Nail Trix

My last few gel manicures here chipped within the week. The nail techs do not use the bond before putting the gel polish on unless you ask for it. The last time I requested they use the bond, the tech hassled with me and said I didn’t need it. It seems to be a back and forth each visit to get quality services.

Terrible, I’ve tried my best to be patient but I just can’t do it anymore. Gone here several times, but today is the last day. Terrible service, broken pedicure chairs that are then extremely uncomfortable to sit in, always trying to up sale you and then when you don’t get a gel style manicure they are annoyed. If I could give no stars… or even negative stars I would.

No stars for this place. Been in a few times for pedicures has been ok. Yesterday went in for a plain, old fashioned manicure. No gel. No acrylic. Just a mani. I swear the nail tech looked like she had just woken up. Or she was drugged. Couldn’t hear her name after asking a bunch of times. She was mad I guess that it was a cheap service. Kept asking me if I wanted gel or a buff — anything to bump up price. When all else failed she asked me if I wanted my eyebrows done. Ugh. It took less than 15 mins for my mani. She asked me to pay her and I did, then she walked away to talk with coworkers, in a much more animated and friendly way than she spoke to me. I wasn’t going to tip. I shouldn’t have but I did leave $ 3 on her table. Normally tip a minimum $ 5. I’m tired of the chain store approach to manis but unfortunately it’s what’s available in Locust Point. Won’t go back.

The service here is terrible. Technicians are incredibly rude and dismissive. They do not listen to customer instructions and simply don’t care. They are also incredibly over priced and don’t offer free parking. Will never return.

Dirty space & rude technicians. After I asked for a mani/​pedi, she asked if I needed my eyebrows done & then asked if I was sure when I said no. Insulting your customers is no way to upsell. TVs were up but not on & the one that was on didn’t have closed captioning. Received comments on how bad the cuticles on my feet were. I don’t have the disposable income to regularly get fixed up, so I didn’t appreciate being talked down to regarding the state of my feet. After it was all done, I was sat down next to a staff member that looked to be sleeping at the drying station. I don’t think she felt well, but should’ve been in the back or sent home if she was feeling that bad. There were hairs in the drying machine that got stuck to my nail polish. After that I looked on the floor & it didn’t appear that it had been swept in a while. And finally, requiring customers to only tip in cash is terribly inconvenient when most people don’t carry cash around.

I have been going here for a couple of years and have never had a bad experience. It is always crowded and most customers are regulars. I love this place and the people who work there. I think the only people who write reviews here are those who have had a bad experience, which aren’t many.

If Unilocal had the option to give negative stars. I would. My previous experiences here have been pleasant, so I was completely confused and utterly disgusted at my experience today. Not sure the woman’s name that did my nails, however she was older with a ‘bob’ styles do. Upon sitting down at her station, she repeatedly pulled my hand and filed my nails so low that I could feel my fingers burning. I asked for a medium length nail, & she gave me super short. When I complained and asked her what my options were, she cut all my nails off and walked away & told me to have someone else fix my nails. She than further became argumentative and told me to leave after I asked how much money I owed. Stay far away from this place! I also saw them not sterilizing tools! Try the nail shop at southside market place. just a stones throw away! Much better service

Nail Trix was recommended by few people so I decided to try for mani/​pedi. As one reviewer commented, mainly OPI polish. I prefer Essie but I was certainly able to find a color I liked. It’s clean and instruments are sterilized but prices are high. I will keep looking but would probably go back in a pinch.

I have to say, I went to this place a few years ago and my experience was good. The guy who was doing my pedicure joked with me a little but not to the point where I couldn’t relax. He did a good job, it felt good and the customer service was decent. I’m sad to say reading all of these reviews has me really scared to go back :-/

Specialized in gel nail manicures. Few technicians that know how to do acrylic. Many colors. Clean salon.

