Bikram Yoga Baltimore – Locust Point

I bought this on Groupon looking for a new type of workout and I’m obsessed! I’ve done yoga in the past but Bikram is on a whole other level!
Signing up for the classes is super easy using their website. You can sign up for classes the same day or weeks in advance. And signing in once you get there is a breeze as well– you just tell the instructor your name at the front desk and they check it on the computer.
The class itself is very challenging! It’s 90 minutes of intense yoga in a 105 degree room. When I first walked in I thought, «Okay, it’s hot, but not that bad.» But after doing a couple of postures you suddenly realize how hard it is! I don’t usually sweat much when I exercise, but the end of the class I looked like I had dumped a bucket of water over my head! You spend the first half of the class doing standing postures and the second half you do postures on your mat. So far, I’ve had Edward, Kyle and Emily as my instructors and they’ve all been great! They all were very encouraging and made those who were new to Bikram feel very welcome.
I would recommend getting there about 15 – 20 minutes before the class starts so you can stake out a spot with your yoga mat because the classes get packed! If you’re new to Bikram I would aim for a spot in the back so you can get a better view of the postures. Wear as little clothes as possible so you can see your body in the mirrors to make sure you are doing the postures correctly and because it’s super hot. Some women opt for sports bras and yoga shorts, but I usually just wear shorts and a tank. Also make sure you bring one or two bottles of water, yoga mat, a large towel to put over your mat and a smaller towel for your face. I decided to invest in a yoga towel for my mat and I love it!
There’s also free parking in the garage next to Harris Teeter.

Had a great experience here! The instructor’s name was Emily and she was super helpful, nice, and knowledgable. The studio was clean and didn’t smell like other Bikram studios I’ve been to. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it was nearly impossible to get someone on the phone before my class to ask a question.

Kyle definitely keeps the heat on, but really helps you get into your postures!

I bought a Groupon and now I’m HOOKED! Whether you’re a total beginner or a pro, this studio is a warm (literally), welcoming environment. My favorite classes are Tues/​Thurs 9:30AM. The instructor is super friendly and fun and very encouraging. If you’re new, she’ll help you all along your journey! TIPS: Arrive 15 minutes before class and take time to lie there, relax, and adjust to the heat. Drink 2 – 3 bottles of water before you go (the night before and/​or that day). Bring a water bottle in with you and a towel or two. You’ll feel like you’re floating the rest of the day– just WONDERFUL!

The feeling you get when you leave the studio is worth the hour and a half of «omg I’m going to throw up» or «why are my calves sweating». Bikram is very different from Vinyasa Yoga, but I believe it does have cleansing qualities. The facilities at BYB in Locust Point are nice, but parking can sometimes be an issue. Bring your own towel as they don’t even have paper towels in the bathroom due to going green (I would recommend bringing a large towel for your mat and maybe a smaller hand towel). They almost always have Groupons, which is a fantastic deal.

Love the location of this studio. If you get there a few minutes early parking is not a problem. The garage has ample parking. The teacher was great and gave guidance to individuals even though the class was packed! The studio was clean as well as the bathroom. I left feeling limber, relaxed and energized!
