History
Established in 1993.
Founded in 1986 by ophthalmologists dedicated to providing quality eye care in Kern County with two offices located in Bakersfield and Delano. Triangle Eye Institute is dedicated to the preservation of vision.
The clinic is equipped with advanced laser equipment and micro surgical instrumentation for modern ophthalmic surgical care alleviating the patient population of traveling long distance to find alternative surgical care.
The center’s staff includes the only board-certified fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist in the entire Kern County area. The staff comes from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds which complement the mixed heritage of the community and allows for avoidance of language barriers of communication.

Steven Y.
Business Owner
Dr. Steven Yaplee is Kern Counties’ only board certified fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He has performed thousands of micro-surgical and laser procedures. He graduated from the University of California, Davis and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana and a fellowship in Glaucoma at Louisiana State University Medical School. Dr. Yaplee has completed extensive research in glaucoma treatment utilizing micro-surgical techniques.