Horrible service!
I had to call the manager.
This Lady «Amy» was very unfriendly since the first moment I sat down, very bad attitude.
She didn’t do a good job and when I asked for her to fix it, I got this attitude, even worst, if that was still possible, very rude, she yelled to this other girl in mandarin complaining about the situation (she didn’t think I could understand) very unrespectful.
In case this wasn’t enough, when I paid, she gave me the wrong receipt so I asked what did I pay for… And I got yelled at!!! She thought I had a problem with the gel coating I previously agreed to extra pay.
A total nightmare.
This woman is way beyond unfriendly.
That was my first time there and my last one.
If you ever try this place out ask for any other girl that costumers are recommending, otherwise you’ll end up having an awful time. I should have done that myself.

I wandered in there on Saturday, trying to kill some time. I got a regular manicure by Sophie, and I loved it! She was patient, taking her time to do a fantastic job on my nails. The only reason I can’t give this place five stars is that the customer service left much to be desired. However, I’ll be back to see Sophie.

I’ve tried this place 3 times and giving it 1 star because they do a good job with my nails… But horrible service! This past time the nail tech didn’t try too smile and wasn’t pleasant at all. It’s like they could care less if they had any business at all. I’ve tried it a few times because it’s close & convenient.

Not impressed at all. The woman dug at my toe during my pedicure and made my fingers and toes bleed from not paying attention even after I told her that it hurt. I will never go back and still have scabs from three weeks ago!

The service here is terrible. I have been a few times and every time I have been disappointed. I have always gotten gel nails and the one time they started chipping 2 days after getting them done. I called right away and told them what happened and they said to come in when I was free which was not until a few days later and by then they gave me attitude that it had been a week. Sorry, but even so, gel should not chip in a few days or a weeks time. I also think they add something to the polish to dilute it bc the OPI pink gel polish was practically see through even after three coats and chipped again after a few days. I do not recommend this place and would tell anyone looking to go to City Nails, its right down the street off of Light street.

I’m sitting in the dryers here right now. I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews first because I probably would not have stopped in. I got seated right away and when I complained the water was too hot she immediately cooled it off with a smile. The girl I had was cheerful and sweet. She did a very good job and did not rush through at all she gave me a long massage and didn’t seem to care that I got a more basic pedicure. As long as a fungus I’ll be fine. I just chatted with the receptionist and was telling her about all the negative reviews on Unilocal and she did say that when they first opened they were very busy and felt the need to rush however I can honestly say the experience I received tonight was patient and relaxing.

My experience from Nail Trix was great. I received a gel mani and pedi and my nail technician was wonderful. She made sure my nails looked amazing when I was finished. The inside of the place is really cute and looks more of a high end salon, but they had very reasonable prices– $ 55 for a gel mani and pedi.
I will definitely be going back.

Talk about a bait & switch! This place has nice décor, ambiance, and great massage chairs. However, the service is slow, the techs and receptionist can be unfriendly, and the price is not right at about $ 45 for a basic mani/​pedi. These factors combined with the lack of free parking make this a two-​star joint.

When this place first opened, I was a HUGE supporter. They did a great job, everyone was kind, and they took their time. However, the newness has worn off, and Nail Trix has just become a run-​of-​the-​mill nail salon.
The last few times I’ve had my nails done, the technician did an okay job but most recently, I had an experience that makes me refuse to go back. I just had stitches out of my finger on Saturday and asked the nail technician to be careful, which he wasn’t at all. Then he seemed to rush through my nails– they have bubbles in them and I found places where my old nail polish is STILL on my nails.

Sadly, this establishment doesn’t seem to care about service or keeping their customers. My manicure was rushed and of poor quality. (She filed my nails once real quick, rubbed a tiny bit of lotion on, and painted them sloppily. It was done so poorly there were bumps under the nail polish-​probably nail dust from the rapid filing.) The manicurist was awkwardly cold and actually hurt me while cutting down the cuticles which I can’t say has ever happened before. It’s a manicure people, supposed to be relaxing (or at least not painful!) Oddly, she wouldn’t tell me her name at the end of the manicure when I asked her… how odd is that? Overall, a very awkward experience.
If you’re looking for a mediocre manicure, this place will get the job done for $ 14. If you want a manicure that will last and a relaxing spa experience, look elsewhere.
