History

Established in 2006.

Patriot Pool and Spa opened for business in the summer of 2006, and we have grown every year since then on little more than positive word of mouth. We have been active members at the local and state level of IPSSA (Independent Pool and Spa Service Association), APEC (Aquatic Professional’s Education Council), and APSP (Association of Pool and Spa Professionals) during our time in business. In 2011, Patriot Pool and Spa was honored as a member of the «Aggie 100», which represents the 100 fastest growing businesses owned or operated by former students of Texas A&M University.

At Patriot Pool and Spa, we always want you to know and feel comfortable with who is in your yard. We run background checks on all of our candidates, and we only feel comfortable putting people in your yard that we would welcome inside our own home. Hal D. is the owner and President of Patriot Pool & Spa in Austin, TX. Patriot Pool & Spa has been serving the greater Austin area since 2006. Hal is a well-​recognized leader within the Texas swimming pool service industry and has served on the board of the Austin chapter of the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association and currently serves on the board of the new North Austin chapter. At the state level, Hal is on the board of the Aquatic Professionals Education Council and in that capacity he has represented the swimming pool industry and consumer in front of the Texas legislature on multiple occasions, and syndicated talk show host Darryl Mobley has referred to him as «the best in his craft that I have come across in 20 years of owning a pool»

Hal is a native Austinite and started Patriot Pool and Spa immediately upon graduating from Texas A&M University with a BA in History.

If you need pool maintenance, you should hire these guys.
My heater wasn’t working. They couldn’t fix it in time for Christmas, but explained I could do it myself and even provided the part #s. It’s refreshing to find such honest, helpful guys in an industry that (unfortunately) has its share of shaky people. (Another firm had looked at the heater and assured me it had to be replaced. That would have been $ 3K, vs. the $ 200 DIY solution that Patriot guided me through.)

Ive waited to review Patriot Pool and Spa for a few months to ensure that the service we’ve received was consistent and lasting. After a total over-​haul of a 10+ year old pool, we have been enjoying our gorgeous pool for a couple of months now. It was literally a swamp when we bought the house but after a total re-​plaster, new filter and weekly cleaning service, we are swimming and enjoying our investment. We are super pleased with Hal, his team and the quality of their work. Thanks Patriot Pool and Spa!

I’ve used Patriot Pool and Spa for about 3 years and couldn’t be happier — even more so when I compare them to the previous company that cleaned for me. Patriot employees are very consistent and Hal was always available to take my calls or listen to me complain about this or that. When there was an issue, always minor, Hal was quick to fix it. They’ve not only done regular weekly cleanings, but they also installed a new pool pump. Why use multiple companies when you could use one for everything?
I’ve referred them to several of my friends and will continue to do so.

Hal and his entire team are awesome! They know what they are doing. I would highly recommend Patriot Pool to anyone needing pool assistance. I have used them for the past 18 months to maintain a pool at my rent house. They always keep me in the loop with issues and concerns and are always reasonably priced when fixed are needed. Even when issues popped up, Hal was always quick to return all my phone calls and always came up with solutions to issues.

Hal Denbar is a True professional. I engaged Patriot Pool and Spa to inspect the pool for the house I was planning to buy. His findings helped me to make the decision. The whole process from engaging to completion is a true professional experience. He took the time to explain the details of his findings multiple times and was able to provide the estimate and timelines to fix the problems he found during inspection. Very disappointed in service. Hired based on a recommendation, serviced my pool for about 6 weeks, 3 different service technicians, not consistent on cleaning days (was reminded that they have a 24 hour window), didn’t empty pump filter basket on two occasions (out of the six), dumped skimmer baskets (salt water) unto grass… although trashcan stays in pool area. From beginning notified owner that I had security concerns and gate lock always needed to be replaced after service, that request was not met. Candid remarks from owner when I voiced my concern.

They have the best service. I’ve seen in very few successful business. Hal and his team are very good and qualified to handle any pool situations. They cleaned up my pool and after few day of giving them the responsibility of my pool it looks excellent.

I’ve had great service from this company. I initially called when my pump had begun to leak badly and I needed a repair fast. Patriot was actually the ONLY company out of three I called who called me back. The other two (Prime Pool Service and Pappan Pools) never even acknowledged my call. I realize it was a very busy time of the season, but the courtesy of a call to say they were too busy isn’t too much to ask.
ANYWAY, Hal and his company was on the ball. Rather than come out to assess the pump problem, Hal had me text a couple photos of the leak that would save me the cost of the service call in addition to the repair costs.
From my photos, he called me right back and offered two options and prices. I settled on one and the pump was in place and running within days.
About a month later, I noticed some issues with the pump and again called Patriot. Hall called right back and set up a time for a technician to come out to the house. The next day, I figured out the problem and called to cancel the appointment but Hal insisted someone come just to check and make sure all was OK. They came out. They checked it and there were no issues and that was it. No cost.
I highly recommend Hal and Patriot Pools, particularly since other companies apparently couldn’t be bothered by my business while he went the extra mile!

Called Patriot Pool and Spa to get my pool system working again. I found it had a vacuum leak somewhere that I could not diagnose myself. They came out and got it repaired quickly and inexpensively. There was a little snafu with the billing but Hal called me to get it taken care of and all is well. They are really good and helpful. Except for the miscue on the billing which was probably a fluke, they are really good.
I posted a review this morning instead of contacting the owner, and now I’m editing it to change my tune because he immediately saw the review and contacted me to fix the issue. They are on top of things and care about their business.
Really good guys. Thanks for getting my pool repaired quickly.

Hal Denbar is a consummate professional. I retained the services of Patriot Pool & Spa to inspect the pool pump and filter equipment for the home I am in the process of purchasing. Hal pointed out several things with the system that could lead to costly future repairs. For example, the ‘wet-​end’ of the system had been improperly glued when installed and would require a complete replacement if any one component broke.
His thorough inspection and professionalism is worth every dollar (and probably saved me several!) I would 100% recommend Hal and his team to anyone looking to purchase a home with a pool, or anyone who has a pool and wants to keep it well-​maintained. I can’t say enough good things about the team at Patriot Pool and Spa. So far they have helped rebuild the majority of the equipment and plumbing on our older pool, and they performed the plaster startup for us during our backyard remodel. Their work was excellent but their customer service was even more impressive. I wish other companies made it as easy as Patriot did. I knew what day to expect them, they called ahead of their visit (even though they knew I couldn’t be home during their visits), invoiced me by email, and I paid their invoice online from work. This update is overdue and much deserved.
After four + years of continued service from these guys, Hal and his crew continue to impress me with their loyalty to me as a customer, and, with their honest up front business practice. They continue to keep my pool operating at it’s best. This summer life dealt me a unannounced hardship that has taken me out of town. I called Hal, or he called me (don’t exactly remember), and told him of my situation.
He assured me that he and his crew would keep a eye on things. So far they have. I sleep better at night knowing that there is someone whom I can trust to take care of my pool. All you pool owners out there know first hand how demanding and expensive owning a pool can be. It is important to me to have a pool service company that is reliable and trustworthy. Patriot Pool and Spa is that company. I will never use anyone else for as long as I own my pool.
