonderful experience for me. In fact I’ve decided to ask for help finding the rest of what I’m looking for.

this place has the best look and feel and the best quality. I visit ever time I can, and it just gets better and better.

I live in LA, but whenever I’m visiting the Bay Area I make a point to stop by Bay Home Consignment. The staff is helpful, friendly and super knowledgeable about art and design. I always seem to find great deals on no name funky pieces. My favorite is when I score high end antiques and designer mid century pieces at ½ the price of what they would go for in a retail shop. If you’re looking for affordable beautiful statement pieces for your home or office this is the place to go.

I went to this place to sell a framed print a while ago. The original worth of the print was well over 500 $, but the owners only managed to sell for less than 150 $. There were no scratches or any major flaws with what I handed over to them, and the woman who initially helped me in the store was incredibly rude and snotty and nearly refused to take it until I asked to speak with the manager.
I imagine this place is alright if you are a customer, but I would not recommend selling here. In all honesty I should have gone to eBay. Would not sell or purchase items here because the owners are stuck-​up, rude, and overly concerned about their image. This really isn’t a friendly place and I would avoid doing business with them again.

Self awareness is a very valuable asset and one of the keys to a successful business, Unilocal removed my last update because it wasn’t business related, this update however is an expression of my appreciation for the eye that you have and the amazing items that’s in your store. I have literally been looking for the perfect dresser for 3 months before finding the most beautiful piece here. I was actually admiring a piece and bummed it was the wrong color when the owner Joe approached me and asked me if i needed anything. He was able to find a very similar unfinished piece and paint it exactly to my specifications. Its gorgeous!
Great value, amazing people, and am VERY happy with my full experience.

Since my first review, I’ve purchased two sofas at Bay Home, one for my mom’s place and one for mine. Both excellent quality, in great condition, and reasonably priced.
I suggest going regularly if you’re on the hunt for something, the inventory is constantly turning over. They do a much better job of selecting and merchandising than most other furniture consignment stores.

This place is way over price for the condition of furniture they are selling. You’ll find better pieces on Craigslist for half the price. Large showroom but they have no staff to help you.
I tried to consign here once and people who answered the phone was rude. The owner should hire more people pay them well since prices compares to DWR instead of slave labor.
Shame on who ever owns this place.

Wow. A whole warehouse full of excellent options, and two incredibly hapless salespeople. The first, so timid I could not engage in conversation, the second, so patronizing I walked out just as I had decided to buy something. A real pity, as this place is a treasure trove of MCM options.
But treat me like a child and I can spend my money elsewhere.
3 stars for the selection, –2 for the service.

on the plus side this store has some great stuff, some at affordable prices in comparison to other retailers. of course, some items seem really expensive, but if it’s a designer piece and you think paying $ 1500 for a so-and-so’s armchair is a good deal, you’ll love this place. You can do better if you scour craigslist, but time is money! They also have a 24 hour return policy. So, if it doesn’t fit, or its not comfortable or you notice something about it you don’t like… you can bring it back. parking is generally not a problem and pick-​up is pretty convenient from their loading dock.
on the non-​plus side: the staff is hit and miss. Some have been helpful and good natured… sometimes they are cranky or not so helpful.
I still recommend this place to friends as a first stop on a hunt for furniture.

Came in here yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, looking for inspiration for dining tables — and trying to pick up some unique dining chairs.
I have to say — I was very impressed by all the quality of the furniture and the art in relation to its price. Seemed very fair! A lot of consignment stores charge just as much (or more!) for their furniture than if you went and bought it new. NOT acceptable, people!
Urban Home had a great variety of furniture. We will definitely be back! I can’t wait to see what they get next!
