First I want to say that they are open on Saturdays despite what Unilocal says. Unfortunately it looks like they only have one person working for them. I just needed air in my tires, a service that will only take a minute or two max. I was told to just pull up, they would get me really quickly. No one ever came out. Ever.

I have had the best experiences at this place. Their service and staff are great! Thank you guys!

I used a coupon to only get the oil changed. I got in right away and declined the complimentary tire rotation (I use Discount Tire for that!). My check engine light was on before I came in, which they checked but could only provide vague possible causes. P. S. The next day, my radiator overheated and cracked. I had to replace it on the road. It may not be their fault that they couldn’t have seen that it was leaking once they opened my hood, so I’m not counting off for that. Seems like one would be able to smell the radiator fluid.

NOT RECOMMENDED. My mother-​in-​law recently went there for an oil change. They allegedly rotated her tires and told her she needed new shocks.
2 days after the visit to CARx, I happened to look at her tires and saw the wear bar clearly at the surface on the front 2 and not much better on the back! (Needless to say, we took her vehicle to Discount Tire to have them checked and confirmed she really needed 4 new tires.)
In my opinion, CARx SHOULD have told Mom about the bad tires, not just promoting services that they do in-​house! (BTW, new tires made for a much better ride on her vehicle too — thanks Discount Tire!)

I went in on a Saturday and couldn’t leave the car. I felt I might have had a leak in one of my tires due to having to put air in the tires more than once. They pushed me right in as well as verified I had no concerns. They equalized the air pressure stating if I have future problems come back in. Not a single dollar charged. I’ll go back for even the basic service.

Bought a lifetime alignment here when my car was new. Returned for an alignment last month to begin the process of diagnosing a shimmy in my ride. After doing the alignment they gave me a report showing they had aligned my car based on specs for a completely different year model. Alignment specs always change with a new year model. They put in a lot of new parts but I still had the shimmy and pull when I left, $ 2300. I’ve had the «clunking» struts they installed reworked by another mechanic because they weren’t installed right, another $ 400, but working fine now. Turns out I had two out of round front tires. Save your money.

My car was not accelerating properly so I took it here. I was told I needed a whole new transmission and CV axle. I was quoted a little over $ 2,000 for the repair. I took my car for a second opinion to Kwik Kar where I was told I needed a new seal for the transmission. $ 200 later my car is back to perfect condition. I would not recommend this place for anyone or for any type of auto service! However, I must say the staff is very friendly and welcoming (why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1).

I don’t know why everyone ripped this place apart. I had a great experience. Joked with the guys about why it had taken me so long to get everything transferred from CA to TX. Before they even started my inspection the guys told he they knew it wouldn’t pass without a certain light and cover. Instead of trying to order it for me and charge me an arm and a leg, they suggested I walk across the parking lot to buy the piece and they’d put it all on for me. They did say there were things that could be done but they didn’t make it seem like it NEEDED to be done by any means.
Edit– I found out that they’ve recently gotten an entirely new staff which explains the difference between the experience I had and the other reviews.
Came back a second time to have my battery checked and the girl at the desk had no clue what she was talking about and gave me a price that was much higher than any one I talked to thought was reasonable. Her manager got involved when I said I’d shop around and magically dropped the price about $ 40 and made a lot more sense of everything than the other girl did.

This place gives auto repair places a bad name. I should have turned around and left, instead of having my car «repaired» there.
Short story: I had a check-​engine light come on that prevented my car from passing state inspection. Took my car in and was told some sensor was bad and lucky me, they could fix it for $ 550.
Picked up my car and the battery was dead. Mind you, I had replaced the battery one month prior but these guys had someone burned out my battery. I replaced the battery and after a short 50 miles, the light came back on.
So I was back to square one. I probably wouldn’t have minded spending the $$$ but you could tell these guys love ripping people off. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere.

Granted not a lot of car servicing places are 5 star, but this place sucks. I walked in and asked them how long the wait was and they said at first 30 mins to only be corrected by one of the car attendants who said more like 45 mins. It was hard to take them seriously because it seemed like all of the mechanics we in the waiting area watching something on FB. As annoyed as I was, I waited. And 1 ½ hours later my basic oil change was done. On tip of that the people that work there (especially the front desk girl) are so unprofessional, I would never go back…

They do the job they are asked to do BUT, will really add on extra items that supposedly need to be fixed on your car. They will try to sell you on doing more work that what is needed BUT, just say no.

