When I first visited Studio 921, I was pleasantly surprised by the free on-​site parking, renovation of the historic Foundry and professionalism of the staff. Add to that the variety of services offered and it’s easy to see why it rates as one of Baltimore’s best salons. My esthetician Lisa Close has greatly improved my complexion through gentle deep pore cleaning, microdermabrasion and chemical peels. As someone who has endured painful extractions and dermaplaning, I regret not finding her sooner. She also does a wonderful job of shaping my eyebrows.

Had a deep tissue massage by Caitlin a few weeks ago and it was great. She could tell exactly what parts of my hips and shoulders were giving me trouble and explained why it was happening and what she was doing to help relieve the tension. Definitely going back to her!

Brooke is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!! I just got back from my second of four 60 minute massages, and I’m struggling not to fall into the most amazing slumber ever. For my first visit, Brooke was my massage practitioner. Her method and attention on that visit wouldn’t allow me to ask for anyone else when I called this morning for my second massage. I feel AMAZING right now!!! My daily activities are fairly physically demanding, leaving me strained and tense. Brooke has left me feeling completely REJUVENATED on both occasions. She systematically works out the tension and thoroughly massages my muscles into butter. She has also taken special notice of my problem areas and symptoms, and has provided me with fantastic suggestions to alleviate them.
Studio 921 is lucky to have Brooke on staff, and I will certainly be back on her massage table in four weeks!

The only place I go to take care of my hair. Joe is my stylist and a total pleasure to work with. Not too chatty or awkwardly silent, just the perfect amount of banter infused with hair care tips and tricks. Great massages, too. This place is thoughtful and fun and always offering up interesting deals on various services.

I have been coming to 921 for a few years now for a variety of services including cuts, color, waxing, and facials.
I’ve entrusted my hair to Rachael Pietra and I highly recommend her. She will be honest with you about your hair type and what is possible and what is not, which is important. She still does a full consult with me each time I come in even though she is very familiar with my hair and my preferences. She is very punctual but does not rush her work.
I can’t give 5 stars because of the following issues:
–It’s hard to get someone to pick up the phone.
–The front desk is nice looking but it’s so tall that you can’t see if someone is there to check you in or not when you arrive. Need taller chairs or a shorter desk.

I had the best massage with Caitlin yesterday. I was recently in a car accident and I thought massage therapy might help my back. I had a PT session on Wednesday, Caitlin’s massage on Thursday, and another PT appt Friday morning. I was blown away at the increase in mobility and the decrease in pain. I think I had just become used to being in pain all the time and Caitlin totally helped! I’ve booked my next appointment already, and was so impressed by Caitlin that I’m gifting my friends a massage with her. Totally worth it.

My friend had recommended I see Vanessa for a haircut and she was absolutely fantastic. I hit a ton of traffic so was very late to my appointment but she wasn’t upset at and definitely didn’t take it out on my hair. I have thick wavy-​curly hair and wanted to get about 5 inches cut off, from a long layers cut to a long bob cut. Vanessa took the time to discuss length with me in great detail to make sure she was doing what I wanted and what would look best. It was expensive but completely worth it.

I have been here twice now in the past two months. My first visit was with Amanda who did my highlights and cut and I was very pleased and would definitely go back to her. My second visit was a blowout I was supposed to be with Amber but somehow got switched to be with Ali. I was not very pleased not only did it take an hour and 15 minutes and I have chin length hair but the blowout was about the quality I could do on myself. Will definitely come back and try someone else in the future.

I went in for balayage highlights last week. My stylist was Danielle, who was simply amazing and knew EXACTLY what I wanted. My highlights look phenomenal. I went in twice before getting the highlights and later once to get retouch. Danielle was more then understanding and patience with me. The Salon it self is beautiful and offers their customers complimentary coffee and tea. I am DEFI going back and highly recommend this place :)

I just recently started to go to Studio 921 and now it’s become my #1 stop shop for everything beauty/​health related.
Just last week I had my first massage with Caitlin and it was awesome. More like an overhaul on my body that was greatly needed. What I loved about her style was she not only worked out my pain spots, but also gave me an overview of some issues in my body to be aware of that made so much sense on why I had been hurting for so long. I am really looking forward to my time with her and can already feel a huge difference in my body.
I also experienced a relaxing and refreshing facial with Kara. While you may not get it from this review, I don’t typically treat myself to these types of services, but I left feeling like it was going to be a part of my regular routine.
If you’re looking for your next forever hairstylist, you need to go to Amy. I’m a blonde and have a really hard time finding someone who can do my color and cut in a way that looks natural and healthy. Amy NAILS it every time and I’m so glad that I have someone I can rely on.
Overall, Studio 921 has some amazing employees!

