Artistic Picture Framing

Upon entering the frame shop, Rodolfo greeted us warmly and asked us how he can help us today. I showed him my hot-​off-​the-​press diploma, which came into my possession less than three hours prior! My boyfriend and I wasted no time getting that baby framed. With my record of smooshing papers, I wasn’t about to take aaaany chances with the most expensive paper of my life!
Rodolfo gave us the rundown of all pertinent framing options available. I’m thankful that he went through the show because it gave me a greater appreciation for what goes into a frame. As Rodolfo chose features with his keen eye for color, he artfully wove stories of his own son’s journey through undergraduate school and medical school on the East Coast. The collection of beautiful frames off to the side of his backroom workshop are of his son’s own achievements. It was refreshing and heartwarming to converse with such a down-​to-​earth master framer. I could tell that he fully understood the meaning, hard work, and even sacrifice that culminated into this singular document.
With Rodolfo’s guidance, we opted for a stately and timeless look; a thin gold reversed bevel border with an elegant black silk mat. The structural surrounding frame is a simple black matte bevel with relief dots all around. As a final choice, we decided on museum glass in lieu of conservation glass. While both glass choices have 99% UV protection, museum glass offers an additional anti-​reflective coating for additional protection and clarity in all lighting situations.
As Rodolfo was ringing up our purchase, he casually asked when we needed the frame. My boyfriend and I answered that we hoped to have it in one day so that my parents could travel with it back home. In the most funny, yet efficiently wonderful way possible, Rodolfo exclaimed, «WHAT? Then we need to start work on it right away!!! Brian (motions to his assistant), stop everything. I’ll finish up with your customer (a woman with art to be framed); I need you to do X, X, and X with this one, take it to the back.» As you can tell, we did the rush order option for an additional 10% more: P The order *was* pricey, but you really do get what you pay for. The reality of service at Artistic Picture Framing exceeded my expectations. I’ll always remember how well Rodolfo handled our requests and guided us through frames, all while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
Another assistant, Drew, was there to reveal the finished product right on time. I appreciate Rodolfo’s expert craftsmanship and the diligence of his assistants. I’ll now have a proudly framed diploma for many years to come, if not forever!

My boyfriend is from Berkeley and had a few pictures framed here before. We sent them a picture of a friend’s wedding and asked them to frame it. It turned out absolutely beautifully. Rodolfo matched accent colors in the picture to the picture mat, and chose a perfect frame. The framing was a work of art by itself. She was so happy when we gave it to her. I will definitely ask them the next time I need something framed!

I met Rodolfo some 30 years ago at Pierre 39 some 30 years ago where we both had a shop. Rodolfo was a very charming and successful man then and I bought around 10 pieces of art for my real estate office. Rodolfo knew what he was doing and suggested the right theme and art to me. Last week I was walking on Shattuck and a Robin Williams painting attracted me. The art lover who I am, I walked in and asked how much that piece was not knowing who the store keeper was. Rodolfo immediately recognized me and with utter joy he said: Kouros Ansari
Of course I was shocked and I still did not know who he was until 10 seconds later. Additionally most of my real estate clients knew me by my nick name «Kirk». How did this man immediately called me by my real name?
We immediately arranged for a quick cup of coffee 2 hours later because we had so much to talk about after 30 years of reconnecting .
I learned 3 lessons from Rodolfo that memorable day.
1. Stay in contact with your past clients. I did not remember that I actually had sold him a duplex some 30 years ago.
2. Include my real name, Kouros in all my communications with the public and my clients. This has now been implemented.
3. Be proud of your accomplishment and do all you can for your children.
Lastly, I was very impressed with his increased ability and his business knowledge. He has now mastered his craft. I loved his choices for reasonably priced art and all the picture frame capabilities he has now.
Also, the love of his family was very evident in his shop .
He also shared with me that his son will be graduating as a medical doctor in May 2016. I could not be more proud of Rodolfo for having the insight to help, his son become a doctor. When I met Rodolfo years ago, as a young immigrant his material possessions were probably not at the same level as now. I am proud of him as he has improved all aspects of his life. He knows his craft well and he can be a great consultant to any one or any organization. I will be buying some art from him again soon.