A lady friend of mine just took her car in for a Groupon oil change (big mistake). They did the oil change and then said she needed her serpentine belt changed. They even said there were cracks and showed her the FLAT part of the belt. The estimate was $ 118 to replace the belt. (Autozone 3 year belt is $ 31). I looked at the belt and did not see any cracks on the ribbed side of the belt. These guys just saw a woman coming and decided to bend her over. What a crappy and unprofessional way to treat a customer ! STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS !!

I was driving through the parking lot today, and a mechanic was pulling a quad cab black pickup truck out of the bay. He had the truck at a crawl then stopped, so I proceeded to drive by slowly so that he could see me. He honked at me as I almost caused a wreck, and I waved at him in frustration. If he was using the mirrors, there’s no way he could’ve missed me! I drove around the building, got on the road, and stopped at a stop sign by the building. The mechanic proceeded to get out of the car and wave the finger at me even though I was down the road.
This is supposed to be a neighborhood auto shop with great customer service. I will NEVER take my vehicles there & I will warn others not to either. My husband just called the manager and apparently customers in the store saw the whole thing and had reported it to him as well. Talk about unprofessional!!!

I usually go to a Car-​X in San Antonio, but since I’ve moved to Austin, I decided to give this one a try.
I called ahead to see how busy they were going to be and explained to them that I needed to get my timing and/​or serpentine belts looked at b/​c I’ve been hearing a squealing noise when I start the car. They said they could take me in as soon as I got in… of course, it was a Tuesday morning at 10am.
When I got there, the guy helped me right away. He took down my information (as each CarX keeps their own customer data) and went to drive my car around to be checked out. I was prepared to wait so I took advantage of their wi-​fi and got some work done on my laptop. However, it only took about 30 minutes. My belt just needed to be tightened a bit, and they didn’t charge me! =) It’s been a couple of days, and no more squealing noise, so definitely fixed the issue!
I’m not sure why all the other reviews are negative, but I had a great experience with them so far. I would go back if anything else like this comes up!

Dishonest and shiesty people. Took my car in for an oil change. They broke my hubcap but said they’d pay for a new one. I called a week later for an update and they said they’ll give it to me as soon as I get my brakes done with them, basically holding it hostage. When i said no thanks, i just want my hubcap, they had a number of different stories of why they didnt have it. 5weeks later they still refuse to buy a new hubcap, have verbally assaulted my husband and lied on numerous occasions. DO NOT GO HERE!

Well I have looked at the other reviews and can only give my experience. I turn most of my own wrenches and have not had work done other than having them press my bearings which they did for cheep. The mechanics I worked with on two different occasions knew their stuff, I grew up in the car biz and know a crappy mechanic when I hear him explain answers to questions I ask. I was just in today and I noticed a new management team that was very helpful and promptly called me when my part was finished. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I didn’t have that much work done, I will say I will give these guys a chance then next time I can’t handle a project.

Update, to their credit CarX refunded the money they charged me to damage my car. A real mechanic was shocked at the damage they caused and the shoddy nature of their work.

Dishonest and clueless. I had them check my power steering pump because it was whining. Said the pump was fine but I’d need a new rack and pinion for $ 1000. Took to hondacure today where they replaced an o ring for $ 47. The car x folks also poked a pin hole in my rack and pinion boot to check for a leak. What the hell? I’m asking for those jokers to fix the damage they caused. Horribly misdiagnosed my problem and feel like they were trying to steal my money. Steer clear of this place!!!

Took my car in there for a simple exhaust repair, since that is a specialty of CaRx. Asked for a quote, they told me it would be two hours of labor ($ 100 an hour) and $ 30 for the parts. I knew they were bumping the estimate, no way it would take two hours to take a sawzall cut out a piece and place in a straight piece of pipe. So i said, thanks but no thanks.
I then took the same problem to Meineke and they quoted me $ 150 and said that I shouldn’t put just a straight piece but instead needed to replace the flex piece that was broken with another flex piece. That made sense and I appreciated the recommendation, 30 minutes later I was out the door with an even better repair than CaRx was gonna do for $ 70 cheaper.
I’m not looking for someone to do the work for free, I’m just looking for an honest job. Do not go to this place if that’s what you are looking for. Do not tell me a job is gonna take two hours when clearly it isn’t. If you are gonna charge $ 200 for parts, that’s fine. But be honest about it, don’t tell me a 30 minute job is gonna take 2 hours.