Finally! I’ve found it! After living in Baltimore for years, I’ve jumped around from salon to salon, never really finding exactly what I was in search of. Today, I had an appt with Rachael for a full color and cut. One word = AMAZING! She never tried to up-​sell me and made me feel as though I’ve known her for years. Professional and easy going, perfect combo. I highly recommend this salon and her!

Convenient location with Sunday hours. Susan gave me 2 blowouts and my hair looked great, each visit. Yeah, I’m a fan!

I went to Studio 921 for the first time yesterday. I’ve lived in Baltimore for several years and I’ve tried out a bunch of different salons. Studio 921 is the best by far! Amy was my stylist and she was amazing. I have thick, curly hair that was pretty long and I wanted a change. Amy gave me an awesome shorter cut that was exactly what I was looking for. The blowout was also amazing, and blowing out my thick hair is not always easy. I love this salon, and I highly recommend Amy!

Kara is honestly, beyond AMAAZING!!! I absolutely loathe getting waxed, to my utter shock and amazement I didn’t have the urge to kill myself during or after the waxing. I had ZERO pain, C’mon ladies you know that’s unheard of, that’s how Fabulous Kara is!!! I also a deep pore facial and massage, i feel delightfully rejuvenated. Thank you Kara :) Can’t wait for my next appointment.

First, this is my first experience (12÷6÷14) at STUDIO 921!
I received two gift certificates in December 2014 for Studio 921, to which I did not use until this past weekend. I inquired via email for an appointment for a massage and facial. I received an email response immediately. Unfortunately, I did not confirm in time, and the desired appointment was taken. After several exchanged email communications, I called the salon to schedule and inquire further information for the services, as this was my first facial experience and visit to the salon.
DAVID, the person who answered the phone, was exceptional! I explained I was referred to Melinda, for a facial, but I am open to others, as it was my first time to visit. I was a bit nervous and hesitant, and I probably would have delayed longer, if it was not for David’s politeness, manners and knowledge. David assured me that Caitlyn and Lisa would do a great job, and he was right! David also took the time to explain details of different services. Again, much appreciated. After my conversation with David, I was looking forward for timeout for me.
I had a facial with Lisa and a massage with Caitlyn. It was the best massage ever. I had some back issues, and Caitlyn worked the knots and stress out. Lisa was very knowledgeable, educating me in overall skincare and product options, and I felt so relaxed for the rest of the day. My experience was wonderful, and not to mention, I felt exceptionally spoiled and left feeling great! I am planning a routine maintenance schedule, and do not know why I waited so long.
The salon itself posed a relaxed atmosphere, urban modern design, very professional and kind staff. If my family sees this, FYI– I will use my gift cards… hint, hint. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you.

Can’t wait for my haircut with Amanda! She has been my stylist for close to 10 years and I refuse to see anyone else. I trust her to do an outstanding job on my hair every visit, and always get many compliments from others after she does my hair, (unfortunately I am not very good and going to get my hair cut and colored frequently enough, so when I do have it done I’m always amazed at how fabulous she makes it look!) I always do my research online before I go to see her and bring in pictures of what I would like my hair to resemble. She does an amazing job! As to the previous post, unless someone plans to wear her personality on her head, who cares! Amanda can cut, style, and color hair wonderfully, and that’s all that matters at the end of the day. I think she has an amazing personality and is a wonderful person, and I love spending time with her during our appointments!

It took me four years of living in Baltimore to give up on my stylist in my hometown of Atlanta. Beth was recommended to me by a co-​worker and even though I was nervous, had about 2−3″ of split ends, and enormous thick half-​Asian hair, she gave me a great cut that maintained my long hair and I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Since it was my first time, my cut was $ 60 and I get coupons periodically through the email list.
Studio 921 has very easy parking and is very luxurious inside. Everyone I talked to was friendly and quick to ensure I was equipped with coffee (it was 9 AM on Saturday). I wish I could afford the spa services because I’ve heard they’re wonderful!

Had my hair colored by Mark. Very happy with the results and will be returning. He is very skilled, honest, and professional. I usually tell stylists what I like and don’t like for color, then ask their opinion on what would work for my hair within that realm. Matt’s the type of stylist you can trust and say, «Here are the reins, just make it look great!», and he’ll deliver :)

Overall impression of 921 after experiencing multiple services:
*Vanessa is a fabulous stylist and I will likely consistently go to her for my haircuts!
*I will never ever get a manicure/​pedicure here again.
*I will consider going back for a massage but prefer the Four Seasons (but can’t always afford it!)