I consider him to be a «framing angel”(or a «frangel»)
I walked into his shop because I had seriously messed up a sentimental concert poster that belonged to a friend and I wanted to make it up to him by framing it. Rodolfo immediately greeted me warmly and said something funny about the poster, and I knew right away he was a genuinely good human.
He showed me the basic framing options which were way out of my range, so we were worked out a deal where he could simply put the poster on a mat board which would smooth out the crumpled parts. He told me that he could do in about 5 weeks. I was shocked because I thought it would able to be done in an hour or so. I had mentioned to him that I teach kids and he told me that he has so much respect for teachers for being able to teach other people’s kids. He said it was because of that that he would take care of the job within the hour. That was so generous of him to do considering the job wasnt a really serious job for him.
I came back in an hour like he asked and not only did he go ahead and frame it for free, but he wrapped it up all nice, talking with me about his life and family and joking around and laughing the whole time. I felt like I was in another country in some small artisan shop and if I would have stayed a few more minutes I wouldnt be surprised if he invited me as a special guest for dinner with his family at his home.
When I told him how thankful I was for his generosity, he said something like: «A grain of good deeds every day makes a bucket full of gratitude,» except a little more eloquent than that. I told him that sounded like that could be on a mug, and we both laughed and I walked out with a big smile and a great experience to share.

They were so warm and helpful with the slightly odd art I needed framed. He even got out paper and markers for my two year old to keep him happy while we talked about the framing. It was such a pleasant experience overall and he helped me make the most economical choice. I will definitely go back.

I what love my pictures that Rodolfo and his staff framed for me. This is my second time and the customer service is always great. Rodolfo made excellent suggestions that allowed me choose what I liked and because he knows better putting the pieces together were made easy.

It takes an artist to frame art. That’s what I have learned visiting this place… Rodolfo takes away all uncertainty and anxiety in having to pick out that special frame needed for the art and pictures that I’ve been planning to frame. The staff here is warm and friendly. I was able to re-​decorate and update my place at a great value. Drew was very helpful and receptive to my wants with a fresh new edge!

I highly recommend taking Artistic Picture Framing for all of your framing needs. They are community minded and I cannot believe how quickly they got my project done for me. Rodolfo took care of me this morning and did an absolutely beautiful job!

These guys get it. When I first went to the shop, after buying the groupon, I was a little nervous as to what I was going to get. Reading some reviews here people complained about price etc. After getting a very fair deal from Rodolfo I left happy. I just picked up the two prints I had framed and wow! great work — he knows what hes doing — straight up.

Rodolfo and Scott did a superb on my and my wife’s ketuba. Rodolfo has a great taste with frames and borders. Scott was fast to mock up several options. Both of them were super accommodating and responsive with their communications. End product was excellent quality and we could not be happier.

When I first entered Artistic Picture Framing, I was greeted by Rodolfo and we began discussing framing options for some large wine region maps. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted, but the expert pointed me in the direction of several options that fit my budget and looked amazing.
I was a bit skeptical about spending more on framing than I did on the maps, but when I saw the result, it all became clear. The frame does more than just border the art. The frame acts as the transition between the artwork and the real world. It’s truly remarkable what Artistic Picture Framing is able to achieve.
I’m currently on the hunt for more things to be framed. I think I like the framing more than the actual art!

All of the great reviews here regarding Rodolfo’s work are easily merited. Simply, Rodolfo understands and appreciates art and is so capable at what he does that his framing is an art form. I recently completed my MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute and was desperately trying to find someone to frame my photographs for an upcoming show under very strict time pressures. Because my work was non-​traditional and part of larger art work, many framers had a hard time understanding what I was trying to present. When I went to Rodolfo’s studio, he spent over an hour with me designing ways to present my work on the wall. Then, once I had decided on how to present my work, Rodolfo spent hours again with me selecting frames that highlighted the work. He even helped me do such things as select the background wall color. Rodolfo is not only a true professional — he is thoroughly devoted to helping his clients create a space that features their work. Rodolfo’s decision to name his business «Artistic Picture Framing» makes sense because his framing is fine art.

Rodolfo is magnificent at what he does. He really went out of his way to make sure I was getting what I wanted from his work.
I had come in with a photo of my sister and I when we were children. First, he blew up the image for me, which was really convenient and then he framed it with a really professional golden frame and laid in a purple background. This was a gift for my sister and I’m happy to say that she completely fell in love with it.
Also, it doesn’t hurt that he just strikes me as one of those people you meet and instantly want to be friends with! What a nice guy. I’m very happy I went here!

I went to the Artistic Picture Framing last month to do my five frames for my new apartment. That place was recommended by a friend who had already used the services there before. I spoke to Mr. Rodolfo who answered promptly and very friendly. They concluded the service in three days as promised and the quality of the service was fantastic, awesome. I’m very happy with the result and will definitely recommend to all my friends who seek quality and excellence of service not to mention that Mr. Rodolfo is a lovely and friendly person who’s pleasant to talk to and do business at the same time.
